Vision
Orphan Justice Center exists to be an answer to the cry of millions of orphaned children around the
world. We link arms with people across the globe to see all children safe, healthy and established in
loving homes.
Scripture is clear that it is the responsibility of the Church to care for the widow and the orphan.
We believe that this is a special time in history where God is highlighting His heart as a Father
and is calling the Church, like never before, into the Spirit of Adoption. God is pouring out His
Spirit to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers.
(Malachi 4:6)
As we respond to care for the orphan we will begin to understand the Father’s heart in new and
glorious ways. The truths of the incarnation, redemption and the splendor of the sacrifice of Christ
will have fresh and profound meaning, as we partner in the rescue and restoration of the orphan.
This is not just foster care or adoption, this is salvation, discipleship, and leadership training. We are
stepping into an end-time spirit of adoption, the spirit of Elijah, the first ripples of the great end-time
harvest.

The following is an excerpt from a blog post written by Derek while he and Renee’ were in Ukraine,
adopting Sasha, Ethan and Silas...
adoption is redemption.
How incredibly blessed I am to be the mother of a tribe of thirteen children, nine
adopted, three biological and the guardian of one, each one perfect and unique in his
or her own way. It is an honor to watch them being restored and walking into the destiny that God has created for them.
It’s costly, exhausting,
expensive, and outrageous.
Buying back lives costs so much.
When God set out to redeem us,
I am blown away by God’s love for the orphan and how He will go to any length to cause
us to hear His voice and to act. My children each have their own story of redemption,
how God put specific plans into place so that they would end up in our family.

I’m speechless and humbled that God has entrusted OJC with His heart for the
orphan. Outside of the first commandment, there is no greater calling in my book...
There is much to be done and Jesus continues to strengthen us to persevere. We strive
to carry the torch with wisdom, humility of heart, and a burning love for the orphan.
We will work diligently to bring justice and restoration to as many orphans as we can,
until Jesus comes to rule and to reign with His justice.
We all have a part to play in this justice revolution, seeing children set into families and
restored into their destinies.

My Friends,
When God redeems us, we can’t even really appreciate
or comprehend it, just like Ethan will never comprehend or fully appreciate what is about to happen to
him, but he will live in the fruit of it.
As his Daddy, I will never expect him to understand
all of this or even to thank me. I just want to watch
him live in the benefits of my love and experience
the joys of being an heir in my family. This is how our
heavenly “Papa” feels towards us.

Derek and Renee’ Loux began the Orphan Justice Center in 2007 advocating for
adoption and the restoration of abused, neglected, and unwanted children. In late
2009, Derek was tragically killed in a car accident. Renee’ and the OJC team continue
the vision of rescuing, adopting and restoring orphans.

Orphans are the poorest, most
vulnerable and most oppressed
people group. With no one to protect
them they are at the mercy of profiteers
and traffickers. Often, if a child cannot be
used as a slave or forced to be a prostitute,
they are killed outright or tied to a bed and left to die.
ABC News reported that American soldiers went into an
orphanage where they found multiple bodies laying on the
floor of the facility. The children looked dead and barely
responded when they called out. This was a governmentrun orphanage for special needs children. They
found more emaciated little bodies tied to cribs. The
children were so thin that you could literally see every
bone in their body. They had no energy to move and no
expression on their face. They were naked and covered
in their own feces. There were three people in the
kitchen cooking food for themselves but they were making
nothing for the children. The kitchen shelves were packed
with food and the stockroom held rows of brand-new
clothing.
Unfortunately, this is normal for abandoned children around the world. They are left rejected,
hopeless, in desperate need and without love. Orphan
Justice Center is sounding the trumpet and calling
others to join in to be a voice for the most vulnerable.

Child Sex Trafficking in America
Mary was 12 years old when she first fell in love. It
was his “swagger” that attracted her, she recalled,
laughing. The pre-teen, who lost her mother at a very
young age and only saw her father on holidays, said
she desperately craved a father figure. All she ever
wanted was to be loved, she said, and she thought she
found that in the man who patrolled up and down her
street wooing her.
“I just fell into his arms,” said Mary. One day, the man
invited Mary to go on a drive with him. She did, and she
never returned home.
For four years, Mary was forced into child prostitution
with four different pimps. She was taken from city to
city, forced to have sex with random men against her
will. She was consistently abused mentally and physically by both her pimps and other girls who he housed.

Each year approximately 800,000 children go
in and out of the foster care system.
This year 29,000 teens will age-out of the foster care
system. These teens have long been without their own
family and when they age out of the system, (between
16-21 years old); they will be asked to move out on their
own.

