Faculty of Economics and Business Maribor, one of the biggest and oldest Faculties at University of Maribor, has
more than 50 years of tradition in the field of university education on undergraduate and graduate level with more
than 27.000 students graduated. Faculty of Economics and Business started with study programmes in Business
Informatics nearly 40 years ago.
Faculty of Economics and Business changed
its programmes and aligned them
according to Bologna principles agreed
between EU countries in the city of Bologna
in 2006. Within changes implemented new
3 years undergraduate programme
E-business replaced old Business
informatics programme, while on master
level new programme Management of
e-business replaced old master
COMPETENCIES OF GRADUATES
programme.
During restructuring of the programme focus, content and scope of
the programme changed. Graduates of e-business programme are
economists/business professional with general knowledge of
business/management and with in-depth knowledge of IT/IS
concepts and management issues and with ability to understand and
to work with business solutions in e-business environment. They can
be employed by business solution vendors as well as by companies
using business solutions and seeking experts for broarder e-business
concepts implementation.

CORE COURSES
The programme consists of general and elective courses common for all programmes of Faculty of Economics and
Business and of e-business specific courses.
Core e-business courses in second and third year of the programme are:

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM)
BUSINESS INFORMATION SOLUTIONS IMPLEMENTATION
IT/IS GOVERNANCE
E-FINANCE AND E-BANKING
MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS)
Courses are conducted as lectures in classrooms and as work in PC labs. Within lectures guests from IT/IS vendors
and guests from companies are presenting case studies. Students learn to work with:

SAP ERP
Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Microsoft Sharepoint

Microsoft Visio
Microsoft Project
Students have to conduct one month traineeship.
They have to prepare written (diploma) thesis about certain area/solution/problem of e-business.

Faculty of Economics and Business is member of:
Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance (DynAA) where it has
Associate level member school status and also status of DynAA
Faculty Mentor.
SAP University Alliance.
Microsoft IT Academy and it is Microsoft certification centre for
Microsoft Office products through Certiport and also for other
Microsoft products through Prometric.
iKnow club which enables cooperation with Apple.

E-business programme is supported by Microsoft Slovenia where Microsoft participates in the events of the
programme, professionals appear as guest lectures and with support on many other areas including technology
transfer. Microsoft published a case about e-Business programme at Faculty of Economics and Business Maribor as
example of excellent and innovative way of cooperation between the programme and a major Microsoft partner in
Slovenia (company Adacta).
E-business programme is supported by SAP Slovenia where SAP participates in the events of the programme and
professionals appear as guest lectures. E-business programme also cooperates with SAP user group in Slovenia
(SUSAP).
In the programme E-business following IT/IS companies participate:
Adacta, Add, Avtenta, Comtron, HP Slovenija, Intera, Kopa, Lancom, LS Retail, Org.Tend, Navigaris, NPS, RCL Group,
Sfera-IT, SRC, S&T, Tušmobil, ZZI ...
Guest lectures come from, beside above mentioned companies, also from:
Cimos, Fragmat, Gorenje, Iskratel, Kovinoplastika Lož, Pošta Slovenije, Probanka, Studio Moderna, Telekom ...

E-business programme participate in social responsibility actions - students of e-business programme were
active in the project Symbiosys in which 14,000 seniors in Slovenia have been educated in the area in computer
literacy.
