As Ambassador of the United States to the Kingdom of Morocco, I am delighted that
many U.S. companies will participate in the International Marrakech Airshow, April
27-30. The United States enjoys a strong bilateral relationship with Morocco and two
of the key pillars of our relationship are security cooperation and business – and this
airshow combines both of these key elements.
Morocco is a paragon of stability in the region, and one of the Moroccan
Government’s highest priorities is ensuring that its citizens and its strategic
infrastructure such as airports, highways, sea ports, and its tourism industry remain
secure.
The Moroccan aeronautical industry has made significant strides over the past
decade, with its industrial base growing from approximately 10 companies to
over 100 today. U.S. civil and defense aviation firms have had good success in
Morocco, and I am convinced that U.S. technology and solutions will continue to find
ample opportunities in this market. Whether communications, lighting, detection,
surveillance, or other aerospace solutions, U.S. firms possess the solid reputation and
expertise that Morocco needs.
