FREE RAD CLASSES TO BE
OFFERED AGAIN
Mark you calendars for the upcoming Rape Aggression Defense
training In February. In the past these classes filled quickly. The
classes are offered free of charge, courtesy of the Harris County
Sheriffs Department. The possible release of Corol Eugene Watts
should be plenty of motivation to learn these LIFESAVING skills.
Corol Watts is one of the worst serial killers every captured here
in Texas, and could be released in just 18 months.
This class is offered to women only, consists of physical hands
on training, in five-three hour classes. Your teachers are specially
trained, actual sheriffs, with lots of experiance. They will be held
from 6-9 PM & the Lakeside Trails Clubhouse on Tuesday,
Wednesday & Thursday, February 8, 9 & 10. To finish up the
following Tuesday & Wednesday, February 15 & 16. If you have
questions, or to register by phone, contact Officer Jan Brown @
281-647-9371 during business hours of 9-5. There is not an answering service at her desk, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t
get an immediate answer, she’s just out fighting crime.

THANK YOU
In recognition of Association Management’s 25th Anniversary, AMI donated a tree to each neighborhood in
Fairfield Village, including the Master Association. The
trees were planted at locations designated by the Board
of Directors for each Village. However, this would not
have been possible without the help of your community’s
landscaper, The Spencer Company, and their dedicated
employees including but certainly not limited to Brad
Wander/President, Michael Lasseter/Area Manager, Renè
Reyes/Crew Superintendent and all the other men who
work with them, who donated their time and effort to plant
these trees at no cost.
We wish to express our thanks to all those from The Spencer Company for all their effort in accomplishing this
task.
Association Management Inc.
Message from AMI:
‘TIS THE SEASON FOR
ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATIONS
When Santa visits your house he’ll probably leave lots of presents, perhaps a basketball goal, play equipment, patio cover, storage building, satellite dish, maybe even plans for a new pool or a sprinkler system. Please
remember that prior written approval of your Association is necessary before the installation of anything or anything that changes the aesthetic appearance of your home.
If you’re building something that has a roof and/or sides, i.e., patio cover,
storage building, you will need to include the following along with your
application: materials including roofing, dimensions, height (measured from
ground to peak), width and length, and a copy of your lot survey indicating
the proposed location and a side view elevation drawing.
If you plan to install play equipment, please include a copy of your lot
survey showing the proposed location and the dimensions of the equipment
(height, width and length) as well as the type of cover for the “A” frame.
If you’re painting your home, please include a sample of the color(s) you
wish to use.
Basketball goals….include a copy of your recorded lot survey indicating
the proposed location where you wish to install the goal.
It’s a real easy process and takes no time at all to adhere to your governing
documents. You can apply by mail, fax or email – whichever is easiest for
you.
To obtain an application or if you have any questions regarding the process or what items to include with your application, please contact AMI at
713-932-1122.

The Houston Food Bank
needs all our help…
Our community is to be congratulated for
their outstanding patriotism...
And it’s so easy!
In the latest Presidential Election, we cast 4261 votes for the
candidate of our choice. This represents approximately 87%
of the registered voters in Precinct 124. Working in the Poll
were the following: Jim Hearst, Leland Seidl, Robert Presnell,
Olive Mitchell, Ann Candela, Norita Seidl, Justina Kern, Daryn
Seidl, Jo Denise Callegari, Dorthy Foushee, Shirley Hearst, and
Charles Wolcott. The Church of Christ congregation expressed
it’s appreciation of these poll workers by preparing dinner for
them. Those who prepared the meal include Reverend Michael
and Jimmie Lehew, Christi Clark, and Laurie Newton. We thank
these people for their thoughtfulness in this magnanimous gesture.
All we have to do is go to www.chunky.com and
vote for the Houston Texan Football team. And the
team with the most points will get the weight of the
total team in food donated by Campbell Soup to the
Food Bank. Greenbay has been winning in the past,
so let’s get the word out and get everybody to vote so
the Houston Food Bank will get the donation.

