Ryerson School of Interior Design & Design Fabrication Zone Yabu Pushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design COMPETITION GUIDELINES PURPOSE The intention of this fund is to cultivate interior design innovation and entrepreneurship by supporting a student to establish his/her own area of interest and specialty in interior design practice by building upon his/her ideas developed within the context of RSID undergraduate course research and creative direction. Whether applied to an overall project direction development or a component to prototype, this award will encourage new ways of thinking about interior design innovation. BACKGROUND, NUMBER AND VALUE OF AWARDS The Yabu Pushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design will provide one Ryerson Interior Design Student with $6,000 to take his/her project from ideation to the prototype stage and promote the greatest degree of innovative thought in interior design. Funding for the competition will be made available to eligible students in the spring of 2016 to undertake their projects in the summer months. s Be registered as a full-­‐time undergraduate student (4 billing units) in the 3 or 4 year in the School of Interior Design at Ryerson University. s Have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and be in clear academic standing. WEIGHTED CRITERIA Project application submitted per DFZ application requirements, along with a one-­‐page brief outlining how the project best demonstrates innovation in interior design. Faculty members from the School of Interior Design can also nominate a student for the Award by submitting a one-­‐page letter of that will accompany their project application. The project application and brief/letter of support will be assessed and weighted based on the following factors: Description of the proposed Interior Design and Entrepreneurial Innovation (30%) Description the ideas developed (with reference to the driving RSID undergraduate course/investigation) (30%) Description of how your project is compelling in terms of the new research you are conducting and/or your creative or prototyping direction (30%) Overall presentation (10%) APPLICATION INFORMATION: A completed application must include: • Project Application – available at dfz.ryerson.ca/yabupushelberg-­‐award-­‐application/ • Visual Submission • One page brief or letter of support from your faculty reference Applications should be submitted at dfz.ryerson.ca/yabupushelberg-award-application/ Letters of support from faculty members should attached in the application or emailed to [email protected] All inquiries should be directed to [email protected] SELECTION AND ADMINISTRATION The selection committee will be comprised of at least three representatives from Ryerson University. They will review the applications and prepare a ranked list of qualified Award recipients. The final selection of the recipient will be based on the weighted criteria. If, in the opinion of the of the selection committee, no candidates meet the outlined criteria, the Award shall not be given to any applicant in 2016.
