A letter from the Chairman of the Board
Ross Riddle
As 2014 is winding down I keep asking myself, “where did the year go?” Of course,
I’ve been asking myself that for a good many years now, and bet many of you have as
well. The fact of the matter is that often times we find that we’re “racing through
life”, and must remind ourselves to slow down and smell the roses. After all, we have
but one life to lead…this is no dress rehearsal!
Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress,
and working together is success.” That just about sums up the history of our great coop NEMEON. Speaking of which, as we all prepare for business in 2015 with all the
unknown challenges we face, it’s important we remember the many ways that
NEMEON helps each of our businesses day in, day out. Of course we have quarterly
rebates, but of equal or even greater benefit is the information flow that NEMEON
facilitates through our monthly regional calls, the NEXT GEN Program, the feedback
from both Dave and Vic, the assistance from Mary, Andi, Tricia, and Fernando, and
perhaps most important is the relationships with our Preferred Vendors. As those PV
relationships grow, so do our rebates! We never want to forget to spend time
nurturing those vendor relationships. Additionally, the PVs know we speak as a
unified organization, and that gives our voice more credence.

That being said, I can’t think of a better place to work on nurturing said relationships
than at our annual meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico February 4th-6th. I expect
everyone has registered already with Andi, but if not, call her immediately! We want
to show our Preferred Vendors that our co-op works together in unison with one
another, and that is one of the reasons we’re so successful. We expect 100% member
attendance this year, and encourage you all to do your part. This will be our largest
meeting ever, and we expect you will be blown away with what we have in store for
you. I would encourage you all to make you flight reservations now, if you haven’t
already done so, as flights in and out of San Juan book up fast!
I look forward to seeing you all in San Juan. To all of you, and your families, I wish
you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a Prosperous 2015.

With the Thanksgiving holiday behind us and another holiday season fast
approaching I am always frustrated by the marketing behind this special
time of year. I am tired of hearing that I can finish my Thanksgiving meal
and head out to my local store to “reap” the best deals of the season.
Then I wake up to the largest newspaper of the year but lo and behold
there is very little actual news, just advertisements for where I can save
the most money. I have a different view of Black Friday; to me it is a reminder that we have forgotten what this time of year is all about. With all
of our crazy schedules we all need time to sit back and relax with the people that matter the most to us, our family and friends. I am sure that you
will agree with me that “making” family memories is so much better than
“buying” them.
When I talk about family, I realize that it is a very broad ranging term; outside of your immediate family, you have many groups that operate just
like a family. The one that comes to mind in respect to my message today
is your business/work family. You care for and look out for all of your employees just like you would your family members. I look at NEMEON as a
large family, we are all related by what we do and all have very similar trials and tribulations, situations that we deal with day to day. When we get
together we reflect on how we have dealt with business issues and how
we can share our solutions. I see numerous examples every day of members reaching out to members to help each other. Whether it might be
someone looking for some help for a job that is in another member’s area
or someone looking for feedback on a supplier that they are looking at doing some business with, there is always someone willing to help. It is
within this family spirit that NEMEON performs the best; our members,
preferred vendors and the NEMEON team all working together for the
good of all. I encourage everyone to look within themselves to see how
you can do more to enhance your experience in NEMEON because when
you do that, you are also helping each and every other member as well.
I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2015 NEMEON Annual Meeting (family reunion) in Puerto Rico this coming February. I also want to remind everyone that great things can be accomplished when we are working in conjunction with our preferred vendors and always keeping the NEMEON
mantra of “shifting the share” whenever possible.

