Graduation 9 am 3 Forestview High Schools’ “Kia Educator of the Year” Congratulations to Mrs. Beverly Smith, our 2015 “Kia Educator of the Year”! Mrs. Smith has been at Forestview High School since day one of the doors opening in 1998. She has been the face of Forestview for 17 years as the school receptionist and secretary. Every day she serves the students, parents, and staff with a smile and Mrs. Beverly Smith a friendly greeting. Mrs. Smith is the perfect candidate for the “Kia of Gastonia Educator of the Year” award because she loves to serve others. Her unselfish servitude to her school and community is a shining example of what we hope every Gaston County educator aspires to be. Mrs. Smith is a wonderful educator, and we are proud she is Forestview’s “Kia of Gastonia Educator of the Year”. New Pick Up and Drop Off Traffic Pattern in 2016 Due to the heavy volume of traffic in our car pick up and drop off area, the NC DOT has proposed a new traffic pattern for Forestview High School. On January 5th 2016, parents will start picking up students at the back of the school in the bus circle. Cars will enter from Union Road and follow the road beside the trailers to the back of the school. Parents will drop students off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon at the bus circle. Cars will exit the campus using Beaty Road. Buses will drop off and pick up students using the front entrance of the school. Parents will use the front entrance to drop off and pick up students between 8:15 am and 2:30 pm. As our school continues to grow, we hope this will alleviate traffic congestion. She had a good friend who dragged her into running. Her biggest fear was not competing, but instead that she would have to miss class time to go early to meets. She was fearful that she would not be able to make up her classwork, and she would get behind. Sophia overcame that fear and fell in love with running. She had no problem making up her classwork and is currently an amazing runner for our Cross Country team. Mr. Hunsucker, Forestview’s Cross Country coach, commented, “Sophia has shined at every big (and small) cross country event this season”. Sophia’s Accomplishments in 2015 • Luminary Run at Ashbrook – 1st Place Finish • Shelby Invitational - medalist • Freedom High School Invitational - medalist • Gaston County Championships - Gaston Runner of the Year • NC Runners Elite Runners Invitational - medalist • Big South Conference Championship - All-Conference • Western NC 3A Regionals - medalist and qualifier for the North Carolina Championships • North Carolina 3A Championships - 14th place; best finish in Forestview history “Sophia has shined at every big (and small) cross country event this season”. – John Hunsucker FXC Coach Champions in the Arts Freshman Nolan Cochran received an “Honorable Mention” award for the Recycled Art Competition sponsored by “Keep Gastonia Beautiful”.
