She was a shining example of faith, love and unconditional friendship. We will forever miss her bright smile and unbridled enthusiasm. Rest in peace, dear friend and colleague. 17 Catholics In Media Associates Catholics In Media Associates was formed by working professionals in the entertainment industry whose initial purpose was to share personal concerns of faith and spirituality as they are experienced in the workplace. From that early beginning came the CIMA Awards recognizing those projects and people in the entertainment industry who, by their work, have made clearer the Word of God. These awards were created to promote and applaud films, television programs and individuals that uplift the spirit and help us better understand what it is to be part of the human family. The CIMA Sculpture Each CIMA Award is an original, signed abstract expressionist work in laminated acrylic by the Yugoslav born artist, VASA. Naturalized an American citizen in 1967, VASA is a Professor of Art at the University of California at Los Angeles, and is internationally recognized for his work. His artwork “affirmatively confronts the spiritual and physical surroundings from which it arises, and is seeking its place.” This piece was chosen to symbolize the ideals of CIMA because its obliquely ascending, three-sided, luminous prism represents our human and imperfect reach to capture the Light of the Trinity in illuminating our work. In containing the same elements of beauty of the sculptural piece, we honor our colleagues’ works as “vehicles of Light,” and express our gratitude to them for presenting the complex colors of the human condition. 18 Past Award Recipients Lifetime Special Achievement Awards Louis Gossett, Jr. ~ 2009 Dick Van Dyke ~ 2007 7th Heaven, Board of Directors’ Award ~ 2006 Gregory Hines ~ 2005 Gary Sinise, Humanitarian Award ~ 2005 Jane Wyatt Ward ~ 2004 Ricardo Montalban ~ 2003 Patt & Jack Shea ~ 2002 Hallmark Hall of Fame ~ 2001 Shelley Fabares & Mike Farrell ~ 2000 Martin Sheen ~ 1999 Ellwood “Bud” Kieser, CSP, Board of Directors’ Award ~ 1999 Rosemary Clooney ~ 1998 Edie & Lew Wasserman ~ 1997 Carroll O’Connor ~ 1996 Gregory Peck ~ 1995 Loretta Young-Louis ~ 1994 Anthony Scannell, OFM ~ 1993 19 Past Award Recipients Motion Picture Doubt ~ 2009 The Valley of Elah ~ 2007 The Chronicles of Narnia ~ 2006 Hotel Rwanda ~ 2005 The Passion of the Christ ~ 2004 Seabiscuit ~ 2003 Changing Lanes ~ 2002 Hearts in Atlantis ~ 2001 Return to Me ~ 2000 Down in the Delta ~ 1999 Saving Private Ryan ~ 1998 Ulee’s Gold ~ 1997 Dead Man Walking ~ 1996 Fly Away Home ~ 1996 Mi Familia ~ 1995 Schindler’s List ~ 1994 Benny & Joon ~ 1993 20 Past Award Recipients Television Without a Trace ~ 2009 Ugly Betty ~ 2007 Cold Case ~ 2006 Medium ~ 2005 Joan of Arcadia ~ 2004 American Dreams ~ 2003 Door to Door ~ 2002 Judging Amy ~ 2002 That’s Life ~ 2001 The West Wing ~ 2000 Joan of Arc ~ 1999 The Practice ~ 1998 Homicide: Life on the Streets ~ 1997 Touched by an Angel ~ 1996 Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman ~ 1995 Frasier ~ 1994 Mr. Rogers Neighborhood ~ 1994 Picket Fences ~ 1993 21 Honorary Committee ~ 2010 Colleen and Bradley Bell Tony Bennett Pierce Brosnan Rosemary and Peter Casey Mr. & Mrs. Stan Chambers Tony Danza John & Lola Debney Mark Derwin Mr. & Mrs. Placido Domingo Peter & Shera Danese Falk Shelley Fabares & Mike Farrell Tom Fontana Marivi & Andy Garcia Kelsey & Camille Grammer Bob & Carey Gunton Barbara Hall Catherine Hicks Conrad N.