A Letter from the Vice President
Vic Anthony
WOW…what happened to the last six months?
I want to take a few minutes to reflect on my first six months with NEMEON. Time has
gone by quickly and I’ve been privileged to meet so many amazing people during my
short time with this exciting organization.
First, I am blown away with the show of support from everyone I’ve had the pleasure
to meet and talk with. From our staff in Woodbury to our Board of Directors, to our
members and Preferred Vendors, everyone has been helpful and supportive, as I’ve
sought your thoughts and opinions. You are truly a unique and diverse group that
acutely understands the challenges facing the independent business owner.
My travels have taken me to member locations that are state-of-the-industry showcases. I have visited offices with cutting-edge customer service that is the envy of
competitors. Your focus on customers, solving their problems and helping them grow
their business is evident everywhere I visit.
The support for NEMEON has been a major topic with every member I have talked
with. We’ve had in-depth discussions about programs that are working well, and identified those that can be improved. We’ve even talked about a few programs that should
be discontinued. There’s no doubt that our members are passionate about NEMEON.
How can we make the organization stronger and better positioned for future success?
At the top of my list is LionGUARD University. We currently have a two-part goal — to
improve the quantity and quality of courses, and secondly to grow the usage within the
NEMEON community.
We are well on our way to the first benchmark of 50 courses. With the new courses
added this year, plus courses nearing completion, we’ve seen solid improvement in
quantity of LGU classes. In addition to product training, in 2015 you can look forward
new courses dealing with general business and sales training.
If you are currently a LGU user, you are already receiving regular updates as new
courses are added. If you are not yet signed up, please do so now.
Another important project underway is developing a distinct brand for the NEMEON
name in the contractor, homeowner and builder communities. We have a strong message to tell that centers on the benefits of doing business locally and working directly
with an owner to help grow a contractor’s business.
We also want to market the benefits of a national buying co-op that offers the largest
footprint of locally owned independent roofing and siding distributors across the US
and Canada. We will continue to communicate this message in industry trade publications that feature our members and customers.
Another area of focus has been LionGUARD Products, which have been a successful
addition to our members’ product offerings. We are actively looking for new products
that will strengthen the LionGUARD/NEMEON brand.
And finally, we continue to evaluate current vendors and determine ways to shorten
lead times, reduce minimum quantities and improve margins.
These are just a few of the many things we’ve been working on and will continue to
push 2015. If there is anything else you want us to look into, please give me a call. I
always welcome suggestions and criticisms.

In Memory:
NEMEON sends its
thoughts and prayers
to the families of
Shawn and Richard.
Shawn Richard Saxe, 36, (Arrowhead Building Supply) passed away at his residence in Billings, MO
(formally of Troy, MO) on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
Shawn was born in Towanda, PA on August 13, 1978 to Larry Saxe (Troy, MO) and Kandies Miller (Troy,
MO). He graduated from Buchanan High School, Troy, MO, in 1996. On October 21, 1994, Shawn asked his
wife “out” and their relationship began its journey. Shawn and Krista were united in marriage on July 21,
1996. Shawn and Krista were blessed with five wonderful children: Maci Kimiye (18), Salena Rena (16),
Keegan Lawrence (12), Mya Cheri (5), and Brennan Richard (4).
He grew up in Troy, MO, spending summers and hunting seasons in Pennsylvania with his grandmother,
uncles, aunts, and cousins. He worked for Casey’s and Contractor’s Building Supply, making his career with
Arrowhead Building Supply. Shawn worked his way through the company from washing trucks on the
weekends to being the Southwest MO Regional Manager. He took the lead to expand Arrowhead’s services to southern MO. Shawn and his family moved in 2008, to make the plan a reality. This plan exploded
faster than anyone imagined and he found himself hands-on in designing, building, and logistical planning
for five sites. Shawn dedicated his career to making Arrowhead a leader in the industry.
Shawn will be especially remembered for how he uniquely loved his family, deer hunting, trap shooting,
projects with his dad and brothers, sharing his love of music, fishing, gaming, football, being a super hero,
comic knowledge to spoil the endings to DC/Marvel movies, giving bear hugs way to tight, wet willies,
traveling, weight lifting, and most recently kayaking.
Richard A. Sawilchik, age 72, (Acorn Roofing Supply / Prairie State Exterior Products) beloved and devoted
husband of Beverly (nee Burke); loving father of Susan (Ross) Ridder, Daniel (Amanda), William (Toni) and
Bryan Sawilchik; dearest grandfather of Eben, Quinn, Lucas, Alyssa, Kyle and Tyler; cherished brother of
John (Gerri) Sawilchik and the late Shirley (Richard) Martin; dear brother-in-law of James (Barbara) Burke,
Mary Ellen (Peter) Bieber, Patrick (Sandy) Burke, Robert Burke and the late Therese (the late Robert)
Haugh; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

