General Rules & Regulations
ENTRY CLOSING: Entries must be postmarked by date indicated and received within 7 days of the postmark.
ENTRY PROCEDURES:
a) For each horse entered, you must pay a $100 Registration Fee and a stall fee ($250 for Grand Prix barns and $225 for other barns). You
may include a check for this amount or complete the credit card section on the entry blank and your credit card will be charged this amount
on the entry closing date. DO NOT send in a signed, open check. If you do, it will be filled out for the proper amount and deposited on the
entry closing date. LEG does not encourage the practice of sending signed, open checks through the mail.
b) If you plan to pay your final bill with a check, please bring this signed, open check to the office when checking in and picking up your horse’s
number. If you plan to pay your final bill with a credit card, please bring the card with you when checking in so that an imprint can be made.
b) The following sections of the entry form MUST be completely filled out: horse’s name and USEF/USHJA number, owner’s name and USEF/
USHJA number, trainer’s name and USEF/USHJA number and all riders names and USEF/USHJA numbers. To speed up the check-in
process, the entire entry blank be completed, however, the other parts may be completed upon your arrival at the office.
c) Entries received by the closing date and adhering to the entry procedure outlined will receive a $50 Good Entry Discount. Late entries,
incomplete entries and entries made at the show will simply pay the Registration Fee without discount. There is no late fee or late penalty.
d) USEF, USHJA, ASPCA, PCHA, CPHA, NORCAL and various other organizations have specific requirements for entry and participation in
certain or all classes at this competition. Proof of membership for owners, riders and trainers, USEF Pony, Junior and Small Hunter
measurement cards and horse recording numbers are among the items that sanctioning organizations require. Competitors are responsible
for knowledge of the requisite rules and for providing the required data. Non-member, Show Pass and other fees may be assessed if these
items are not available. Competitors may be refused entry into certain classes if required data is not provided.
REGISTRATION FEE: Every horse must pay a $100 Registration Fee
when entering the show. There is no longer an Office Fee.
GOOD ENTRY DISCOUNT: If the entry is on-time, properly completed and
includes the proper payments, a $50 Good Entry Discount will be applied to
the account.
ADDING REGULAR CLASSES: If you wish to add a regular class after
initially checking in and picking up your number, you must do so by 5pm the
day before the class is to be held and you must add it on an Add / Scratch
Form or Trainer Sheet. Adds after 5pm or same day adds will only be
allowed if the schedule in that ring is not full. Same day adds MUST be
done on an Add / Scratch Form, NOT a Trainer Sheet, and MUST be given
to the starter BEFORE the start of the class that was added. In any case,
there is no charge to add a regular class.
SCRATCHING REGULAR CLASSES: If you do not intend to show in a
regular class you have entered, you MUST scratch it on an Add / Scratch
Form or Trainer Form in the horse show office before the class begins.
There will be no charge for this. Scratches may not be done after a class
has started. Telling the starter at the back gate that you are not going or
simply not showing up will result in forfeiture of the entry fee. STARTERS
DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SCRATCH YOU FROM A CLASS.
ADDING / SCRATCHING SPECIAL CLASSES: Adds and scratches
should be made by 5pm the day before the class is held. Adds after this
time, if accepted, will pay a Post Entry Fee of $25 and must go first in the
order. Scratches from these classes must be done in the horse show office
by 5pm the day before the class is held. Scratches after this time will forfeit
the entry fee unless due to an injury to horse or rider and a vet certificate
(from the official horse show veterinarian only) or medical release form
(from the official horse show medical personnel only) is presented to the
office at the time of the scratch.
JUMPER NOMINATING FEE: Horses entered in any 1.20m and higher
jumper class must be nominated and pay a $100 Jumper Nominating Fee.
This fee is not required to be paid in advance and will be automatically
added to your account when you enter any nominated jumper classes.
SHOW SCRATCH (a horse entered but scratched from the entire show
prior to going in any classes): On or before the closing date of entries, all
fees shall be refunded. After the closing date of entries, the $100
Registration Fee is not refundable and is forfeited as a Show Scratch
Fee. If the entry qualified for the Good Entry Discount, then the discount of
$50 will be refunded or applied to another horse show. The stall fee is nonrefundable unless the stall can be re-sold to another competitor. All other
fees are fully refundable. All show scratches must be submitted in writing
before the end of the show. No show scratch refund requests will be
processed after the show is over.
EQUITATION ENTRIES: Equitation riders must wear the number of the
horse they are entered on. Numbers are assigned to horses, not riders. If a
rider wishes to change horses for an equitation class, they may do so
without penalty; however, the proper paperwork must be completed in the
show office prior to the start of the class. Exhibitors changing horses without
notifying the office will forfeit their entry fee on the original horse and be
charged the entry fee plus an RDNE Fee on the new horse.
SUBSTITUTIONS: With a vet’s certificate, a new horse may be substituted
for a show scratched horse as long as the scratched horse has not shown
in any classes and both horses are registered under the same trainer. The
scratched horse’s Registration Fee and stall fee are transferred to the
substituted horse with no penalty or charge.
RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason are
regarded as a most serious offense. A 10% PENALTY WILL BE
ASSESSED FOR EVERY RETURNED CHECK (MINIMUM OF $50.00)!
Accounts will be given seven (7) days to be paid in full with cash or cash
equivalent or they will be turned into the USEF for disciplinary action.
RDNE (Rode Did Not Enter): Entries that show in a class not properly
entered will be charged the class entry fee plus a $25.00 RDNE Fee.
Starters are not responsible for keeping you out of classes that you are not
officially entered in.

