Sy. In her opening remarks, Executive Director Sy emphasized the importance of working together to deliver better service which, in NWPC’s case, has resulted to an impressive performance in 2014. The annual teambuilding exercise is an opportunity to further build camaraderie among staff and engage in activities that will foster collaboration and team spirit. “Our sincerest goal in conducting teambuilding is for us to know ourselves more than the usual work-related dealings,” says Executive Director Sy. This includes strengthening the relationship within and among the various divisions of the organization. WPRD Chief Iza M. Anchustegui, who served as the chairperson of the program committee, introduced the S-T-A-R assessment framework as an approach to working better in teams. The said approach recognizes that leaders and members of the team have to reflect on the (S)imilarities and differences, (T)alking and listening, (A) uthentic Work and (R)eason for working together. N WPC officers and staff participated in a workshop on Documenting the Quality Management System, facilitated by Ms. Ma. Cecilia M. Fabian of Rosehall Managament Consultants, Inc. at the BWC Conference Room, Intramuros, Manila last June 8. The objective of the workshop was for participants to understand the ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements. The workshop covered topics on documentation requirements, creating and updating documented information, and processes in controlling documented information. In her closing remarks, Deputy Executive Director Ms. Fabian said documented information, whether maintained or retained, are important to an organization because it serves as knowledge management reference, guide for training new and multitask-oriented employees and basis for improvement. It also shows evidence of program implementa- tion and provides consistency and continuity of procedures. Most importantly, Ms. Fabian said documented information are useful for analysis, evaluation, and decision making which are important for policy and program review. She said that as one family, the NWPC staff should strive to continue being happy in fulfilling the Commission’s mandate. This is in line with the issuance of Ordinance 3011 of Bislig City which is in support to P.D. 856 or the Sanitation Code of the Philippines. Several of the attendees were from water refilling establishments and restaurant business. DED Damo underscored out the importance of taking care of the most important asset of any organization which is its people. Management should adopt a policy of transparency and open communication. She emphasized the importance of adopting an “open door policy” to encourage employees to communicate problems/issues with management. The compensation, wage and benefits are also big motivators. DED Damo encouraged everyone to keep in touch with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity (RTWPBs) about minimum wages, gainsharing schemes, and productivity improvement trainings that can boost worker and enterprise productivity.
