This Agent Plus business at 6029 Marlboro Pike is nestled in an established neighborhood inside the Washington, D.C beltway. The community abounds with retirees looking for fun and a place to congregate. Hahn’s loyal customers love the new setup. Many players followed him to the 2,000-square-foot site, which is just down the road from his former store, Best One Food. In Fiscal Year 2013, the Lottery generated more than $1.7 billion in sales and $545.2 million in revenue to benefit good causes throughout Maryland supported by the state's general fund. Since its creation in 1973, the Lottery has generated more than $13.3 billion in revenue to support public K-12 and higher education; environmental programs; public health and safety. Stephen Martino JOHNSON WINS REP OF THE QUARTER Retailers in Carroll, Frederick and Montgomery counties are singing the praises of District Manager Charles Johnson, whose stellar work in two sales territories led to his selection as Lottery Rep of the Quarter. Johnson received the award at the July sales meeting. A happy Sid Turner said the $1 million ticket was the store’s largest win to date. “We’re locally owned and operated and really appreciate everyone’s business over the last 18 years,” he said. RETAILER ROUNDUP Chestnut Ridge Gas and Liquors High’s #020 A busy High’s store in Westminster sold the $1 million winning Powerball ticket that hit on July 3, making an anonymous mother a millionaire. RETAILER REPORT | SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2013 | PAGE 6 In operation for more than 40 years, Lucky’s Deli and Market at 807 Crain Highway South in Glen Burnie attracts a steady stream of Lottery players hoping the luck in the store’s name will rub off. Store manager Anil Patel said customer traffic increased when he added Keno to his Lottery game lineup and hung promotional banners on the building’s exterior. “The name of the store does help sell tickets,” Patel said, “but since I put the banners up about a year ago, people are coming here a lot more. They didn’t know we sell all of these games.” He also revamped and expanded the Lottery play area inside the store to include overhead displays and a countertop packed with Lottery products. Patel works with Region 4 District Sales Manager Todd Cearfoss, whose territory covers Anne Arundel County retailers.
