On October 27th, Promise Neighborhood held a Fall Festival for children
in the community. There were Halloween and fall activities, including
bingo, trivia, pumpkin decorating, coloring sheets and snacks! We had
over 50 people in attendance too!

We would like to thank PRUP for supporting our event and their
children who were a big help with the games.

Is there something
you’d like to see in
the newsletter? Is
there something we
could be doing
better?
We look forward to
your call or visit.
Can’t make it? We’ll
see you on our
walk-throughs of the
community!
PNFSC would also like to thank the Camden County Police Department
for their involvement with our event. Lieutenant Felix Rivera was kind
enough to enroll the help of Officers Virginia Matias and Damian
Caraballo to discuss safety. The kids were appreciative of their presence
and really engaged with the officers, talking about every day activities
and what it is like to be a police officer.
Below are some photos of the afternoon and are continued on page 4!

Paint a paper cup brown. Turn the cup upside down and
glue a pom-pom to the top of the cup for the head.
Cut nine 4-inch leaf shapes from different colors
of construction paper. Fold a 1-inch-square piece of
orange construction paper in half; cut a triangle shape
out of the folded paper for the beak. Using a 2-inch
square of red paper folded in half, cut a heart shape to
create the turkey's wattle.
Glue the beak and wattle to the pom-pom. Add googly
eyes. Glue on the “feathers.”

Test your Veteran’s Day IQ!
Did you know:

In November of 1919, President Wilson declared the
11th day of the 11th month Armistice Day, a day to
commemorate the ending of World War I on November
11, 1918, also known as the end of “the war to end
all wars.”

When the United States Congress recognized the signing
of the Treaty of Versailles and the end of World War I on
June 4, 1926, they proclaimed:


“Whereas it is fitting that the recurring anniversary
of this date should be commemorated with
thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to
perpetuate peace through good will and mutual
understanding between nations.”
Self-reflection: How do you think the United States
and the people abide by this recommendation for
this day?

Armistice Day was declared a legal holiday in the United
States on May 13, 1938 to honor World War I veterans
and world peace.

With the conclusion of World War II, Congress felt
Armistice Day should commemorate all war veterans,
hereby declaring November 11th as Veteran’s Day.
Thank your
veterans on
Wednesday,
November 11th for
their service and
dedication to our
country!!
