November 12, 2015 is Georgia Gives Day, a special 24-hour
online giving event, and GSHG is a proud participant. If you
love Girl Scouts and support our work in building girls of
courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a

Girls' Choice is back! Make your voice heard in
deciding what the next new Girl Scout badges will
be all about! Will it be Financial Literacy, STEM or
Outdoors? The choice is up to you. Vote
now through Nov. 15, 2015 and encourage every
Girl Scout friend you know to do the same!
The votes are in and next year's Early Bird theme
will be Sisterhood! Sisterhood means the close
relationship among girls based on shared
experiences and concerns; a community or society
of girls. Submit your drawing that depicts
"Sisterhood" for the Early Bird Patch contest! All girls may submit a drawing on plain white

Apply for a Girl Scout Destination today! From surfing camp, hiking out west or traveling

GSHG is proud to announce the launch of the Travel Pathway. This avenue for
participation in Girl Scouts is especially for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors and their
troops (and in some cases their parents). The GSHG Travel Pathway has three main focus
areas: 1. District or council wide trips, 2. United States domestic trips and 3. International
Travel with EF Tours. Interested girls and adults are invited to join us for an informational
webinar about all of the Travel Pathway options on either: Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. or
Monday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m.

keep our camp properties functional and beautiful. We need skilled and willing workers to
come and join an Adopt a Camp Team (ACT). Come spend the day or weekend helping

Annual Meeting delegate voting is now open. Please select nominees to represent you and
your area at the annual meeting of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia on January 23, 2016 at
Camp Martha Johnston in Lizella, GA. Nominees who are not elected will serve as 2016
alternates. Please submit your response by Dec. 4, 2015. Thank you!

publication celebrates the thousands of inspiring Girl Scout alumnae who have made the

Golden Eaglet, Curved Bar, First Class, and Gold Award) recipients, asking them to call
Harris Connect to verify their contact information and learn how to submit their stories for

Congratulations to Chef 'Mama' Orchid Paulmeier,
owner of One Hot Mama's in Hilton Head, SC for
becoming champion of the first Thin Mint
Throwdown, held at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort on September 26, 2015. She and
Chef David Weikert of The Pirates' House, Savannah competed before more than 300
people during this signature event for GSHG. The evening included a performance by an
all-girl dance troupe, live auction and presentation featuring Gold Award recipients from the
area. What a great way to celebrate Girl Scouts and raise some money to support our
awesome programs for Georgia girls. Thank you to everyone who came out to support
GSHG! Can't wait 'til next year!

paired, gently-used (reusable and rewearable) women's, men's or kids' shoes. ShoeBox
Recycling will pay $.50 per pound for paired, secondhand shoes. Collect your shoes, fill

Extended December shop hours: Augusta, Athens, Gainesville, Macon
and Savannah will be open the first Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Columbus shop will be open Dec. 3, 14 and 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and
on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The Athens shop will be open an
additional Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. during the Holiday Jubilee.
Don't forget cookie dough credits expire on Dec. 15, 2015!
In addition to the regular Girl Scout Starter Kits available for girls, GSHG is also offering

of Thanksgiving.

troops on the move
1.) Girl Scout Troop #40436 from Adel won 1st place for their parade float in the 34th
Annual Hahira Honey Bee Festival Parade in October. The theme of their float was
"Honoring American Legion Post #218."
2.) Girl Scout Troop #50278 participated in the Paint the Town Pink event in Phenix City
and won 2nd place for their booth at the event.
3.) Girl Scout Troop #27021 from the Greater Clarks Hill Service Area planned their very
own Girl Scout re-"dead"-ication ceremony with a zombie theme! While the girls are now
freshmen and sophomores in high school, their troop has been together since first grade.
4.) Girl Scout Troop #30261 from Richmond Hill recently volunteered at the Georgia State
Park Clean-Up Day at Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill, GA.
5.) Girl Scout Troop #20158 from the Augusta area visited Washington Farms in
Watkinsville, Georgia. The girls worked together as a team to get through the corn maze
and enjoyed the activities there so much that they've decided to go back every year as a
"Back to Scouting" tradition!
6.) Girl Scout Troop #30347 from Marshes of Glynn attended the "Wizards and Wands"
event at Camp Low in Savannah where they made jewelry out of computer parts, ate
hotdogs and s'mores by the camp fire and watched a Harry Potter movie in the lodge.
(They were some tired muggles and slept the whole way home!)
7.) Girl Scout Cadette Troop #30340 from Marshes of Glynn attended an all-day
"STEMfest" at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro that featured over 70 booths with
"hands-on" activities. Girls learned about handling unknown chemicals safely at the EPA
mobile center on site.
8.) Girl Scout Troop #40445 from Valdosta created foster care bags for Raintree Village, a
local foster care home. The girls cut and hand knotted fleece blankets out of a bolt of
donated fleece fabric and bought supplies (books, stuffed animals, travel toiletries, activities
and nightlights) for 10 separate foster care bags.
