Dear Sewing Friends,
Fifteen! 15 years! Wow….This September marks the 15th anniversary of Cynthia’s Fine Fabrics. We
have come a long way and have met thousands of wonderful sewing enthusiasts along the way.
What started as a dream sketched out in a journal, became a reality on September 7th, 2001. We
had only been opened 4 days before that fateful day of Nine Eleven. So much has taken place since
then, and sew many good things have happened at Cynthia’s too. Just two years ago, my husband
Stan retired from Broward County Public Schools after 40 years of teaching Middle School Band.
Through the years we have endured Nine Eleven, the death of our parents, two hurricanes, and
economic collapse. But, we made it. We have sponsored “Autumn In New York” twice, a fabric shopping field trip to New York City. We have sponsored PBS’s America Quilts Creatively TV show and
advertised on Martha Stewart and Project Runway TV shows. In 2009, we added the Baby Lock
brand and in 2012 Hank received the Customer Service Award from Baby Lock at the annual dealer
convention in St. Louis. Cynthia’s has earned the Presidents Award from Pfaff Sewing Machines
eight times, including the past 4 years-2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.
We have hosted a variety of Sewing Super Stars including: Louise Cutting, Peggy Sager, Loes Hinse,
Walter Floriani, Laura Hayne, Margaret Moorhead, Karen Good, Sara Moe, Susan Green Baker, plus
a few more, so for our 15th Anniversary we have planned a three day sewing school in January 2017
with Pam Mashi, Evy Hawkins, and Missy Billingsly with Baby Lock machines. Please join us, it will be
our best event ever! All of this was only possible because of our great customers. You! Because of

HoopSisters an
Elegant Journey by Karen
At Cynthia’s, we have been having fun with HoopSisters. HoopSisters
classes are held the first Friday and Saturday of the month following Sew Fine
Club. This class is taught by Karen and is
a multi-format machine embroidery
class. All embroidery enthusiasts are
invited to participate! No matter what
brand you own or where you purchased
it. The front and back of each quilt
square is embroidered at the same time
which makes it quick, easy and reversible. The EmbroidaBlock of the month
designs are exclusive to the dealers for a
period of two years. The students receive an electronic file with designs and
instructions each month to complete
their quilt.
The Jacobean Journey EmbroidaBlock quilt sample from HoopSisters was displayed in the store during
the week of our Annual Open house in
2015. We had many customers accept
the challenge to recreate their version of
the quilt using an aggressive month five
month program! The class was completed this past March and we revealed the
quilts in April. The students learned a lot
about their embroidery machines, needles, threads and each other during the
six months. Some students are entering
their projects in local quilt shows in Florida and in their home states.
This past April, we displayed the

new EmbroidaBlock of the month, Elegant
Elements (pictured left). Elegant Elements
is very versatile, as there are many smaller
quilts and projects that can be made from
this quilt design. The border CD contains
four whole cloth designs in addition to the
border files. There are extra copies of the
border CD available for sale in the store
now. We also had our first HoopSisters’
trunk show with designs and samples