These fatherless children are born into a cycle of
dependence on the welfare system, growing up in an
environment where the future looks bleak and dreams
are unrealized. It is estimated that as high as 80% of
people in prison spent time in the foster care system
while growing up.
WE CAN HELP! OJC builds relationships with local
agencies and is coming along side to help recruit and
train foster care parents and care givers.
A study, published in 2010 by the Universities of
Chicago and Washington, gives us this disturbing insight
into the future of these young people. Those included
in the study were 17/18 when they were first interviewed
and the research continued until they turned 23/24. Of
those studied…
Nearly 40 percent had been homeless since leaving
foster care.
Most expressed a need for training in independent living
skills, especially budgeting and money management.
Less than 50% were employed five years after leaving
foster care.
The median yearly earnings of those who had worked
was $8,000.
More than 75% of the young women had been pregnant,
and two-thirds had been pregnant more than once.
Eighty-five percent of the women were on public assistance by the age of 24 and many were raising their
children alone.

RETURNING THE CHURCH to the FOREFRONT
of CARING FOR AT-RISK CHILDREN
Safe Families for ChildrenTM is a national movement of
compassion that gives hope to families in crisis. Safe, loving
homes are provided where parents may voluntarily have
their children cared for while parents seek to restore stability in their lives. Our dedication to family support, stabilization, and child abuse prevention is driven by responsibility
for the well-being of children in our communities. Founded
in 2002, Safe Families for Children has partnered with
churches, local community agencies, and volunteer families,
as well as government organizations in more than a dozen
states. The Safe Families for Children network has provided
essential extended-family relationships to nearly 1,000 children and families annually.
HOST FAMILIES
Host Families are volunteer families who practice Biblical
hospitality by opening their homes to children while their
parents resolve short-term crises.
FAMILY FRIENDS
Family Friends are volunteer mentors who come alongside
parents to support them in making necessary changes to
their lives. Family Friends help to address the problem of
parental isolation, which is at the root of why most parents
seek out Safe Families. Placement of children is not needed
for parents to be connected to a Family Friend.

SAFE FAMILY CHURCHES
Safe Family Churches adopt Safe Families as a ministry of
their own church. They recruit and support host families
and develop resource networks to support their families as
well as help placing parents.
SAFE FAMILY CENTERS
Safe Family Centers are a network of non-profit agencies
working together to create a volunteer driven safety net for
at-risk children and their families.
SAFE FAMILY SCHOOLS
Safe Family schools are public or private schools who desire

to provide more support to the parents of the children in

volunteers in the Safe Family movement through services their school. A Safe Family school commits to identify at-risk
they can offer such as baby-sitting, transportation and lawn families and refer them to Safe Families prior to the need for
care; professional services they can offer such as physicians, more formal public child welfare involvement.

and physical objects they can donate such as diapers, etc.
Tina came to us a couple of months ago not knowing what
she was going to do. She was struggling, like many of the
single mom’s we meet, and needed to check into the hospital for 2 weeks of inpatient and 2 weeks of outpatient.
She made the difficult decision to place her 5-year old son
Zivan with Safe Families volunteers Wendy Bisset and
Anthony and Tricia Henson. However, she knew it was the
right decision, as she put’s it “I can’t thank you enough for
what you’ve done for me and my son. Because of you and
Safe Families, I was able to get the help I needed and be at
ease knowing that my son was well taken care of. I was so
afraid that my son would be taken from me had someone
found out everything that I was dealing with.”
Zivan stayed with the Henson family for about 30 days.
During that time Tia called many times during each week
to see how Zivan was doing. She was able to complete her
stay at the hospital and was reunited with Zivan in January
of 2012. Since then she has joined a single mom’s group in
the Henson’s community.
She emailed me recently and said “It makes me sad to think
of what would have happened to Zivan had it not been for
you, Dianne, Wendy, The Hensons, and of course Safe Families. I thank God everyday for all of you!! You are all now a
part of our family! What a blessing you and your organization are! I feel very fortunate and honored to know you!! You
exude God’s love. Had it not been for Safe Families, I don’t
know how my son and I would have made it! Thank you,
Adam, so very much for who you are and for all that you do!
I pray that God continue to bless you, your beautiful family,
and Safe Families KC!”
This story is a great example of how Safe Families can turn
lives around. This program is growing in the Kansas City
Metro both in Missouri and Kansas, thanks in large part
to the support of donors like you—and volunteers like the
Hensons, who give so generously of their time and energy.