The Pet Corner:
A HUGE THANK YOU TO GERI BISHOP!
The Fairfield Gazette would like to take this opportunity to THANK
Geri Bishop for all her kind and loving work she has put in to helping
our lost and found pets in and around Fairfield…not to forget how many
happy smiles she has put on many resident’s faces by rescuing and literally taking care of their pets until they were returned home. Geri established and maintained the website for Fairfield residents to go to when
they either lost or found pets. With Geri’s constant watch and support
for our pets, many residents and pets were reunited. Thank you Geri!
Thank you Geri,
From All the Residents and Pets in
Fairfield!
Geri also sends her “thank you” to all who have been so kind!
Geri is stepping down as our “Pet Guardian” and is turning her watch
over to Susan Locke who has so graciously agreed to take over. Welcome Susan!

Your kind help is still needed for
FOSTERING THOSE LOST PETS!
For all you animal lovers: There are many times, in our community,
when people find a lost animal/pet and can’t pick it up because they
have no place to shelter the animal until the owner is either found or
notified and comes to claims it.
This is where your kind help is needed. We are asking for residents in
the Fairfield community to volunteer their homes and backyards to foster a lost animal for 1 to 2 days – until the owner is located and the
animal is returned to that owner.
Not only will this keep the animal from being injured, killed, impregnating another stray, or being picked up by Animal Control, it will insure the children and families of the community are kept sale also.
If you are interested in being a foster home for someone’s lost animal/
pet, please call me, Susan Locke at 281-304-7231.
Thanks so much!
10-Acre Park Legend Moves On
On September 29, 2004, Phred, the yellow Labrador Retriever
known by many and loved by all, was unfortunately put to sleep.
Phred was born a Yankee on August 3, 1991, but only stayed
there until she was about 10 weeks old. And Yes, Phred was a
female! She lived in Virginia for the first 4 years of her life,
achieving the same status that she gained in Fairfield. Phred
arrived in Houston during the lovely month of August in1995.
During the trip to Houston, she partied on Bourbon Street and
traveled in taxis, stayed in hotels, swam in hotel swimming pools,
and even took on the mighty Mississippi River. In her lifetime,
Phred traveled on airplanes, boats and in cars, and experienced
things many people never do. She was like most people. She
lived indoors, loved to be outside, but hated the Houston heat.
For those who are wondering what was so special about Phred, it
can be summed up in one word – COOL. When she was young
and active, she was a great soccer and street hockey player. She
would also catch Frisbees. She would retrieve until she dropped
and any water was fair game. She was trained without a leash
and did not like it when she had to wear one. Phred stayed in her
yard and watched the world go by without ever being tied up.
People, dogs, cats, whatever, it did not matter, Phred just stayed.
People knew her for that reason. People would walk by the house
and call out “Hi Phred”, and we would hav! e no idea who these
people were, but they all knew Phred.
As difficult as it was to say goodbye, it was made easier with the
compassion and professionalism offered by Dr. Hicks and his
staff. Their understanding of the pain and sorrow that goes with
such a task goes beyond words.
As for Phred, she now rests peacefully, having said farewell to
the 10-Acre Park she kept watch over for 9 years.

FAIRFIELD COMMUNITY GAZETTE
Dear Fairfield Residents,
Let’s Show Our SUPPORT!
Have you noticed the yellow ribbons around our neighborhood?
These pretty ribbons show support for our military men and women
serving our nation. I enjoy and appreciate seeing these ribbons on a
daily basis. You see, our son is a medic in the U.S. Army stationed in Iraq
and these yellow ribbons speak to me. Each ribbon represents a heart. Thus, I’m asking
you to display yellow ribbons in your yard to remind us all of the efforts these people do
to provide us the freedoms we enjoy daily.
With the recent deaths of several area service men, these ribbons take on a very personal meaning. This letter is not intended to state whether or not our troops should be in
Iraq; it is much more personal than that. It is intended to persuade you to join together to
make Fairfield a premier neighborhood whose voices reach personally to individual service personnel showing words of acknowledgement, appreciation, and encouragement.
Therefore, I am also asking individuals, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Women’s clubs, sports
teams, senior clubs, and churches to take time to send cards or letters to a specific service
person until they come home. If you would like an individual name and address to send
your words to, just call me (281-373-0142) and I’ll gladly provide you with one. I’m sure
there are other families in Fairfield who have loved ones and friends serving in the military. If you would like to submit a person’s name and address as a recipient, drop their
information into the decorated box at the Fairfield Athletic Center.
Together we can reach around the world and bring Texas to those protecting us all!
Here’s one of our brave countryman over
in Iraq; please show your love and support by sending Kevin cards, letters, care
boxes, whatever you can to show him
he’s in our hearts, thoughts and prayers:

Moms In Touch
International
Every week, in every state of the U.S. and in 85 countries around the
world, thousands of mothers meet to pray for their children and their
schools. They gather in Mexico, New Zealand, China, Germany, India,
Uganda, Egypt, Romania, Russia and many other countries. They are
all part of Moms In Touch International, an interdenominational, nonprofit ministry of women who believe prayer makes a difference.
The group was founded in 1984 by Fern Nichols while she was stationed in Abbotsford, British Colombia with a Christian ministry. She
had two sons entering junior high school. Nichols knew her boys were
going to face their greatest test yet in resisting immoral values, vulgar
language, and peer pressure. She found other concerned mothers, and
they began meeting for prayer.
The following summer Nichols and her family moved to Poway, California, where by the fall of 1985, a group was established at Poway
High School. The women met once a week and prayed for a full hour
for their children and the school. They prayed for a Moms In Touch
group for every school in their district, and they shared the concept with
their friends and other moms they met. Two years later, Nichols published a Moms In Touch booklet, and the following January the first
Moms In Touch retreat was held. Today there are thousands of Moms In
Touch groups meeting worldwide.

The MOMS Club has numerous activities including playgroups,
babysitting co-op, Moms Night Out, coupon swap, cooking and

Our next monthly all-member meeting will be held at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church located on Cypresswood Drive in
Fairfield on the second Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM.

We are happily welcoming new moms at each meeting,
hope to see you there!
The organization’s goal is to have a group of two or more moms praying
for every school in this country and throughout the world. We know our
children face many challenges at school (academics, drugs, peer pressure and violence), and to stand in the gap for them through prayer is
our highest calling.
The mothers meet once a week to pray for teachers, principals and administrators, conferences, respect for authority, curriculum choices, holiday situations, coaches and athletic programs, high standards, family
values, after school programs, problems faced by the students and for
the specific needs of the children of the mothers in the group.

We Need Volunteers and Families!
December 14, 2004 – Second Tuesday of the month
With Christmas right around the corner, you will definitely
need an evening of fun, laughter, and relaxation. Please join
the Northwest Harris County Aggie Mothers’ Club for their
annual ‘Ornament Exchange’ party. Please bring an “Aggieized” ornament (if you can write anything ‘Aggie’ on it or if
it’s Maroon then it’s “aggie-ized”!)
Our meetings begin with a brief social at 7:00p.m. at the
Foundry Methodist Church, in the Fellowship Hall, 8350 Jones
Road, Jersey Village (one block North of Hwy 290).
Family to Family Network is an organization that empowers families of children with disabilities by providing information, training,
referral and support. We are initiating a new project in the Houston area called Family Friends. It is an intergenerational program
that matches volunteers (age 55+) with children with special needs
and their families. The Family Friend (volunteer) will visit the home
once a week for a couple of hours to offer support and encouragement by reading a book, playing, and become a friend!
The family gains from the emotional support provided by the volunteer. Their visits often give family members a break from caring
for their child with disabilities, all the while knowing the child is in
good hands.
The Volunteers offer their special skills, wisdom, support and life
experiences. They gain a sense of pride knowing that they are making a difference in the family’s life.
The Community is strengthened by volunteers providing supportive
services that would otherwise prove too costly for the families.

