Thank you for purchasing the Alta Performance intercooler diverter and sprayer kit. Installation should only be performed by persons experienced
in the proper operation of Mini engines. Please read through all the instructions before performing the installation. FOR CONVERTIBLE
MODELS ADDITIONAL HARDWARE WILL BE REQUIRED FOR WATER SPRAY HOOK UP. SEE YOUR ALTA DEALER OR TECH
SUPPORT FOR MORE INFORMATION PRIOR TO ORDERING.

Use of the factory service manual, can be very helpful during the installation. These can be purchased as the dealership, or online.
http://www.realoem.com has diagrams for the entire car, which can also be helpful.
It is very helpful to have a bent awl to install the OEM intercooler back to the manifold. This will make the job go much easier.
Parts Included with the ALTA Intercooler Diverter:

(1) Black or Silver R53 Intercooler diverter with trim installed
(1) Color matched Silicone coupler set (red, black or blue)
(1) Water Squirter
(1) 5/16-24 nut
(7’) 5/32” vacuum hose
(1) 3/16” tee
(8) Zipties

INSTALLATION:
1. Remove (4) torx screws holding OEM diverter to intercooler. Remove (8) torx screws and (4) clamps holding intercooler couplers.
2. Remove intercooler brackets (4) 8mm bolts. Remove intercooler from engine.
3. Remove hood mounted plastic diverter with (2) screws & (2) nuts. Reinstall (2) nuts back onto factory hood scoop to hold in place. Plastic
diverter will not be reinstalled!!

Prepare ALTA diverter for installation. Insert squirter nozzle into diverter. Aim slots toward rear of intercooler. Tighten using supplied nut.
Install supplied hose onto squirter. Secure with supplied cable tie. Hose routing is described below. Route hose down in front of engine.

Install ALTA silicone couplers onto each end of intercooler. Place factory intercooler coupler clamp bottoms in stock locations.
Install intercooler on right side of engine. Use bent awl to slide couplers over manifold. Carefully install left side of intercooler on manifold.
Again using a bent awl, slide coupler over manifold. NOTE: MAKE SURE NOT TO PUNCTURE COUPLERS WHEN INSTALLING.

Re-install factory coupler clamps and tighten. Re-install intercooler brackets.
Place new diverter over intercooler. Tighten diverter using factory hardware.
Route hose toward firewall(on passenger side of vehicle) through small hole at the bottom of plastic shroud. Secure hose using cable ties.
10. Install ALTA diverter to intercooler using OEM screws. Make sure screws do not get cross threaded.
11. The water spray feed tube can be found at the back right side of the fire wall. Find plastic union for the rear window washer feed line just
below the hood seal where the feed line enters the engine compartment.
12. OPTION ONE: Sprayer will be activated simultaneously with rear wiper/squirter.
a. Insert supplied “T” fitting between rear sprayer hose and factory pump.
b. Connect hose from squirter (already passed through plastic wall) to “T” fitting.
c. Activate squirter and test for leaks.
13. OPTION TWO: Sprayer will be activated using factory rear wiper switch. Rear wiper will NOT be activated. NOTE: This option will completely
disconnect rear wiper/washer combination.
a. Disconnect rear washer supply hose going to rear of car.
b. Connect hose from squirter (using factory one to one fitting) to hose going to passenger water tank.
c. Open rear hatch. Remove (6) screws and interior trim panel. See picture below.
d. Disconnect wiper motor. See picture below.
e. Reinstall trim and test squirter