Join us for a YJC celebration during
the stake classes on Friday
afternoon in the Main Jumper Ring.
The Young Jumper Championship has been organized to provide an opportunity for tomorrow’s Grand Prix horses to compete in meaningful competition against
their peers. Offered for Five, Six, and Seven / Eight Year Old Horses that are recorded with the YJC and USEF. Horses not previously recorded may apply at the
Show Office for YJC and USEF recording upon presentation of the horse’s Breed Registration papers and payment. Horses are then eligible to enter all YJC
events. Competing successfully in Qualifying Classes is a pre-requisite for competing in the League Finals for the YJC, to be held on both the East and West
Coasts. Please visit the YJC web-site at www. youngjumpers.com for complete rules. The final class of each age section is a stake class and counts towards YJC
qualifying. Entry must show in at least one other class in a respective section to be eligible for the stake class.

to determine an overall grand champion. A collection jar will be available in the horse show office for anyone wishing to donate to the added prize
money. 50% of what is collected in this jar will be distributed equally to the two classes. The other 50% of what is collected in the jar will be

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE - All Shows: Arrival after 10:00am each
Monday and departure by 8:00pm each Sunday. Early arrivals or late
departures MUST be arranged in advance by contacting Melessa Lee at
805-495-8884 or by emailing her at [email protected].
MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Three entries are required to hold a
class (exception: medal classes with other minimum requirements and
classics / special classes). Regular classes with less than three entries may
be canceled, combined or held at management’s discretion.
VENDORS: For vendor information, please email Melessa Lee at
[email protected].
PARKING AND TRAFFIC: All trucks, autos, golf carts and other motorized

the maximum speed limit of 10 miles per hour and must stay on the Horse
Park roadways at all times.

on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any
damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs’ behaviors.
Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under
Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards.
FEED AND BEDDING: If you want your pre-order of feed and bedding
waiting for you upon your arrival, be sure to fill out the Feed & Bedding
Order Form, located on the LEG website under Woodside Horse Shows,
and submit with your entries. These pre-orders will be dropped in front of
your stalls the day before you arrive and disputes regarding quantities will
not be permitted. During the show, feed and bedding orders placed before
11:00am will be delivered same day. Orders placed after 11:00am will be
delivered the next day. No orders on Sundays. NO OUTSIDE SHAVINGS
MAY BE DELIVERED OR BROUGHT TO THE SHOW.
CONFLICTS: It is the intention of management to avoid holding rings to
wait for horses and riders. Riders with conflicts must arrange their jumping
order with the starters so that they will not hold up a class. Trainer conflicts
are not considered legitimate conflicts. Starters have the authority to scratch
horses and riders who are not timely or who do not follow their instructions.
GROUNDS FEE: A Grounds Fee of $45 per day will be charged for horses
that are showing that are not occupying a stall. Exception: Horses that pay
regular monthly board to the Horse Park at Woodside are exempt from
paying this fee.
NON-U.S. EXHIBITORS: The legend “U.S. Funds” must be printed on the
face of any check drawn on a non-U.S. bank and used to pay any fees for
these shows. Entries received that do not adhere to this policy will be
returned. No exceptions.
SECTION ENTRY FEES: After showing in the first class of any section
requiring a section entry fee, no refunds will be given for scratching any
classes within the section for any reason.
MOTORIZED VEHICLES / GOLF CARTS: In accordance with GR1301.7:
Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to
operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be
permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not
limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the
competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid
temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as
long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The
parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a
parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of
this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions
resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for
sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are
responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include
exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the
competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being
filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6.
Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with
disabilities are exempt from this rule.
PRIZE MONEY / AWARDS: Prize money checks will be mailed or handdelivered to the owner within 30 days after the show. NO PRIZE MONEY
WILL BE MAILED UNLESS THE SOCIAL SECURITY # OR TAX ID # OF
THE OWNER OR PAYEE IS LISTED ON THE ENTRY BLANK. All purses
and add-backs shall be divided as follows unless otherwise specified: 1st 30%, 2nd - 22%, 3rd - 15%, 4th - 12%, 5th - 11% and 6th - 10%. Ribbons to
eighth place in all regular classes and tenth place to all classics and special
classes unless otherwise stated.
NON-SHOWING FEE: Stalls are available for non-showing horses only if
the show is not sold out. Contact Melessa Lee for information regarding stall
availability for non-showing horses. Horses stabled but not entered in the
show must complete an entry blank and pay the $100 Registration Fee.