Ways to Keep Your Children Safe…
As the holiday season approaches, the kids are excited about vacations,
gifts, and playing with friends- things children should concern themselves about. As parents, grandparents, guardians, and caring friends,
we should know there are other things to prepare for. We make sure that
are children are dressed for the weather, wear their helmets and knee
pads, and eat a healthy diet- but we also have to prepare our children for
other realities.
Does your child know what to do if a stranger asks them for help? Does
your child know how to reach you in the event of an emergency? Does
your child know your full name? Do you have a recent color photo of
your child? Do you know all the medications they may be taking? Do
you know your child’s friends?
We live in a time where these are just the basics. We can prepare ourselves and our children for the dangers that can be just outside our doors.
With just a few basic rules, for both you and your children can better
prepare you for an emergency situation.
1. Teach your children that the police are their friends and that they can
rely on them if they are in trouble.
2. Set-up a password. A secret word only between you and your child.
In the event someone else has to pick them up- your child knows only
to go with them if they have the password.
3. Teach your children that strangers should not ask a child for assistance. Adults should ask adults for help.
4. Always accompany your child on door-to-door activities.

5. Know you neighbors and neighborhood. Regularly check for registered offenders in your area.
6. Rethink the signs on your lawns and vehicles that give strangers too
much information. (Their name, team name, team number, sport,
school, address, and vehicle information all in a glance.)
7. You should not put your child’s name on their clothes where it is visible. Children feel more comfortable around others that already know
their name.
8. Teach your children that no one should ever touch any part of their
body that a bathing suit would cover.
9. Never leave your child alone in a public place, stroller, or car for even
a minute.
10. Always accompany your child to the restroom in public places.
These are just a few of the basics. Too often we hear terrible stories that
break our hearts. We need to start preparing our children for some of the
realities that are just outside our doors. We also need to prepare them
from some invaders in our homes, namely the Internet. Know where your
children are going. Put a computer in a place that you as an adult can
easily see where they are and what information they are giving out. Use
the tools that are out there that filter out the garbage you don’t want your
children to see.

Some of the Benefits of Year Round Swimming
By Barbara Harold, Head Coach, Texas Terrapins Swim Team
Many people have wondered: Do they really
swim in the cold??! Yes, we do. Here
are some of the reasons why...
Swimming is a total mind and
body sport. You use muscles for
swimming that you don’t use for other
sports or daily activities. If you’re trying to
get better
at it, you will also be using your mind more
than with other sports and in a different way. Swimming is a
multi-plane activity.
You go as fast as you can, horizontally, head first, to a
concrete wall. Therefore, you need to build up these different muscles, know where the wall is without looking
up, and have a different kind of balance. All of this is
stimulating your mind to think in different ways. Studies
have proven that swimmers make the best grades amongst
athletes. Part of that is that swimmers can spend more
time in the water without risking injury, therefore they need
to do a better job of getting things done (like homework)
to fit it into their lives. Swimming well means swimming
with a rhythm. That steady beat in your head makes it
easier to think logically, mathematically, and of course,
rhythmically.
Swimming builds up your immune system. Because
you are using more muscles and more lung power you are
helping your body to defend itself. Studies with very young
children (under age 4) have shown that swimming regularly can help children remain well and heal faster when
they do get sick. Children that swim with a cold do tend to
get better faster (do not allow your child to swim if they
have a fever, or if they are taking cold medicine). Swimmers blow out their air through their nose and while that’s
not very pretty, it is very effective!
Coaches of other sports love swimming. It’s the best
cross-trainer out there. Swimmers have more coordination, stamina and lung power - all very important in other
sports. Our swimmers are continually learning more about
swimming, safety and other life skills. The Terrapins are
dedicated to their sport and their teammates. We also like
to have a lot of fun (Wacky Wednesday and Fun Friday is
common).
The Terrapins swim at the beautiful Fairfield Athletic
Center with an outdoor, heated (85 - 86 degrees) 25 meter
pool with a heated tent poolside for drying off and bundling up. So, we’re not that crazy! We offer a two-week
trial period to anyone that’s not sure they want to take the
plunge. Visit our website at www.texasterrapins.com. We
offer year round swim lessons as well.
The Texas Terrapins Swim Team (TTST) of Cypress,
Texas is a year-round competitive swim team offering instruction and competition to swimmers of all ages and
abilities. The Texas Terrapins Swim Team provides a
positive, supportive and fun-filled environment where
swimmers can improve their skills and meet their individual goals. Through the guidance of trained, experienced coaches, coupled with the support of the families,
we encourage team spirit, sportsmanship and a lifelong
love of the sport of swimming. Also, please visit our team
website at: www.TexasTerrapins.com or contact our Head
Coach, Barbara Harold, at [email protected].

