What is the biggest
TV channel in Finland
saying about
Testdrive by Mika Salo?
Media Factory Dakar introduces a totally new TV format
at MIPTV on 1–4 April 2012.
This fast and furious format introduces 20 top tuners with their cars.
A Formula 1 driver will put these cars through real tests on racetrack and
checks to see what they are made of! The criticism is brutally honest.
Test Drive by Mika Salo steps into tuners´ home garages. In the end of
the season we will find out who is the Tuner of the Year.
In addition to Mika Salo, we have deals with several other test
drivers. You can choose the best one for your country.

What really took us by surprise, was the
fact that even after airing the 1st season
on our pay tv channel MTV3 MAX at the
beginning of the year, the reruns were doing
fantastically on our free to air channel SUB at
the end of the year. Clearly we had reached
broader audience, as we hoped, for the
show. The decision for commissioning the
2nd season wasn’t that hard.
For the second season we really listen
what the car enthusiasts were saying about
the show. Cars that were picked for the
show were more powerful, more tuned in
every way. Top speed and lap time were
measured, and subtle changes made how
Mika and our host interacted.
Now after four aired episodes we couldn’t
be happier. Press still can’t get enough
about Mika, the forums dedicated for car
enthusiasts are thrilled about the show and
it has been one of the weeks most watched
show on MAX.
3rd season? Hmm, let me say like the guys
in Mythbusters. It’s plausible.
Best regards,
Tomi Suomela
Producer, MTV MEDIA

HANDYMAN
WANTED
HANDYMAN WANTED
Handyman Wanted is a stripped-series format with four episodes
a week offering a unique combination of dating and DIY
(Do It Yourself /Home improvement)
In the Handyman Wanted ten single women, who really have a weak spot for handy men, get
the chance of their lifetime when a group of footloose handymen turn up on their doorsteps,
ready to renovate their homes. The men are all out to win the women’s hearts, but will the
ladies fall for the most practical “jack of all trades” or just the most charming of them?
Every week on Handyman Wanted a single woman will get the chance to find the man of her
dreams when six dexterous bachelors pay her a visit on a mission to renovate her home.
While the men get to grips with the home improvements, the woman will take each of them
on different dates to find out who has the potential to become her boyfriend. At the same
time, she has to ensure that the renovation work is being done to her liking and that the men’s
DIY skills are up to scratch.
There may be frequent clashes between the suitors as they attempt to work together on the
renovation project. The men’s skills levels and working methods vary, and some will impress
by striving to do the best job they can, while others will try to get as much time alone with the
woman as possible in an effort to charm her in other ways.
Every day, the woman will have to send one of the men home and on the last day she will be
left with only two men still competing for her affections. She will make her final choice against
the backdrop of her newly renovated home, and invited one of them on a romantic weekend.
If she is lucky she’ll end up with her dream man and her dream home!
If she unlucky she will just end up with a renovated home…

HOME DREAMS IS A FILM THAT SHOULD
BE SEEN BY EVERYONE PLANNING TO
BUILD A HOUSE.
Home Dreams
The Queue
Duration 70 min
Duration 12 min
Through ages, the Finns have built their own houses. Even today, thousands of families are building a home of their own. Home Dreams is a documentary on the building
of a single-family house in modern Finland. The film witnesses the developments in a
new residential area from the reservation of a plot to the moving day.
The Särkiniemi family are building their house by their own efforts. The family consists of father, mother and two little children. Two years and all free time are devoted
to the dream of a house of their own. How do they cope with the financial, mental
and environmental stress?
Pentti Kyllönen is a business man. He builds homes for other people. His business
goes smoothly until the global recession hits even Finland in the middle of the project.
Home Dreams is a film that should be seen by everyone planning to build a house.
In Vaalimaa, the Finnish-Russian customs and border, hundred of trucks
wait to cross the border in Finland to Russia. The queue can be up to
some twenty or thirty kilometres long. A Russian truck driver, Andrei
Romantchenko waits for his turn in the queue. The queue jolts forward
in it’s own time. He just waits, and waits. Andrei tries to sleep whenever
he can. But if The Queue moves, when he’s asleep, the others will jump
in and take his place. He keeps in contact with his family over his mobile
just to find out that his wife is out partying. Andrei wants to believe that
even if he’s away a lot, he is still there to see everything important like
the birth of the baby and his first steps. How does it feel, when you can
do nothing but wait? Frustrating? Truck drivers are meant to be on the
move. You can sit still in the queues for days, then you move a bit and
then wait again repeatedly.
The Campaign
Breakwater
Duration 49 min
Duration 52 min
A documentary of the campaign of a local election candidate. Eetu Kirppu is a firsttime candidate, campaigning for a seat on the municipal council of Miehikkälä. There
is more than one way to go when Eetu and his nimble-tongued campaign manager
Esko Rikkola set out on a tour of the community to persuade voters. According to
Esko’s calculations, Eetu will need 30 votes to get a seat. The men go from house to
house and discuss with potential voters, organize a rally including a fi re artwork, and
meet the Minister of Regional and Municipal Affairs. The eventful campaign culminates on the election day, as the credibility of the two is to be weighed. For Eetu,
responsibilities are growing at home too - his partner Suvi is expecting their first
child, which is to be born around the election day.
Breakwater is set in Haapasaari, an island about 25 kilometers from
Kotka, near the limit of Finnish territorial waters in the east. The island
itself is a key character in the film; it regulates the lives of its residents.
It is unpredictable by nature, at the mercy of the hour and the seasons.
There are five main characters in the film: four men and a woman who
can fill a man’s boots in many respects. Their common denominator is a
certain need for isolation. The men represent traditional heroic figures;
tough seafarers who have seen the roughest storms and brought back
the treasures no matter what it takes. The only woman in the film is a
native of Haapasaari, who went fishing and hunting seals with her father
from early on. She now spends most of her free time on the island. But
she is also one of them in the sense that she has to survive on her own
devices, come what may.