plans along with their technology and know-how will bring the benefits of insulation and related weatherization products to an even greater audience."
Mr. Kieboom said that corporate values also made the new venture a perfect fit.
"Pactiv has always held strong environmental values, as does Kingspan, and that give me
great confidence that we are heading in the same direction, the right direction for a sustainable future," he said.
His sentiments were echoed by Peter Wilson, Managing Director of Kingspan’s Insulation
Division, who added "We are delighted to be merging these two respected brands together.
We are looking forward to offering the North American market some of the best insulation
products available in the global construction industry, providing cutting edge technology
aimed at reducing our environmental impact."

LionGuard University

NEMEON LionGUARD U was launched in February 2013 as a platform to bring cost
effective Preferred Vendor Training to our Members. Historically, training has been
done by suppliers in a “face to face” environment which means that Suppliers and
Member Distributors have to travel to conduct or attend training. Distributor sales
people travel to a Suppliers location for a 1 or 2 day training session, or Suppliers and
sales reps or regional managers to the Distributors’ location to conduct hands on
training. Although this training is effective, it is expensive and timing can be an issue
with the continual introduction of new products/applications. Ultimately Suppliers
need to get their customers trained and up to date on their offering without “waiting to
train” due to busy calendars. LionGUARD U allows Suppliers to post training modules
(new products, repair training, safety training) allowing Member Distributor Salesperson training online 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Each module includes a quiz to
insure students understand and can apply the training on future sales call.
LionGUARD U has turned out to be a very cost effective training method, with the average cost per student trained at under $10 per student! Typical hands on training
runs $50 to $250 per student.
As of September 1st, LionGUARD University has almost 1,000 distributor member
students taking courses and that number is constantly growing. There are more than
fifteen courses available for students and many suppliers preparing to offer their first
course to the member community.

these flights guests are able to appreciate Mother Nature & wonderful views
not seeing from the ground. In addition, the platform's floors provide an allaround view of the forest. An expert nature/adventure guide will lead guests
through a tree top canopy learning experience excursion while assuring an exhilarating and safe experience.

Three-hour kayaking and snorkeling journey starts from Fajardo’s famous Seven Seas Beach,
known to locals as “Ensenada Yegua” (Mare Cove). In this relaxing adventure, expert guides
will take you alongside the seashore with views of the majestic mountains of “El Yunque”
rainforest, also bypassing the “Las Cabezas de San Juan” Nature Reserve. After submerge
you into an underwater world where you’ll be free to snorkel among spectacular coral reef
formations and swing among schools of tropical fish, will stop at “Playa Escondida” (Hidden Beach), a secluded beach
where will fuel our bodies with snacks and refreshments for the return trip. Don’t worry, you’ll have time to lie on this
beach and work on that tropical suntan of yours!
EL YUNQUE RAIN FOREST
The Caribbean National Rain Forest, known as El Yunque, is the only tropical forest in the
United States National Forest System. Its rugged land climbs from almost sea level to about
3,500 feet above sea level and is doused with up to 200 inches of rain every year. Nowhere in
the world will your eyes observe a greater wealth of beauty than what is waiting for you in
the rain forest. Includes a small trail visit as well as several stops to El Portal del Yunque
Visitor’s Center, La Coca Fall, and a visit to the Yokahu Tower.
