NEW DELHI WORLD BOOK FAIR 2016
The New Delhi World Book Fair is today one of the premier calendar events in the
world of books.
The NDWBF 2016 offers you exciting opportunities to do business with the
book industries of India, Asia and Africa. We offer you one of the most sought after
platforms to promote titles, co-publication arrangements and exchange of Rights. The
Fair holds out a veritable intellectual feast for every visitor choc-a-bloc with literary
and publishing events and programmes.
The Guest of Honour Country is China and they are coming in a big way to
host a series of programmes as a part of their presentation. Over 30 countries are
participating in the Fair. Similarly, the theme presentation ‘Cultural Heritage of India’
will not only display books but will also showcase specially curated panels depicting
the rich and varied heritage of India.
Over 500 literary programmes are being organised with the support of
publishers, government bodies and NGOs. Besides, business sessions, seminars
on publishing and translation, e-publishing, and a number of discussions, cultural
programmes will also be hosted to enliven the nine days of the Fair.
With over 1,000 exhibitors and over one million visitors, the Fair can today
boast of hosting the largest community of booklovers in the world. Be it the trade
visitor, children and youth, the academic or the general reader, there is something to
hold the interest of everyone. Join us again this year and whet your appetite for good
reading!

For entry to the Book Fair, tickets of the denomination
Rs 10/- (for children) and Rs 20/- (for adults) are
available at Pragati Maidan gate nos. 1, 2 and 10.
Tickets are also available at 50 select Metro Stations of
Delhi.

Media Cell
The Media Cell is located in Hall No. 7. It will remain open from 10.30 am to 8.00
pm every day during the Fair.
Literary Programmes
A number of literary programmes are being organised daily by various participants/
institutions. For details please refer to ‘Schedule of Events’ booklet available at
information desks.
• In-Charge: Smt. Neera Jain, Chief Editor & Joint Director
• A series of programmes like panel discussions, meet-the author sessions, etc are
being organised by various publishers at Author’s Corners located in various halls
as detailed in previous pages.
Fair News
A news bulletin Fair Daily (in English) and Mela Varta (in Hindi) on the daily events of
the Book Fair will be brought out during the Fair. Fair Daily and Mela Varta offices are
located in Hall No. 7. Contact officers: Shri Binny Kurian (Fair Daily) and Shri Pankaj
Chaturvedi (Mela Varta).
Other Facilities
• Health Care: An emergency medical care facility by Kailash Health Care Ltd. shall
be available near Hall No. 7.
• Telephone, Posts and Telegraph: Public telephone booths are located at
convenient points throughout the Fair ground. A Post Office located in Hall No.
19 provides STD/ISD phone and fax services in addition to normal postal services.
• Banks & ATM: The State Bank of India, Central Bank of India and Canara Bank
provide complete banking services at their branches in Hall No. 19. These banks
also deal in foreign exchange. In addition, IDBI Bank mobile ATM van shall also be
stationed in Pragati Maidan.
• Restaurant & Cafeteria: There are restaurants, kiosks, snack counters and
cafeteria all over the Fair grounds.
Conditions for Sale
Sale of books, educational aids and other reading materials is permitted on the
following conditions:
• A uniform discount of 10 per cent is allowed on the printed price.
• Hawking and sale of books at specially reduced prices is prohibited.
• No book or materials forbidden by law in India is allowed to be exhibited or sold.
