Constable’s Bulletin
By Constable A.J. Dorr
Y
our Current Board of Directors has done it’s best to
balance the use of the most popular of Greatwood
amenities - the Pools. We have considered the requirements
and requests of our two (200) member swim teams and
have tried to balance what we feel is a fair use of the aquatic
facilities with the desires and requirements of our residents who we realize are paying the bills. Realizing that Greatwood
only has one aquatic facility, Pool #1, capable of supporting
the stringent bather load of competitive swim teams; we
have allocated the use of that facility to maximize its use with
the intention of satisfying everyone.
Briefly, in concert with our 2012 contracted
professionally qualified Pool Management Company, Texas
Aquatic Services; we have re-evaluated the Greatwood Pool’s
capabilities and have determined, for technical reasons, that
Pool #2 cannot be used for high population swim team use.
In that Greatwood desires to support two (200) member
swim teams we made the decision that both teams must use
the single Pool #1 available for their operations. This meant
that the practice schedules and competitive meets had to be
accommodated.
To make this accommodation during the Swim Team
season, through July 13, 2012; we allocated the available
time in Pool#1 as follows:
T
he month of May is probably one of the busiest months
of the year. It is time to plan those vacations and trips,
plan for childcare for the summer, and wrap up the school
year with the end-of-year events. With all of this, you must
continue to be alert to security and safety. It is also important
to get out and exercise your right to vote. Currently, there is
a strong possibility that there will be only one voting place in
Greatwood. That place will be Dickinson Elementary School.
To keep up with the latest info on polling places, go to the
Constable’s website in www.fortbendcountygov.com. Go to
quick links, click Constables in the drop down. After you do
that, there will be a drop down with Precinct 1 in the upper
left side box. Click on Precinct 1, this will bring you to our
website. Here you will be informed about early voting dates
and locations.
We know that there will be children old enough to stay at
home while parents are away at work. In any case, it is a good
practice to leave a list of contact numbers on the refrigerator.
If an emergency arises and a contact is needed by emergency
responders, this is where we look first. Teach your children
how to answer the phone, and what not to say to the caller.
Further, these instructions should carry over when a stranger
comes to the door. The biggest mistake children make is to
say, “My parents are not here.” For adults, they may say, “My
(your significant other) is not at home, can you come back
later?” The next question is followed up by “What time will
they be home?” One good way to teach some of these practices
is to rehearse the phone call or knock at the door situations
with them, make the corrections as needed until they have the
best understanding, and you both are confident about how to
respond. In any questionable situation, be sure that they know
where the contact list should be. Having a close by neighbor’s
phone number will be a good number for the list.
Caller ID “spoofing” is another scheme. You check your
caller ID to see who is calling. There it is: your bank name or
one of your favorite credit/bank card companies. The caller
isn’t the person or company who’s calling. This is generally
how it works: Caller ID spoofers log onto one or several
websites, create an account by paying a small fee, and enter
a name and number they want to pretend to be calling from,
that is either a bank or major credit card company. The phone
network then displays that information on a recipient’s caller
ID. In any situation, when you get calls over the phone, from
a person claiming to be from a financial institution, hang up.
Call your bank or credit card representative and let them know
what just happened.
Be sure to go online at www.fortbendcountygov.com to
sign up for the House Watch program for those well deserved
and needed vacations this summer. You may call our office if
you have any questions or do not have access to the web at
281-341-4635, M-F, 8AM- 5PM.
Have a great summer, be safe.

he International Social Group for Adults (ISGA) recently enjoyed
several events including a jazz performance at the Wortham
Center and a Spring Fling with an Italian food theme. Members
enjoyed socializing with all types of refreshments at the Caseys’
and they also played games for prizes. Among some of the countries
represented were Australia, Ireland, Taiwan, Argentina, Sweden and
France. That event was followed later with a Celebration of Life
social, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. If you are interested
in becoming a member of the ISGA, you are welcome to contact the
coordinator/founder, Vicki Latham. “Lives based on having are less