Little Lamb News
All the Little Lambs students and teachers had a great
time celebrating the wonderful season of fall. Our
annual fall festival and pumpkin patch story time was
a success. The children enjoyed playing on the inflatable slides, painting pumpkins, decorating cookies, dressing up like a mummy, and getting messy with
orange “gloop.” The children loved picking out pumpkins and hearing special pumpkin stories in Good
Shepherd’s pumpkin patch. All our little “pilgrims and Indians” celebrated Thanksgiving with a yummy feast.
Now all the pumpkins and turkeys are gone and we are seeing signs of
Christmas everywhere around our school. The children are busy making all those cute Christmas crafts to share with their families. Our
children are also preparing for their Christmas program. They will be
singing some of their favorite Christmas songs.
Registration for the 2005-2006 school year will be held at the end of
January and beginning of February. Watch for upcoming registration
dates in the January Gazette or go to our website littlelambsmdo.org for
more information on our program and registration dates. Little Lambs
Mother’s Day Out and Preschool is a weekday ministry of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church serving children 18 months of age to 5
years. We have a four day Bridge program for 5 year-old children not
going to kindergarten in the fall. If you need more information, please
see our website or call us at 281-373-0052.

CY-FAIR PROJECT PROM 2005 NEWS
The Project Prom Committee for 2005 has great news to report!
We are half way through the year and we are right on track. This
accomplishment has been possible because of the many parents that
have volunteered to undertake the enormous task that makes Project
Prom a reality for our children and because of the senior parents, friends
and families that have participated in our fundraisers. We cannot thank
you all enough!!!!!
The next big fundraiser we are all looking forward to, Tin Hall
Dinner, Dancing and Auction night, is to be held on January 22,
2005. The theme this year is Mardi Gras and will be catered by
Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen. A one-week stay in a house on Kailua
Beach has been donated for one of our live auction items. The silent
auction committee has been collecting some wonderful items for everyone to bid on. Tickets are $25.00 per person and can be purchased
at the parent meetings or you can visit our website,
www.cyfairprojectprom.com for further instructions. Get them while
you can because they will go fast.
We have an ongoing need for water and soda donations. The drink
donations are for the actual Project Prom event at the Sam Houston
Racetrack in May. We are only allowed to donate coke products such
as Coca Cola, Sprite, Minute Maid Products, Diet Coke, Dasani Water, etc. Twelve packs are preferred and can be brought to the monthly
parent meetings. Labels will be available at the meetings to write
your students name and phone number on so that they receive the
Project Prom Bucks credit. Please wait until after Christmas to donate diet drinks due to their shelf life. If you cannot make the meetings but would like to donate please call Kathy Darner at 281-3735378 or Janice Post at 281-373-4832.
Future fundraisers to look forward to are the Prom Dress Boutique
and Tea on January 15th. This committee is currently taking donations of not only formal dresses, but shoes & accessories also. To
make a tax-deductible donation, please call Susan Kubacak at 281373-3312. The Cookie Dough Fundraiser will be kicking off at the
January 10th Parent Meeting. Ordering information can be found on
the Project Prom website or by calling Alisa Crosby at 281-684-7770
or Myrna Hartwig at 281-370-7449.
During the month of February, Willowbrook Mall will donate a portion of your purchases made at any of their stores. All you have to do
is take your sales receipts to the information booth for them to record.
Please don’t forget our ongoing fundraisers, Bedding Plant Flat sales,
La Maria Cantina, Market Day, ink cartridge and cell phone recycling
and Casseroles To Go. The December Parent Meeting is December
13th at 7PM in the Cy-Fair High School cafeteria. Please visit our
website www.cyfairprojectprom.com for more information on these
fundraisers.
Cy Fair Marching Band
Advances to State Competition
After 61 years, the Cy Fair High School Marching Band earned
a prestigious spot in the 2004 State UIL (University Interscholastic League) Marching Competition in San Antonio. To qualify,
the band performed at the Region 23 Competition at Pridgeon
Stadium on October 19th and earned “Sweepstakes” by receiving
a superior rating from all of the judges.
Cy Fair then advanced to the Area E UIL Competition in San
Antonio on October 25th where they placed in the top 6 against
30 other area bands. They then became eligible to compete at the
State UIL competition on November 2 in the San Antonio
Alamodome which had the top 31 marching bands in the state of
Texas.
It was a thrill for the students to perform in a venue like the
Alamodome and participate with the State’s other top bands. The
state marching competition is held every other year. The hard
work and diligence of the Cy Fair Marching Band this season
has truly paid off and they look forward to excelling at this level
again in 2006.

