N - Sea Pines Resort
Harbour Town Golf Links opened to immediate fanfare as host of the
inaugural Heritage Classic on Thanksgiving weekend in 1969 and
crowned Arnold Palmer as its first champion.
Course architect Pete Dye and design consultant Jack Nicklaus created
an instant classic that requires accurate shot making to navigate
narrow fairway corridors lined with moss covered live oaks, palmettos,
tall pines, magnolias, and menacing lagoons. Harbour Town’s small
greens, large waste bunkers, tiny pot bunkers, and wooden bulkhead
features have since become signature Dye trademarks.
Measuring 6,973 yards from the Heritage tees with a course rating
of 75.0 and slope of 146, the par-71 course is deceptively short by
today’s standards. Throughout the round, a player must not only
find the fairway, but often must be on the proper side of the fairway
to safely reach the green. Ironically, the famous par 4 18th hole plays
across the tidal marshes of the Calibogue Sound to one of the widest
landing areas in championship golf. The memorable approach plays
over the hazard to a well-guarded green with the candy-striped
lighthouse standing sentinel in the distance.
Harbour Town’s quartet of par 3’s is among the finest collections in
the game. Holes 4 and 14 play to small bulk-headed greens protected
by water. The unique 7th green is surrounded by sand, live oaks, and
palmettos. Finally, the picturesque 17th with lagoon and trademark
Dye bunkering is influenced by the breezes off the Calibogue Sound.
Harbour Town encourages walking at any time and offers both
walking caddies and forecaddies to enhance your experience.
When Using This Guide
Distances to terrain features or strategic point are measured
from bronze markers on each tee (•) or edge of tee ( A, B,... ).
Distances to front and back edges of par three greens are
measured from bronze markers on par three tees
Measurements from terrain features are measured to center of
the green ( 167 ).
(•) Denotes sprinkler head yardage to the center of the green.
All marked sprinkler heads are measured to the front edge,
center, and back edge of greens.
Waste areas on holes 2, 3 ,5, 6, 8, 11, 12, and 15 to be
played as through the green.
Green depth in yards is in indicated above green enlargement
and located above the hole graphic on par 3 holes ( D = 24 ).

The PGA Tour scores here.
Long hitters may reach this
green in two if they favor
the left side of fairway.
The second shot should be
played left center as well to
avoid the large oak and pine
which protect this diagonal
green.

The aggressive line off the
tee is just right of the left
fairway bunker. From
here, you have the choice of
attacking this well-guarded
green or laying up to a favorite
yardage for approach. This
green is narrow and slopes
from left to right.

requires a well-placed drive
to dead center of fairway.
The massive oak and waste
area can hinder approach
shots from the right. There
is plenty of room short and
right of green to scramble
and take the left bunker and
water out of play.

Distance control is a
premium here. Water
lurks short and right. A
tiny pot bunker will collect

A well executed shot will