show with water and 30 amp electric. Two pump-outs are included
(Thursdays and Sundays). The pumper truck must have clear access to
your unit in order to pump it. Units blocked by vehicles, or units with

park where management designates. Reservations must be made on the
entry form and payment made in full when sending in the entry form.
CLOSED RINGS: Riders may not enter any ring marked as closed.
ABUSE: Competitors who abuse horses will be eliminated by the judge and
may be subject to fines and/or penalties. Abuse includes, but is not limited
to, use of the whip four or more times in a row anywhere on a horse; use of
the whip even once in front of the horse’s shoulder; use of a whip so hard
that it leaves welts or marks on a horse’s body.

General Rules & Regulations
MEDICAL WASTE: In accordance with the 1989 Federal Waste Tracking
Act, which restricts the disposal of medical waste, and the rules of USEF,
Bio Hazardous Medical Waste Containers (Sharps boxes) will be provided
in the stable area. All exhibitors and their agents are responsible for the
proper disposal of their hazardous waste.
CROSS COUNTRY COURSE: Trails and galloping tracks are open to
competitors for hacking; helmets required. No jumping is allowed on the
cross country course unless you are a Horse Park at Woodside member.
The Horse Park reserves the right to close the cross country course, in
which case signage will be posted and all horse show competitors must
refrain from riding on it.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Alcoholic beverages of any kind may not be
consumed on the show grounds except when inside of RVs and at
scheduled horse show parties and special horse show functions that are
confined to a specific location.
TRAINER SPLITS: These shows offer a service that allows trainers to
have their tack stall, feed and bedding split evenly among their clients’
horse show bills by completing a Trainer Tack, Feed & Bedding Split Form.
Deadlines for filing Trainer Split Forms will be posted in the horse show
office. Please advise your clients that these charges will appear on their
show bill. Only dollar amounts will be split (not quantities) and totals will be
rounded up to the next whole dollar amount. Uncollected splits will revert
back to the trainer.

BEDDING: Exhibitors may NOT bring bedding onto Horse Park grounds for
personal or commercial use. All bedding must be purchased from the feed
and bedding concession through the horse show office.
ADD BACK PRIZE MONEY: In classes with add back, prize money is
computed from the number of horses that actually show. Horses entered
but not shown will forfeit their add back.
CORRECT NUMBERS: Exhibitors are responsible for insuring that correct
membership, ID and recording numbers are listed on entry blanks and other
pertinent documents. Incorrect numbers may cause points to be reported
for the wrong horse, owner and rider.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: It is compulsory for all persons at Federation
licensed hunter, jumper, or hunter/jumper competitions when mounted
anywhere on the show grounds, to wear properly fastened protective
headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM / SEI standards for equestrian
use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured.
It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the
junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate
safety standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is
properly fitted and in good condition, and the Federation, Show Committee,
and Licensed Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for
such compliance.
CANCELING AND COMBINING OF CLASSES: At 5:00pm each day, the
schedule for the next day is created. Classes with less than the entry
minimums are either canceled or combined with other classes, if possible.
Then the schedule is published, the class sheets are printed and judge’s
cards finalized. Please note, that in order to create a realistic schedule and
accurate time estimates, any classes canceled or combined WILL NOT BE
UNCANCELED OR UNCOMBINED, regardless of how many entries
actually show or wish to show in them. So be sure you are entered in all
your desired classes by 5:00pm the day before.
MEMBERSHIP / MEASUREMENT CARDS: Don't forget to include
photocopies of your USEF / USHJA Membership Cards, Amateur Card (if
you are a USEF amateur) and any measurement cards (for Ponies or Junior
Hunters) when mailing your entries in. This will speed up the check-in
process. If you don't, be prepared to show them in the office on the day you
check-in. Exhibitor numbers cannot be released without the proper
credentials.
SCHOOLING SUPERVISION: Please be advised that starters also serve
as schooling supervisors and have authority, as agents of management, to
enforce USEF schooling rules.
POLING: Poling and the use of offsets ARE NOT permitted at any time,
anywhere on the show grounds.
5:00PM DEADLINE FOR NEXT DAY ADDS: Please remember that all
adds for the next day are due in the horse show office by 5:00pm. Any adds
done after this time are considered same day adds and will only be
accepted if the following day’s schedule permits.