Cypress Assistance Ministries
Camp 4 ChrisT
December 4-5
Camp4Christ is a student mission to collect bedding, coats, clothes,
shoes and toiletries for the area homeless and exposes the students to a
taste of the difficulties that the homeless endure.
ALL AREA STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO JOIN US
Camp4Christ takes place over 4 consecutive weekends. The help dates
are Sun. 11/14 1:30-3:30, Sat. 11/20 from 11:00-1:00, and Sun 11/28
from 1:30-3:30. You must be present at least one work day to attend the
Camp4Christ weekend. On the help dates, students deliver flyers and
trash bags to neighborhood houses asking that donations be placed in
the trash bag for pickup on the 4th weekend. A medical release form
must be on file at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. They are
available on the website (www.cypressg.net) and at the office.
The actual Camp4Christ will be held on Saturday 12/4. We arrive at the
church with nothing but the clothes on our backs. Students pick up the
donated items. Then they spend the night “as a homeless person”, sleeping in a cardboard box with their Camp4Christ family. That night is
filled with worship, music, speakers and fun.
Community Buck(s) Donations
Holidays, Special Days and Everyday, we need your support. The following is a brief outline of how you may contribute to Cypress Assistance
Ministries. We look forward to your visiting our facilities and hope that we
will continue to do God’s work together.
Angel’s Attic Christmas Room Opening
A Holiday Tradition at Cypress Assistance Ministries is the opening of
Angel’s Attic, “Christmas Room”. Shoppers eagerly look forward to the
vast accumulation of donated Christmas decorations, clothing and super
gift items. Mark your calendar for November 1st at 10:00 a.m. Funds received through the resale shop are utilized through out the ministry to give
assistance to those in need in the Cypress-West Houston area.
Food Pantry Needs
It is official; we are planning Thanksgiving and Christmas at the ministry. Due to the increased number of families in 2004, our demands will be
strained like never before. Turkeys and hams are especially needed, as well
as other meat products. Your monitory donations are always welcomed too.
Money spent at the Food Bank allows us to buy $20 for every $1 spent. If
your church, company or special group is looking for a way to celebrate this
holiday season, or you need information about our programs, now is the
time to start planning. Please give us a call at 281-955-7684.
Angel Tree
Each year we invite the people of Cypress-West Houston to participate in
our Angel Christmas Tree. Families with special needs and their children
are depending on this ministry. We offer a selection of needs (Angels) so
that you may chose how you wish to help. We hope you will come in and
visit our Angel Tree, adopt an Angel(s) and start your Christmas spirit early.