County Libraries’
2012 Texas Summer
Reading Club For Children
Exciting Plans Underway
For Fort Bend County
Libraries’ Teen Summer
Reading Club 2012
R
“T.S.I.: Realm of the Unknown” is the theme for this
summer’s Young Adult Reading Club for Teens, which
begins Tuesday, May 29, at all Fort Bend County Libraries
locations. Exciting free activities – from game days and
movie nights to cookie decorating and scrapbooking
classes – are being planned, while area teens discover the
wonders of the world that can be found between the pages
of a book!
Teens are encouraged to read as many books as they
can, and they will earn rewards based on the total number
of hours they spend reading or the number of readingrelated activities they complete. The reading activities
may include watching a movie based on a book, attending
a teen library program, or making a bookmark or poster
based on a book. Listening to audio books and reading
magazines and newspapers may also be counted.
Participants may register at any Fort Bend County
library, or they may register online by going to the FBCL
website (http://www.fortbend.lib.tx.us) and clicking on
the “Teen SRC Sign-Up” image. Once the online registration
form has been completed, the teens will then have their
own online page on which to record their hours and
activities.
For the irst ive activities completed, each teen will
receive a bookmark. The rewards continue with a key light
for 10 activities, a draw-string backpack for 15 activities,
and a reading trophy for the irst 20 books read. Reading
rewards can be redeemed beginning Monday, June 4. The
last day to pick up awards is August 25.
Weekly drawings for gift cards from area stores –
donated by the library Friends organizations -- will also
take place at each branch library. In addition, the names
of participants will be entered into a drawing for a $25gift card that will be awarded to several lucky readers
completing 20 activities or more, in a drawing scheduled
in August at each library location.
There is no charge to join the Summer Reading Club, and
it is open to all teens, regardless of the county of residence.
The program is sponsored by the Texas State Library, Fort
Bend County Libraries, and the Friends organizations that
support the county library system.

egistration for the 2012 Texas Summer Reading Club (SRC)
will begin on Tuesday, May 29, and continue through July 28,
at all Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) locations. Children from
infancy to early teens are invited to come to the library to read a
lot of great books, see some exciting programs, and join in some
fun activities to kick off a great summer!
This year marks the 54th Anniversary of the Texas Summer
Reading Club for children. The theme for this year is “Get a Clue…
at the Library!” Children are encouraged to read as many books
as they can and they will earn rewards based on the total number
they read or have read to them, or on the total number of hours
they spend reading.
“Research shows that children who are read to from an early
age have a larger vocabulary and better language skills when they
start school. They also have a greater interest in books,” says Susan
King, Coordinator of Youth Services at Fort Bend County Libraries.
“Children who want to have books read to them are more likely to
want to learn to read. You can give your child a life-long advantage
if you start now to develop a love for books and reading. Children
who are good readers are usually the most successful learners.
That’s why we invite parents to enroll their children, as young as
possible, in the Summer Reading Club. Reading is a good habit to
start!”
Participants may register at any Fort Bend County library, or
they may register online by going to the FBCL website (http://
www.fortbend.lib.tx.us) and clicking on the “Youth SRC Sign-Up”
image, which will become available May 29.
Upon registering, participants will then have their own
online page on which to record their books. Reading rewards can
be redeemed beginning Monday, June 4. For the irst ive books
read, the child will receive a bookmark. The rewards continue
with a pencil for 10 books, a certi icate for 15 books, and a reading
trophy for the irst 20 books read. For every 20 books read, the
participant’s name will also be written on a paper dinosaur to be
displayed in that branch library. The last day to pick up awards is
August 25.
Young patrons are also invited to register to win plush
book-characters that will be given away in weekly drawings. In
addition, the names of participants will be entered into a drawing

Greatwood
Election Results
Greatwood Pools
D
ue to the size of Pool #2 and water quality issues
experienced in the past, both Gators and Geyser swim
teams will utilize Pool #1 for all practices and meets. In
addition, by combining team usage to Pool #1, now Pool #2
will have a more consistent daily schedule and better water
quality. Residents will have the same access to community
assets as in the past, just on a different schedule.
The HOA has spent more than $77K on pool maintenance
and upgrades. The new pool management company is
working very hard to accommodate resident needs, HOA
requests, and water quality issues. We feel very confident
that these changes will benefit all residents.
O
n, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 Greatwood’s Neighborhood
Representatives voted to fill the two open positions
on the HOA Board. Twenty-two of Greatwood’s twentynine neighborhoods were represented at this election.
Congratulations to Jack Molho and Bob Farr
who were elected to serve for the next
two years as Board Directors.

