And these record sales led to record retailer commissions - $55.9 million!
Scratch-off ticket sales were key in the record-breaking performance, rising $39
million from FY14 to a record-breaking $560.5 million.This breaks the old record
level set in FY13 by $38.3 million. Draw game sales held nearly steady at $338.6 million, rising $1.3 million from FY14’s level of $337.2. Keno sales showed the most
dramatic increase of any draw game – 60.7% - to $47.3 million in its first full year
of sales.

Powerball and Mega Millions continued their declining performance from FY14, following the trend seen at other lotteries. Powerball sales fell $14.6 million to $65
million, while Mega Millions sales declined $6.6 million to $33.2 million.

While sales led to record-breaking profits returned to the Commonwealth, this
dramatic dip from large jackpot games caused us to not meet the budget goal set
for our revenues. A total of $236.1 million was transferred to the state in FY15,
breaking the old record of $225.3 million by $10.8 million.This however was $16.2
million below what was budgeted by the Commonwealth for FY15 dividends.
So in essence, the things we can control did extremely well last year.

Offer good September 14 – October 24, 2015
Thanks to your amazing work, FY15 was another
record-breaker! I’m pleased to report sales in FY15
were $899.1 million (including $12.2 million in free tickets). This breaks the old sales record established in
FY14 of $858.8 million by $40.3 million.
I believe we have terrific momentum going into the new fiscal year. Scratch-off ticket sales for the first week of July were better than any week we saw in the first six
months of the last fiscal year. Our scratch-off ticket sales in May and June were
around 13.5% higher than the same time last year, Powerball and Mega Millions actually performed better in Kentucky than it did in many of our peer states.

Our board of directors has approved an aggressive budget for FY16. It includes a
sales projection of $969 million in traditional lottery sales, an 8.1% increase over
FY15’s sales mark.This includes $600 million in sales of scratch-off tickets and $369
from draw games. Our work is cut out for us.

Tickets Remaining Number on the Back of Scratch off Tickets.
In 2008 we added a ‘Tickets
Remaining’ number (circled in red)
on the back of our scratch-off tickets as an enhancement to help
retailers identify at a glance how
many tickets remain in a pack that is
currently being sold.
This number was not meant to
replace the actual ticket number
(located to the left) but only a tool
for you, our retailers. For some
time now we have been experiencing issues with these numbers being
mistaken as the actual ticket number for everything from returns to
reporting lost/stolen tickets.
For balancing purposes, the actual
ticket number must be used to correctly identify the tickets sold for
the day.
Reporting the incorrect ticket number in a lost/stolen case could
result in a person being detained or
even arrested for cashing a ticket
they actually bought from your
store!
Please ensure that all your clerks can identify the actual ticket number and know that
when reporting a theft or requesting help with a ticket that the ticket number is
NOT in parenthesis ( ).
