The backpacks were distributed by our missionaries in Jenkins, Kentucky. Both the backpacks and shoeboxes helped to make many children’s Christmas merrier as well as share Jesus with them and their families. BBC sets new LMCO record We not only increased our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal this year to $3,000 (a 50 percent increase), we went over our goal and set a new LMCO record. A total of $3,120 has been received to date. Pictured above are 36 Christmas presents BBC collected for residents at Pinehill Nursing Center last month. The tree served as our visual with each dove lighting on it representing $50 given. The dove flying around the tree represents the last $20 received. A gift of $30 would enable it to join the other 62 doves on the tree. Even though it looks too crowded, they will be happy to make room for more. This is a great eternal investment. We pray God will bless this offering, and multitudes of people all over the world will come to know and trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior through this offering as it helps provide for our 5,000+ international missionaries. Giving is a life style that should be year round, however, at Christmas time we take it up several levels as we celebrate God’s greatest gift to us. In addition to the LMCO, the following photos show even more ways BBC did just that. In this picture is less than half of the toys collected at the 25th Annual Toyland Concert. With these and even more gifts donated later, BBC helped around 23 children in our community have a merrier Christmas. Continued on page 3 Page 3 More Christmas giving Continued from page 2 BBC, along with sister churches Byromville United Methodist and Mt. Vernon Baptist, ministered to our community at the annual Christmas in the Park in Groves Park on November 29. BBC provided sausage biscuits. The Methodists furnished soft drinks, provided face painting, and their pastor Josh Bizzell led everyone in singing Christmas carols. Mt. Vernon provided cookies and coffee. (Above) Methodist Pastor Josh Bizzell (far right) leading Christmas carols with help from Mary Anna Ingram, Mary Jo and Groves Jeter. Kids could get their picture made with Santa and their face painted by Mary Jo Jeter or Cheryl Wilder (far right). (Right) Jimmy Lockerman cooking sausage and Tammy Smith putting biscuits in oven. (Below) William Smith wrapping sausage biscuits. Our younger children, with the help of Vicki Lamberth and Robin Peavy and others, staged a delightful nativity scene on December 19. The star of the production of course was Baby Jesus played by Sawyer Peavy. Samantha Bowen (or is it Sabrina?) and Janice Gauthier of Mt. Vernon Church setting up the food table. The GEMS treated the senior adults in our community to delicious food, fellowship and bingo at our annual Senior Adult Christmas Brunch on December 6. Page 6 This study identifies ways God continues to call His people to be set apart and holy, reflecting His character. The Book of Deuteronomy records Moses' final messages to the people of Israel as they prepare to move into the Promised Land. He presented a challenge to a new generation of Israelites who had not experienced the Egyptian captivity or God's miraculous acts of deliverance on their behalf (that generation died during the wilderness wandering). God is presented as being compassionate to His people, while calling them to live a life that reflects His character. Moses warned the Hebrews of the consequences of failing to follow God's standards. You will be reminded that only through Christ can the curse of sin be broken and that we are called to reflect God's holiness. You will also realize that God is both compassionate and holy, with both working in total harmony. Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Saliba Hall beginning January 7 for this study, which is preceded by prayer time. Study guides are available in the FBIC classroom.
