The Liebert Cassidy Whitmore Strategy
The Liebert Cassidy Whitmore Strategy
Wrong for the City of San Ramon.
Wrong for the City of Hayward.
WRONG for
SONOMA COUNTY.
Sonoma County's hired guns are up to their
old tricks again. A Public Employee Relations
Board recently handed down a strong ruling
criticizing their illegal and anti-union tactics in
Hayward and San Ramon. Here in Sonoma
County, Liebert Cassidy Whitmore (LCW), are
again pushing the strategy of prematurely
and inaccurately declaring impasse in negotations.
Like Sonoma County, San Ramon and
Hayward made the mistake of hiring LCW to
negotiate contracts with its employees. In
both cities, LCW attorneys claimed contract
talks were at impasse to drive workers into
concessions.
Under the guidance of LCW, San Ramon and
Hayward management committed numerous
unfair labor practices in dealing with its workers and violated the law.
In San Ramon and Hawyard, the cities’ negotiators adopted a take-it-or-leave it approach
to bargaining and declared impasse prematurely. They were intent on forcing additional
concessions from workers rather than reach a
genuine agreement with the union.
In Hayward, managers interrogated workers
for their participation in union activity in
order to intimidate them from speaking out.
Management made repeated appeals to
workers to abandon support of their bargaining position.
Sound familiar? It should, because it’s the
same strategy that LCW is using in Sonoma
County negotiations.
With LCW’s guidance, San Ramon and Hayward management waged a war against
workers and destroyed the relationship with
city workers. LCW has potentially cost
Hayward millions of dollars.
Take action to make sure that Sonoma
County doesn’t allow Liebert Cassidy
Whitmore to lead them down the same path.
It’s not too late for the County’s Board of
Supervisors and CAO to do the right thing
and dump Liebert Cassidy Whitmore. Tell
them to stop wasting tax dollars on
union-busting LCW, and send real decision
makers to the bargaining table! Contact the
