PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE linda murray - President
Welcome to the 155th Elmvale Fall Fair. One hundred and fifty five years
of community spirit in Elmvale, what an achievement. We are pleased to
also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of 4-H in Ontario this year as well. A
joint celebration between these two organizations is being held in August
with a family barbeque, a great way to launch the festivities.
I would like to thank the many Directors and Volunteers who help to make the Elmvale Fall
Fair one of the best in Ontario. We would also like to thank the Parents, Students and Staff
of the local schools for their time and effort in making our children's exhibits such a resounding success. To the Exhibitors in the Homecraft Division and Quilters, wow, what examples
of craftsmanship you display at our Fair. Our Domestic Science exhibitors make mouths
water, with their delectable creations. Finally, to the Livestock Owners that show their
animals in the different competitions, you show that agriculture is still alive and well in the
province of Ontario. Thank you to all!
Come and celebrate the Elmvale Fall Fair on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend.
Bring your entire family and create some memories!!!

Fall Fair Ambassador 2014-2015 matt Garwood
Being an individual who has been born and raised in Elmvale, I have developed
a strong appreciation and dedication to this community. Elmvale is not just a
town, it is a family. It is a place where everyone knows each other by name and
a community that actively looks out for one another. Ever since I can remember,
my favorite time of the year was the Elmvale Fall Fair. It was, and is a time that
our community could come together and demonstrate leadership, togetherness
and solidarity in a positive and fun atmosphere. As soon as I was eligible, I got
involved in the Fair in any way that I could. At the age of 13, I was gratefully rewarded with the opportunity of being the 2008 Junior Ambassador. As the years
went on, I knew I wanted to represent our town as a Sr. Ambassador, and in October, 2014 my dream came true.
Throughout my time as Ambassador, I have learned more about the Fair and what goes into making
it possible every year. I have come to admire the respected individuals that present themselves on the
Fair Board and are truly grateful for all of the hard work and dedication they put into making the Fair
as special as it is. The Fair would not happen without all of our volunteers, and at this time I would like
to personally thank everyone who has ever helped with the Fair, you are truly appreciated within our
community. The Elmvale Fall Fair is one of the times that our town looks forward to the most, and I
would like to encourage everyone to get involved as there is something for every interest.
My time representing the Fair has been extremely rewarding and has taught me all about our Agricultural Society and how different Fairs are unique to ours. Although it will be a hard day when I pass the
Ambassador title and Sash down to the next leader of our Fair, it has been an amazing experience representing our community and I look forward to the remaining months as your Ambassador. I truly look
forward to many more years of Maple Syrup Festivals and Annual Fall Fairs in my future and I look forward to spending many more years with our Town, Community and Family, Elmvale.
Junior Fair Ambassador 2014-2015 lauren Rheinheimer
Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Rheinheimer and this year I have the privilege of representing the
Flos Agricultural Society as the 2014-2015 Junior Ambassador!
I am a grade 7 student and a resident of Elmvale since I was born. I consider myself a lucky youth
being fortunate enough to live in this amazing rural and plentiful agricultural
area.
So far throughout my term as junior ambassador it has been amazing. I have
learned to present myself properly and confidently.
As a role model to youth my age and younger, I will continue to set good examples to the people around me.
I encourage all youth who live in our area to participate in this competition,
and whenever volunteer opportunities arise.
One of my favorite quotes is “Remember that the happiest people are not
those getting more, but those giving more.” by H. Jackson Brown Jr.
I would like to thank the Elmvale Fair Board for giving me the chance to experience what being a Junior Ambassador is all about!

Due to this year's outbreaks of Avian Influenza in Ontario, we have made the decision
to cancel all our poultry classes for our Fair.
While there is virtually no human health risk related to this virus, we need to help our
local poultry farmers protect their industry from the possibility of further outbreaks and
work diligently to prevent the movement of this virus. This is a particularly difficult task,
given that it is believed that the virus is transmitted through migratory birds.
We hope to be able to resume this show next year. We thank you for your understanding.

(John) or the website at masonichip.ca
Each participant in Masonic C.H.I.P. receives a comprehensive package containing digital photos, digital videos, digital finger-prints, vital child information, a dental bite impression and
an oral DNA swab. The first four items are burned onto a CD and along with all other items
placed in a sealed envelope and given to the family for their retention with the sincere hope
they will never be required to use it during an emergency situation. All of the collected information is then immediately deleted from the computers.
“Why bother with these programs?” Unfortunately in 2008 alone, there were over 56 thousand disappearances and in the first hours of each, the Police will request the type of information that we provide on each individual. Reasons for each disappearance are: stranger –
56, accident - 37, wandered off – 560, parental – 300, runaways – 40,289, unknown – 12,441,

