the largest of AIGA’s regional chapters, AIGA Chicago aims to support and enhance five processes
that are critical to the design profession: information, communication, inspiration, validation and
representation. Through seminars, workshops, portfolio reviews and social functions, AIGA Chicago
brings together design professionals and provides a platform for discourse and networking.

committed to sharing their experience and knowledge throughout the industry. We provide professional
networking and educational opportunities. If you create, edit, research, license, manage or publish
pictures, ASPP is the place for you. Since 1966, ASPP has sought to bring together the different groups
of image professionals through its educational programs, chapter meetings, quarterly magazine The
Picture Professional, and regular emailing of announcements, job postings, etc. At www.aspp.com you
can find a gallery, the current issue of the magazine with certain archived articles about the business
of photography, book reviews, chapter programs, a Find a Pro link to its members, and other helpful

PACA’s Mission Statement is “to foster and protect the interests of the picture archive community
through advocacy, education and communication.” Accordingly, they work to develop useful Industry
standards and promote ethical business practices; actively advocate copyright protection; collect

relationships with organizations from related industries.

23 YPA Established in early 2009, The Young Photographers Alliance (YPA) is a scholarship and
educational foundation focused on bringing underprivileged students opportunities for advancement
in the visual arts. The primary goals of the foundation are to provide financial aid through scholarship
awards, educational seminars and project initiatives, mentoring and internship programs.
Initially, YPA will be sponsoring three scholarship awards. Applicants will submit portfolio and
background packets for consideration. Awards will be assessed based on quality of work, financial need,
academic records, recommendations and the persuasiveness of the applicant’s Statement of Purpose.
Moving forward, YPA will focus on education, mentoring and internship programs for students at the
college level in a variety of communities. These projects will allow for teaching and learning in active
and collaborative methods both in class and outside the classroom. More information about YPA’s
scholarships and programs will be available in the coming months.