This is an excerpt from a letter written by Derek Loux to the OJC community. His words sum up our core
motivation for all that we do at Orphan Justice Center...
Right now, as you gather, I am on a
16 hour train ride in Eastern Europe.
In four hours I will arrive in Novograd
Valenski where our precious three boys
are waiting. They don’t even understand
what is about to happen to them.
The infinite grace of God, and our
weak but sincere yes to that grace, is
about to make the difference between
life and death for these boys. They are
about to dramatically transition from
the bleak landscape of mere survival,
into the warmth and light of a Godly
future of hope and joy.
You all are gathering in what I believe
to be a holy moment before the Lord.
You are coming together to commence
a justice movement of adoption that
will transform the lives of thousands.
In this environment of life, prayer, and
the washing of the Word, you will lead
them to Jesus. They will be redeemed
and restored, and they will rise into
their great end-time calling, to prepare
the way for the coming of the Lord.
You too will be changed profoundly.
This is not just foster care
or adoption, this is salvation,
discipleship, and leadership training. What you are stepping into is
the end-time spirit of adoption,
the spirit of Elijah, the first
ripples of the great end-time
harvest. You are forerunners,
you are prophets, you are a
sign and a wonder.
You will face your weakness and
insufficiency in ways you never have
before. Your faith will be stretched
and tested. You will cry and perhaps
scream at times out of frustration,
and as you embrace an ever increasing
awareness of your spiritual poverty, you
will possess more of the Kingdom.

Orphan Justice Center is a global voice in calling people
to the Adoption Revolution. We help connect parents to
children who are longing for a lasting home. We link arms
with organizations and individuals who have led the way
in caring for orphans.

Our goal is to see all children set into families. We train
and give resources to pre-adoptive, adoptive, and foster
care families to strengthen family relationships and to
help children and parents form strong bonds.

We work to build strong relationships with local agencies that help with adoption and foster care certifcation.
My Story ~
There are 16,000 children in the Missouri-Kansas
Foster Care system with thousands waiting to be adopted.
Orphan Justice Center works with social agencies to
help facilitate Foster Care. Families who adopt through
the Foster Care system can do so at minimal cost to the
family. This opens up adoption to many more families who otherwise would have disqualified themselves
because of finances.

OJC FAMILIES
Our OJC Families are the heart of Orphan Justice Center.
They are those who have said yes to the call of the
Lord to be vessels of His mercy and the healing hands
of the Father to orphaned, foster, and at-risk children.
We pray for and encourage adoptive parents across the nations. We work with children in our community that are recently adopted, in foster care or whose family is in crisis to
help them integrate into their family or bring stabilization to
their current family and to re-enforce the values that are being taught by their parents.

My biological father left after getting my mother
pregnant. I was born with severe scoliosis having a
115 degree curvature of my spine. My mother couldn’t
handle the stress of taking care of me. After being
passed around to several different people who provided
shelter but were not able to care for a child, I ended
up doing whatever it took to survive. Alone and
unprotected, I learned how to fight on the streets.
Looking back , it is hard to believe the situations I
was in as I defended myself and searched desperately
for food.
The one room house I lived in was often used as a
place for people to have sex. I would get paid a soda
or a bag of chips to be a lookout while various sex
acts were taking place right in front of me.
One day, I met twin girls that told me about this
missionary guy with cool hair who was leading worship in my own language. I felt compelled to go hear
him. As I sat with his wife, Renee’ and their family
I found out that they were planning on adopting the
twins. To the majority of the Marshallese children all
Americans are rich movie stars and I wanted to be
adopted too. Two days later before the sun came up
I knocked on the door of the apartment they were
staying in and asked if I could play with the twins.
Not only did I get to play, but Renee’ welcomed me
into their apartment the whole week they were
there. When they had to leave I was devastated!
Renee’ held my face and wiped my tears promising me
that she would find me the help I needed. I didn’t
really think it would happen but Renee’ kept her
promise. Six months later I was part of Derek and
Renee’s family. The missionary guy with cool hair and
the beautiful mom were now my very own parents.
It took awhile for me to realize that I did not have
to be in charge of me anymore; there was actually
a family that wanted to take care of me. It took
a little bit before I felt free to be me, free to hope
for my future, free to feel loved, secure, and blessed.
There are so many kids that live on the streets in
the Marshall Islands, but God knew me and rescued
me through two very loving and Christ-like people.
When I was adopted by Derek and Renee’, I began to
experience what it was to be loved, cherished, and
valued. In the past few years God has given me a
greater revelation about who He is, as my Friend and
my Father. God allowed me to experience His amazing
love as a daughter and feel the joy of being loved.

