The dials, which are available in the traditional colours of the brand or in new and original shades,
are frequently presented in beautiful finishes, such as “guilloché” or “Clous de Paris”, thereby achieving special light effects.
The beauty, elegance and singularity of Cuervo y Sobrinos dials have already become a reference point at international
level. The watch straps are meticulously hand-stitched and are available in high quality leather or more modern and
daring materials, such as natural rubber. The buckle, in each of its variants, is personalised with the brand’s logo.
Between tradition and innovation
The watch cases are die-cut from a single block of metal; they are successively subjected
to heat tempering processes and cleaning treatments to give them strength and shine.
The skills and experience of the Swiss master watchmakers are essential in combining
traditional fabrication methods and the most modern production techniques, with the
support of maximum precision machines. The brand is determined to keep moving
forward and invests in the use of innovative materials within the watchmaking field, such
as bronze, titanium, silicium or carbon fiber, as well as the more usual steel and gold.

Creating something beautiful
takes time, the right time.
The time when craftsmanship was considered art, when
the use of anything but the finest materials was sacrosanct,
and when, upon completion, the craftsman could take pride
in what he so carefully wrought. Cuervo y Sobrinos watches
are of this time. The late 1800’s – glittering nightlife, casinos,
big bands and balmy weather, “La Habana´s” glamour
made it the “Pearl of the Caribbean” and the international

destination of bon vivant society. In this select climate of
sophistication, Armando Rio y Cuervo and his family
managed the jewelry and watchmaker shop started by his
uncle Ramón and Cuervo y Sobrinos (Cuervo and Nephews)
was born. The intellectuals, adventurers and businessmen
who were drawn to the lively beat of La Habana society
became proud wearers of these exclusive timepieces.

AT A GLANCE:
La Habana, 1950S
In less than half a century, the quality of Cuervo y Sobrinos
watches and the brand’s Latin spirit led to international
expansion with three new offices in Europe’s watchmaking
nerve centers: Pforzheim, Germany where the precious stones
are selected; Paris’s Rue Meslay, where the most prestigious
pieces of jewelry are made; and finally, Switzerland, where
the company founded its own factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds,
the ticking heart of the watchmaking industry. In addition
to their own creations, Cuervo y Sobrinos distributed and
sold the most important brands in global watchmaking.
The family achieved such renown that some of the great
watch brands engraved the Cuervo y Sobrinos name on their
watch dials. This made the family-owned Cuban firm an
international reference point with a respected place among
the most outstanding watchmaking brands in the world.
The splendor and fame of Cuervo y Sobrinos in 1950’s
La Habana survives not only in the passion for collecting
these valuable and exclusive timepieces, but also in a
new generation of aficionados who treasure the superb
new timepieces inspired by the refined, cosmopolitan
sensibility that was the very essence of La Habana.

“El Libro de Oro”
Owning a Cuervo y Sobrinos watch is owning a legacy, an artifact of a bygone era when luxury was defined by a rare level of quality and by
those who recognized it. Throughout the years a loyal and illustrious clientele from the international world of literature, science, film and politics
came to the Cuervo y Sobrinos boutique when they visited the island. The “Libro de Oro” (Golden Book) and the photos kept in the back room
of the old shop bear witness to the international elite: Ernest Hemingway, Enrico Caruso, Clark Gable, Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein who
considered Cuervo y Sobrinos the perfect expression of the Cuban lifestyle. These international luminaries loved the brand’s heritage; at the same
time some of the most established Swiss manufacturers sought to be associated with the very popular, and only Latin timepieces in the world.

The exclusive Museum-Boutique in La Habana
In an historic event in the summer of 2009, Cuervo y Sobrinos became the first luxury brand to open in La Habana when it cut the ribbon on its
magnificent museum and shop in an emblematic 19th century building facing the firm’s former head office. This large Art Deco space, called
“El Reloj Cuervo y Sobrinos”, exhibits the most historic models from the Cuervo y Sobrinos archives, and also houses a museum of watchmaking
and an elegant bar for meetings. Within the refined atmosphere of the boutique stands the original Cuervo y Sobrinos safe, moved to its new
surroundings from the original shop in Calle San Rafael. Here it takes pride of place as a monument to the brand’s legacy which underpins the
contemporary mission of Cuervo y Sobrinos: to design and build exquisitely crafted timepieces that are coveted by those with discerning taste.