2012 Summer Program
Series for Children
V
olunteers and staff announce this year’s schedule for
the 2012 summer youth program tailored to children
ages 3-14. Eco-Explorers Tadpoles (ages 3-7) will meet most
Tuesdays starting June 5 - July 31, from 9:30 - 11:00 am. EcoExplorers for children ages 7 - 14 will meet each Thursday
starting June 14 - July 26, from 9:30-11:30. Both programs
will include explorations of a specific topic with indoor and
outdoor activities including games, crafts, songs, and snacks.
Sessions for Tadpoles will consist of Working Together
(ecosystems), Billions of Bugs, Seed Search, To Eat and Be
Eaten, Wetland Wonders and Our Feathered Friends.
Eco-Explorers sessions will consist of High-Tech
Scavenger Hunt (geocaching), Mysteries of Water, MicroMonsters (pond life), Reptile Relatives, Flying Wild and
Mammal Match.
Pre-registration is required with a limit of 25 participants
for each session. Participants will be asked for a $2 donation
for each session or $10 to reserve a spot for all 6 sessions.
Donations benefit the Brazos Bend State Park Volunteer
Organization. Program donation is in addition to normal park
entrance fees: children ages 12 and under are free; anyone
age 13 and up, $7 per person. Ask about the Texas State Parks
annual pass.
For detailed descriptions of each session, registration

Pets and Poop
GOT GILLS?
By Judy Holy
If not, David Fullerton, age 17, is offering
swim lessons to people of all skill levels!
S
ummer is here. More people are
walking their dogs and there are
many complaints about the amounts
of poop left along the paths and in
the common areas.
Children, as well as adults,
who are in or around our
playgrounds or in our common
areas, are bound to step in
“something” and with sandals on
most people’s feet, this is really
nasty. There is nothing worse than
getting in the car or coming into the
house with that unmistakable smell on
someone’s shoes.
So, PLEASE, if you walk your dog,
do your neighbors a favor and pick up
after your pet. We’ll all thank you for it.
For those of our residents who are diligent and walk
with a plastic bag, a big THANKS!
Just another way to keep Greatwood great!
David swam with the nationally ranked USA league First Colony
Swim Team for 5+ years and gave swim lessons to kids ages 4 to
13 for the past 2 summers. David can help improve technique in
all 4 strokes and can teach children the basics of how to swim.
If interested please call 281-793-4660 for details.

Sign Placement
S
everal months ago this sign was placed at all
entrances into Greatwood. It is self-explanatory.
This applies to signs placed in our “common areas.”
Please keep our community looking “great” by
complying with our Deed Restrictions.
Some realtors are the biggest offenders. If you
are selling your home, you can certainly have a “For
Sale” sign on your property but your realtor cannot
put Open House signs in the common areas. These
signs will be removed as well as any and all signs
with commercial advertising of any kind.
Signs notifying our residents of a Greatwood
sponsored event, like the Christmas Lighting Contest
or notifications of Neighborhood Meetings, are
allowed with permission from the HOA.

T-shirt special to RJH to bring awareness to Bullying and the
long lasting effects it has on students. The winner was 7th

“Your Home SOLD in 88 Days or Less
GUARANTEED
Or I Pay You $2,000 Cash*”
To find out more, call 1-888-888-1331 ID# 1088 anytime,
24 hours a day for recorded information which explains this offer.
While every agent promises to sell your home, in today’s real estate market, that just doesn’t always happen. The
truth is, many homes listed for sale sit on the market for months and months, and some of these homes never sell at
all. This is highly frustrating to a homeseller like you. But more than frustrating, it can be financially devastating if
you need to sell your home to fulfill some other obligation.
Well, Sheila Cox sets herself apart from most agents by being accountable to you. In other words, she doesn’t just
promise to sell your home, she GUARANTEES it. Sheila’s 88 Days or I Pay You $2,000 Guarantee is as simple as
this: “I GUARANTEE to sell your home within 88 days or I pay you $2,000 cash*!”
Instead of making you empty promises, she gives you a written GUARANTEE of performance, and if she doesn’t
live up to this agreement, she pays you $2,000 cash*!

There are always milestones in our lives that we anticipate eagerly,
and mark with great fanfare. Some happen every year, and others
only once in a lifetime, such as high school or college graduation.
These are Life Business moments that tug at your heartstrings knowing how hard you’ve worked and/or all you have sacri iced to
make it to this moment in time.
One such blessing comes for us in just a month, as our oldest son
moves on to a new chapter in his Life’s Business by graduating from
high School.
We are so proud and so thankful for all we have…Thank you for
letting us be a part of your Life’s Business…
School District
And, thank you for letting us be
a part of your neighborhood.