RESTORE CLASSES
To see children healed and walking in God given destinies
After rescue and adopt the work of restoration
begins... OJC educates and equips families,
organizations and communities in establishing
strong, healthy and lasting homes.
We help families with specific needs of their
adopted children. We use a combination of
holistic therapies and support systems that create
an optimal environment for healing.
The Orphan Justice Center provides training to
help parents understand and meet the needs of
their adopted/foster child. We cover topics ranging
from “Understanding Children in Residential
Settings” to “Strategies for Attachment” and “Dealing
with Difficult Behavior.”
YOUTH MENTORING
OJC Volunteer Youth Mentors are connected with at-risk youth to demonstrate the Father’s heart to these children. We do this while
going on a fun adventure! This atmosphere creates a
community that comes around kids and
reinforces the values and love that they are receiving
at home. The kids are loved on, they build awesome
friendships, and we provide a little respite for parents.
PRAYER ROOM RESTORE EVENTS
The prayer room restore event is focused on enabling
children to find healing and deliverance through
prayer and worship. As we lead children to the
Healer and Great Restorer, He will touch the deepest
areas of their hearts, bringing healing and restoration.
JUSTICE ADVOCATES
These volunteers give consistent/regular help
to families and children. Not everyone is called
to adopt or to take in foster care children but
everyone is called to help. A few hours a week can
make a big difference. As one mother said about
our advocates, “They helped us go from striving to
thriving.”

Helping parents/caregivers understand the
roots of is trust, lack of conscience and violence
in many adoptive/foster children.

Guided study into helping to heal the emotional trauma of the adopted child especially those
with more severe attachment related issues.

Bringing clear understanding of what happens
in the womb so that foster/adoptive families
can best help babies coming into their home

Strategies and other research related to the
parenting, care and mentoring of foster/adoptive children
Mobilizing the Whole Community
Sometimes it seems that only those able to take
a child into their home are necessary in adoption and foster care. The truth is that whether
single or married, young and old…we all can
play a key role in living James 1:27. We love to
help church ministries mobilize their entire
church community and will give singles and
young couples practical, hands-on ways to play
a vital role in caring for the orphan.
Trauma in Adopted/Foster Children
Guided study into helping to heal the emotional trauma of the adopted child. We recommend
this class at all stages of the foster/adoption
process, especially before bringing any child
into your home.
While dancing with these children in the prayer
room, I was able to behold a piece of the Father’s
heart I had not yet had the freedom to experience.
I was able to delight in the Father, as he was
delighting in the worship of His children. I was able
to find freedom into the playfulness of His heart
while in the place of worship.
He is inviting each and every one of us (all His
children) to behold every facet of His heart, even
His playfulness. This releases us to dance before
Him when no one is looking, and when everyone is
looking.
Let’s behold Jesus together, as we bring in these
who have no voice and help them to behold their
Maker!

class I attended on how to heal the heart of highrisk children.
God give me grace to see people as you see them.
Teach me to hug that kid covered in urine, to look
into their eyes with love and to tell them how precious they are.
All it takes is the love of Jesus and one person to
gain the trust of a child, propelling them into a
healthy view of who they are, what beauty they
were made for, and how they were made to live.

The Justice Fellowship is a 3-month training to prepare
and release justice messengers. The Fellowship will
study the orphan crisis of the nations and strategies to
reach the orphan heart and to bring restoration to the
most resistant.
After completing the Fellowship students will be prepared to begin a justice revolution in their local city,
being trained in:

Ezekiel Rain is honored to partner with OJC believing
together that restoration takes place through night
and day intercession and that God desires the family
to serve as the vehicle through which the broken and
exploited experience redemption.
The statistics are appalling and the reality is shocking
but by faith, we see a generation of children, living
safe and sound, fearless and free. We see ones who
have encountered the love and hope of their Savior,
redeemed and re-integrated into society to fulfill their
God-given destiny. It is this picture that compelled us
to establish Ezekiel Rain in Thailand.
Founded in 2009, Ezekiel Rain exists to rescue, restore
and release formerly enslaved children into transformed families and communities fueled by prayer.

Like so many others impacted by the Lord’s heart for orphans,
we adopted Samuel after having seven biological kids. It was

The message of the Orphan Justice Center shed light on what
is now so obvious to us in the scriptures. God esteems these
priceless ones and holds them in such high regard! As we
draw near to God, he draws near to us and continues to share
his heart for the little ones.
Capital Campaign
The heart of OJC is to train and equip families, caregivers, leaders and volunteers to establish communities of hope,
centered in prayer. Through these communities, families are supported to be able to adopt and foster children, helping to see restoration take place in their spirit, mind and body and leading them into their God given destinies.
God has already abundantly provided 45 acres of land to build the Orphan Justice Center for training and restoration
of children in desperate need.

Prayer Room/Community Training Center: Prayer is central to all we do at OJC. The training center would provide
the needed space for classes for both interns and the community.
Equestrian Therapy/Farm Buildings: Equestrian/pet
therapy has long been known to help sick and handicapped
children who have physical or learning disabilities. Severely
abused, traumatized and at risk children also benefit greatly
from this form of therapy.
