the 2016 Invite Brochure.
Dear Friends, We are writing today, to personally invite you to join us in beautiful Coeur d’Alene for the 2016 Idaho Governor’s Cup, August 25-27. In its 42nd year, the Idaho Governor’s Cup continues to grow and succeed with the help of great supporters and sponsors like you. Thank you! Your tireless participation and generous contributions enable Idaho students to achieve their education goals right here in Idaho. We broke all previous fundraising records in 2015, and we hope to do the same in 2016. During our administration we have been able to provide more than 200 scholarships to Idaho students. This year we received applications from a record number of students from every corner of the state – all of whom are exceptional young people with very bright futures. This year, 40 dynamic and well-rounded students were selected as scholarship recipients. Those students are pursuing a broad variety of academic majors, including career technical education. We are looking forward to watching what their futures hold and the opportunities that await them in Idaho’s workforce. We also look forward to seeing you in Coeur d’Alene to enjoy a weekend of camaraderie, relaxation and entertainment for a great cause! As Always, Idaho – “Esto Perpetua” The Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship The Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship is available to high school seniors and home school students throughout Idaho. All proceeds from the Idaho Governor’s Cup are dedicated to funding this program. Academic and career-technical awards are offered to those students who plan to further their education at an Idaho college or university and who demonstrate a strong commitment to public service. Academic scholarship recipients receive $3,000 each year, renewable up to four years, while scholarship recipients pursuing a career-technical education or trade school education receive $3,000 per year for the length of the program, up to three years. By participating in this year’s event, you provide more opportunities for Idaho students to further their education in our great state. For more information about the scholarship, please visit the State Board of Education website at www.boardofed.idaho.gov/scholarship/gov_cup.asp. C.L. “Butch” Otter Governor of Idaho Lori J. Otter First Lady of Idaho “Thank you so much for selecting me to receive the prestigious Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship. It was such an honor to receive this award, and I want to thank all of you for your work and effort to provide scholarship funds for students. This scholarship is going to help me reach my high educational goals. I plan to earn an associate degree in a Physical Therapy Assistant program, and then I will continue my education and earn a bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology at BYUIdaho. College education is very important and valued in my family, and that is why four of the five children in my family will be attending universities this fall to earn different degrees. There is a great cost to be able to participate in getting a higher education, and this scholarship is very important in helping me achieve my educational goals. I have worked hard to maintain a focus on academics through high school, and I have also realized the importance of service to others as we work toward our own goals. I plan to keep this focus on academics and service as I go through college, so that in some way I can make a positive difference in this world. Thank you for making a positive difference in my world.” – Amree Bean Graduate of SugarSalem High School Attending BYU-Idaho step-by-step registration guide Registration for the Idaho Governor’s Cup is online. It is a great honor, and it will help out my family and me tremendously in our efforts to pay for my college education. It is humbling to be chosen from the elite talent pool that is the senior graduating class of the State of Idaho. College is very expensive, and this scholarship makes that number a little bit more realistic. I plan to attend The College of Idaho next fall to study Political Economy. The College of Idaho has an excellent PEAK program which will allow me to study multiple areas, and graduate with one major and three minors in four years. I am happy to be attending such a great school in my own state. After graduating from C of I, I plan to attend law school and obtain my Juris Doctorate. After law school, I plan to pursue a career in public service, law, or foreign service. Whatever it may be, I hope to represent my hometown of Nampa, and the great State of Idaho well.” – Blake Cowman Graduate of Skyview High School Attending College of Idaho “I am excited and honored to receive the Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship! This great award will help me pursue my education at the University of Idaho and ease the financial burdens on me and my family. I plan to major in Biology (pre-nursing) and minor in Spanish. I look forward to giving back to my community by entering the healthcare industry in the future and serving the citizens of our great state! Call the Resort Boardwalk Marina at 208-765-4000 ext. 21. 2nd Annual “All Idaho Gun” Auction In it’s first year the “All Idaho Gun Auction” raised $46,000 for scholarships. We hope to beat that number in 2016! At the 2016 Idaho Governor’s Cup, we are pleased to be able to offer another special firearm for auction during Saturday’s award ceremony. Presented by Tactical Export Strategies, manufactured with parts and expertise from 12 Idaho manufacturers and distributors, and assembled with coordination help from the Idaho Department of Commerce, the 2016 Idaho Gun is an example of technical innovation and and exceptional design. Sun Valley on Ice is pleased to present a special performance on Saturday, September 12 for the 2015 Governor’s Cup featuring some of our favorite skaters: FIREARM AUCTIONEER: Governor Otter • Ryan Bradley – 2011 United States Champion • Erin Reed – United States National Team Member MANUFACTURERS AND DISTRIBUTORS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE CONTRIBUTIONS: This gun is one-of-a-kind; it is the only model available for retail sale and was displayed in Las Vegas earlier this year in the Idaho Department of Commerce’s booth at S.H.O.T. Show 2016. Over $8,500 of retail parts, countless hours of coordination and the gun’s uniqueness combine for a valuation of over $10,000. The Governor’s Cup logo is expertly engraved into the hand guard, and all of the logos of the 12 Idaho companies that donated to its creation are present on the gun. Finally, a custom paint job with the Idaho Governor’s Cup logo makes it the perfect sportsman’s weapon to commemorate this special cause. *Cast of skaters may change due to unforeseen circumstances • Anita Hartshorn and Frank Sweiding – Tactical Export Strategies – Organizer – (Nampa, ID) World Professional Champions Amend 2 – Magazine – (Idaho Falls, ID) MGM Targets – Switchview and Custom Target – (Caldwell, ID) • Ashley Clark – 3X USFS gold medalist Night Force – Rifle Scope and Ring Mounts – (Orofino, ID) Unique ARs – Custom Forearm and Paint – (McCall, ID) Tactical Solutions – Barrel and Upper Assembly – (Boise, ID) Seekins Precision – Lower Receiver – (Lewiston, ID) Primary Weapons Systems – Buffer Tube & Castle Nut – (Boise, ID) Adaptive Tactical – Butt Stock – (Nampa, ID) Howell Munitions and Technology – Ammunition – (Lewiston, ID) Lone Wolf Distributors – Trigger Kit & Miscellaneous Parts – (Priest River, ID) Eberlestock – Gun Case – (Boise, ID) Auction Page We look forward to seeing you at the 2016 Idaho Governor’s Cup Executive Director Board of Directors Sarah fuhriman [email protected] 208-713-9466 doug Sayer – President Mike Reynoldson – Vice President Jeremy Pisca– Secretary Cordell Chigbrow – Treasurer Tore Beal-Gwartney Mark Benson Mike Brassey Lyn Darrington-Elliot Mark Dunn Rich Hahn Jason Kreizenbeck first lady lori otter jayson ronk Jeff Sayer Pat Sullivan Assistant Director elli Brown [email protected] 208-250-7398 idaho governor’s cup po box 983 • boise, id 83701 208-855-9296 www.idahogovernorscup.org