RULES AND GUIDELINES
Number of competitors will be limited in each class.
Tractors must be pre-registered, with local residents living within a 25 km radius of Elmvale
having until September 15th, 2015 to register. After September 15th, registration will be
opened up to non-residents. A “Grandfather Exemption” may apply at the discretion of the
tractor pull committee.
Participants must provide proof of insurance coverage for their tractor at time of registration.
Each driver is only allowed to drive one tractor in one class during the pull. If registering
more than one tractor, each additional tractor must have a new driver. Note: New “open”
classes will be exempt from this rule.
Drivers will not be allowed to move up to the next class.
A puller and one helper will be allowed free admission to the grounds.
Drivers must be at least 16 years of age. If under 18 years of age, driver must have parent’s
consent.
All vehicles are subject to an inspection. Each tractor may only be entered by one driver in a
class. Each driver may only drive one tractor in a class, except specialty classes.
No one is allowed on the track except persons running the tractor pull, and the contestant.
All pulling vehicles must be weighed prior to the competition. The maximum weight per class
includes both the pulling vehicle and the driver.
All pulling vehicles must have an operator in the driver’s seat while being started.
All pulls must be started from a tight chain, and on the raising of a green flag by the flag man.
All pulls shall operate with 2 flag men on the lefthand side of the track. The starting flag man
will be responsible for the readiness of the track, pulling machine and contestant. The second
flag man will be responsible for the balance of the course, under the guidance of the Track
Official.
All vehicles must be in neutral or park (transmission selector) while being hitched or unhitched. Driver must raise both hands while hooking and unhooking.
Puller may have the sled spotted in the location of his choice with sufficient notice to the
pull-back tractor operator during the return of the sled to the starting line following previous
pull. If preceding puller moves the sled any measurable distance, the next puller may have
the sled relocated prior to his first attempt.
Any contestant who wishes to make his draw in a different gear from which he started his
pull, may opt to stop his vehicle before the 75 foot mark. At this point the sled will be returned to the starting position and one new draw will be allowed.
At the discretion of the pull committee, the first contestant of each class will be the “test
puller” and at the completion of his or her pull may elect to pull again in 3rd position. If a
driver elects to do this, his first pull will not be counted. All decisions or re-pulls must be
made before the pulling vehicle is unhooked from the sled.
Tractors must be stopped immediately upon signal from the flag man. The signal will be the
raising of a red flag by the flag man located alongside the edge of the track on the lefthand
side of the pulling vehicle. The pull will be considered over when the forward motion of the
sled stops.
Drivers must remain seated at all times during their pull.
No riders in or on pulling vehicles while pulling.
All vehicles must have functioning brakes.
All weights must be securely fastened on brackets and NOT in the cab or on the platform
(no chains). The weights must not obscure the forward or rear vision of the driver.
elmvalefallfair.com
23. The hitch must be rigid in all directions, and solidly mounted to the vehicle frame.
24. “D” Hitching Device: The diameter of the square or oval hole is a minimum of 3 inches at the
longest measuring points of the hole. From the rear point of the hole to the rear point of
the hitching device is a maximum of 1-1/2 inches.
25. Hitch point must be visible and clear for sled hook-up.
26. All tractors must be put in a staging area following weigh-in, and not returned to the pit area.
27. Pressurized fuels such as propane or nitrous oxide are not allowed as a secondary fuel.
28. The persons competing must drive the tractor onto the track and off (unless disabled) after
competing, with no change of driver.
29. The contestant must proceed with pull at position drawn within 3 minutes of the time the
sled is ready. If a puller has a mechanical problem he must drop to the last position. Rule
called by Track Official.
30. All participants must obey the rules of the Ontario Tractor Pullers Association.
31. Stock tractors must have hood, floorboards, grill, fenders and be stock appearing. Engines
must be stock or manufacturer’s replacement for that model.
32. No four-wheel drive or dual-wheeled tractors shall compete against two-wheel drive tractors.
33. On tractors weighing up to 8,500 lbs. The maximum drawbar height is 18 inches from the
top of the hitching device to the ground. On tractors weighing 10,000 lbs. or over, the maximum height is 20 inches from the top of the hitching device to the ground. The minimum
drawbar length is 18 inches from the centre of the rear wheel to the point of the hook.
34. Stock tractors with a turbocharger may pull all stock tractor classes, as long as the turbo
is/was factory warranted with the tractor.
35. Tractor exhaust systems with no mufflers must be pointed away from the crowd. Turbo
tractors with no mufflers must have two 3/8 grade 5 bolts in vertical portion of exhaust pipe.

Thank You To All Of Our Volunteers
The Board of Directors of the Flos Agricultural Society would like to sincerely thank all
those people who repeatedly volunteer their time, equipment and expertise to assist in
the preparation, organization and presentation of our Fair every Thanksgiving
weekend. There are far too many names to list, but you know who you are, and we
would like you to know that without your assistance, we could not provide the much
anticipated “Homecoming” weekend for everyone to enjoy, while also attending one of
the very best Fairs in the Province of Ontario each and every year.