Harvest Bible Church
Don’t miss the true meaning of Christmas this year. In a sentence,
Christmas is the annual time of year where Jesus Christ’s birth is
remembered and celebrated. Consider a few things about Christ this
year. First, the Bible teaches the family line of the Jesus Christ. Genesis 49:8-12 (circa 1800 BC) prophesies that a ruler will come forth
from Jacob’s fourth son Judah: “The scepter will not depart from
Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until He comes to
whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his.” In other
words, the line of the Messiah was to come through lineage of Judah
(the “Jews”). It is a fact that Jesus did descend from the Jews.
Second, the Bible teaches that Jesus would be born of a virgin.
Isaiah 7:14 (circa 700 BC) says, “Behold, a virgin will be with child
and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” The name
“Immanuel” is a Hebrew word that means “God with us.” That’s who
Jesus was and is, he is “God with us.” And the Gospel writer Matthew records that Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, kept Mary as a virgin
until she gave birth to Jesus.
Third, the very location of Christ’s birth was prophesied in the
Bible. Micah 5:2 (circa 750 BC), says that a ruler from the tribe of
Judah will be born in the city of Bethlehem in Judea. The exact prophecy was quoted by the Gospel writer Matthew following Jesus’ birth:
“And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among
the leaders of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler, who will
shepherd my people Israel” (Matt. 2:6). Of course Bethlehem is exactly where Jesus was born.
Fourth, the Bible prophesies the evil activity that would immediately follow the birth of the Messiah. The prophet Jeremiah wrote in
625 BC the following: “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and
great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; and she refused to
be comforted, because they were no more.” What’s of interest here is
the fact that King Herod the Great, the king in Judea during the days
of Christ’s birth, had all the little boys two years and younger slaughtered because he felt his authority was in danger by the birth of Jesus.
It scared him so badly that he killed all the little boys in that land.
Jeremiah saw the mourning in that region over 600 years prior to that
fateful and terrible event, and he recorded those words of lament in
Jeremiah 31:15. Matthew reflected back noted Jeremiah’s prophecy,
so he recorded that the it had been fulfilled after all those little boys
died (Matt. 2:18).
Fifth, the Bible prophesied of the early activity of the Messiah.
Immediately after Herod’s decree of death, Joseph took Mary and
Jesus out of Judea and into Egypt to flee from the danger. Once Herod
was dead they came out of Egypt, and Matthew 2:15 records the fulfillment of the prophet Hosea in 11:1 (750 BC) when he says, “Out of
Egypt I called my Son.”
In sum, Jesus Christ can only be the Messiah predicted in the Holy
Scriptures. Those who reject this must also reject Christmas because
Christmas is a celebration of the fact that Jesus is God. We worship
this God at Harvest Bible Church each Sunday at Ault Elementary in
Fairfield. Our worship times are from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Contact us at

“Discovering the Heart of Christ, in the Heart of Fairfield.”
Maybe it’s our thoughts that need a diet! To change your life, you
must get rid of old thoughts and be able to accept some new ones. One
of the greatest truths is that you create your life with your thoughts. Your
thoughts are what make things happen. Thoughts and words have power.
Each thought in your mind is the seed for everything you do, feel, or say.
Thoughts are what create our feelings. If you want to feel happy you
need to change your thoughts. If you are feeling depressed, angry, jealous or sad you are the one that is causing you to feel that way with your
negative thoughts. You have more control over your thoughts than over
anything else in your life. When you are able to control your thoughts
you will be able to control your world. Thoughts create everything that
happens to you. Thoughts are what produce results in your life. You will
get more of whatever you focus your thoughts on. Whatever you think
about frequently will happen in your life. If you focus your thoughts on
lack of money, worrying about a certain event or about becoming sick,
that is exactly what is going to happen. You have a great power that
needs to be used in the right way. Drop your negative thoughts today. –
written by Barb Garza

Fruitful Word Ministries
Have you ever experienced a valley season in your life? In early
2000 I was faced with a health situation that came on suddenly and
unexpectedly. Having never experienced any real health problems, I
was stunned. I not only had to deal with the physical struggles, but I
felt as though I had been spiritually knocked off my feet. I was deeply
hurt that the Lord had allowed it to happen. Still, I knew He loved me
and that He was with me.
I quoted Psalm 23 over and over, trying desperately to overcome
the crippling fear that surrounded me like a dark tunnel. I spent hours
in prayer on my knees before Him. The Lord spoke clearly to me
through notes from friends, comments on the radio, and music. It
seemed everywhere I went, I heard references to Psalm 23. God kept
letting me know that He is my Lord and my Shepherd, and that He
was guiding me through the darkness.
It was during this time that a song by Ginny Owens came out entitled “If You Want Me To.”
In the song, Ginny sang of being in a situation she wouldn’t have
chosen, yet walking forward through the valley, trusting those trials
would bring her closer to her Lord. Her words ministered to me and
helped me put my situation into perspective. I felt like the Lord had
her sing it just for me!
During the darkest periods of my valley, it was music that the Lord
used to restore my soul. We have a Shepherd who loves us more than
we can imagine. He desires to comfort us with His faithful guidance
and lead us in paths of righteousness.
Read Psalm 23 below:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie
down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores
my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord forever. (NIV)
When you are broken and your dreams are shattered, He will restore your soul. When life seems out of control, He will lead you
beside quiet waters. The Lord is your Shepherd, and if you follow
Him, you will make it through even the darkest valleys of your life.

