2BOT ModelMaker: Lithophanes Greetings. I am George Washington the .jpeg image. 1 Lesson 7 Unit 1 side a I am George the Lithophane! In this tutorial, you will learn how to make lithophanes like me! Load Materials You will need two pieces of foam, one 1/4 lithophane foam and one 1 inch foam. Stack the two foams and insert them into the cassette together. 1/4 inch sandfoam 1 inch sandfoam LOAD BOTH PIECES 2 3 Choose Materials From the List Wizard, select “Choose Materials.” Navigate to sand foam and select 1 1/4 lithophane foam. Set Base Pad and Model Quality A base pad will need to be set to the thickness of the 1 inch backing foam, plus an additional .03 inches to ensure that the 1/4 foam does not tear through. Set the basepad thickness to 1.03 inches. Set the Model Quality Slider to anwhere at 0.04 or above. Lesson 7 Unit 1 side b 2BOT Modelmaker: Lithophanes 4 Send Lithophane to ModelMaker From the List Wizard, select “Send Virtual Workpiece to ModelMaker.” The lithophane is now located in the Virtual ModelMaker and is ready to cut List Wizard X 1) Choose Material 2) Load Model 3) Scale/Orient Model SEND TO MODELMAKER 4) Tile/Arrange Model Parts 5) Send Workpiece to ModelMaker 6) Make it! 5 Make it! Click “Make it!” from the List Wizard. Double check your settings in the job summary: 0.04 Stepover Feedrate at 1 Cut Border is checked X Job Summary Model Quality 2-sided Hi Cut Border .04 in. stepover Feedrate 1 Start Job 6 Remove Lithophane from Cassette Cancel The Top 1/4 inch piece of lithophane foam will contain the portrait of George Washington. The backing 1 inch foam is discarded. Remove George REMOVE FOAM Toss 1 inch foam 7 Stepped Shine a Light Light the back of the Lithophane to see the image! Place it in front of a window, or other light source.