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church
God has come to earth to dwell among His people…
We celebrate the Advent Season at Good Shepherd
On Friday Dec. 3rd we will have our HAYRIDE AND HOTDOG ROAST
at High Star Christmas Tree Farm on Becker Road in Hockley, just a
ten minute drive down the road. Again the chance for great food (ok
that’s a stretch – but it is roasted over open fires) and great singing as
we gather from 6:30 to 8:30 to roast hotdogs, sing Christmas Carols
and enjoy a hayride. This has become a great family tradition! Call
the church office for details.
On Saturday Dec 4th our youth will remind us of the true spirit of
the season, our ability in a small way to follow the path of our Savior
who gave himself for us. These brave junior and senior high kids
have set that day aside for their annual CAMP FOR CHRIST. Those of
you who have spent at least one year in the area know, this is the
culmination of a month’s worth of work as our kids spread throughout the community to collect clothes, blankets, baby and personal
items for the Angels Attic of Cypress Assistance Ministries. The real
challenge will come on that Saturday night when, no matter what the
weather, the youth camp out in boxes on the church lawn letting them
experience, if even just for a day, what it means to give up their possessions.
The next Sunday (Dec 12th) is time for SIGHTS, SOUNDS, AND SMELLS
OF CHRISTMAS. This is great quality family time for all ages. Join us
at the church from 3:30 to 5:00. Santa will be making a special trip to
Good Shepherd to visit with the children. We’ll have lots of cookies

to decorate and eat as well as lots of crafts to make and share. PARThat evening our youth will have their
Christmas parties with separate PROGRESSIVE DINNERS FOR THE JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGHS
As we prepare for Christmas week, celebrate the birth of our Lord
Jesus with two Christmas Choral presentations. First on Friday December 10th at 7:00 p.m. the Children’s choir presents the “Spirit of
Christmas” pageant – what a blessing this will be. Then the next
week, Friday December 17th the adults and youth of Good Shepherd
will present the “Heart of Christmas”. What a great way to begin the
week leading to the celebration of our Lord and Savior’s birth.
Advent culminates with four Christmas Eve Services: At 4 pm a
Family Service, at 6 pm a Contemporary Service, at 8 pm a Service
of Carols and Lessons and all that jazz, and then at 11 pm a Traditional Midnight Service. All services will culminate with the lighting
of candles and the singing of Silent Night.
All in all a great time to experience Good Shepherd. Join your
friends and neighbors as we worship together. Good Shepherd is
located on Cypresswood, two blocks east of Mason Rd. In addition
to any of these programs the church family looks forward to meeting
you and your family at either the 8:31 Traditional Worship, the 10:59
Contemporary Praise service, or the Saturday evening Common
Grounds service which meets at 5:55 p.m. Call 281 373-CARE (2273)

Trinity Vineyard Church
Who are we?
Trinity Vineyard is a new church that is gathering in Fairfield. We
love Jesus. We are growing through study of the bible. We find life
and purpose in relationships. We drink coffee together and dress
casually. We exist to pursue God in the company of friends.
What’s on our mind this month?
We are currently going through a series called Alpha. Alpha is a
practical introduction to the Christian faith. Everyone is invited to
come with their questions and join us on a journey to explore the
meaning of life. This past month we have explored the subjects of
how to be sure of our faith, prayer, reading the bible, and how God
guides us.
In December we will look at the importance of the church and conclude the Alpha series with discovering how to make the most of the
rest of our lives. We will also reflect on the birth of Christ and the
impact He has had in history, our culture, our churches, and our lives.
Who is invited?
Imperfect people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures are welcome to attend.
When are our Gatherings?
On Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm to 7:15pm. Children’s programs are
provided for those 6 months – 5th grade. Mid-week small groups are
another opportunity to join us in this mission to pursue God in the

company of friends. We study the bible together, pray for each other,
and do life together. Email us or call for more info.
