Signal Requesting Equipment
Langmatz Signal Requesting Equipment As Quiet As Possible, As Loud As Necessary.
Langmatz signal requesting equipment ensures safety
Using Langmatz signal requesting equipment, pedestrians and the visually impaired can safely cross the street. Acoustic and tactile
signals assist in this regard.
The high-end device crossguide controls the signal volume depending on the time and the traffic noise. Voice prompts and signals
can be individually entered and played back.
These modular devices already incorporate acoustics and feature interchangeable upper sections with a push-button or sensor for
variable use. Individual software parametrisation permits installation together with older or modern control units for light signal
systems. With older traffic light controllers, it is possible to retrofit acoustics for the visually impaired without interfering in the
control unit. The traffic-noise dependent acoustics with guide signal and cross signal can be adjusted on a country-specific basis
using software. This is possible while in service and without opening the device.
We ensure safety!
Advantages
•
Modular devices with interchangeable upper sections with a push-button or sensor
•
Individual software parametrisation
•
Adjustment of the acoustics during operation
•
Voice prompts (acoustic request acknowledgement) can be input individually
•
Relief symbols configurable onsite
•
Tested mechanical stability and compact design: offers Protection against vandalism

General | Functions
Function
settings
All functions/parameters can be set using a USB cable, serial cable or Bluetooth
via laptop.
Retrofitting
older systems
When retrofitting, these devices can provide additional functions without interfering in the crossing control
unit. (e.g. visual feedback, acoustic, tactile cross signal).
These functions are only set via the software.
Retroactive
function
upgrade
Additional functional enhancements are enabled by a future-proof modular expansion bay.
Advantage: No replacement of devices for a function upgrade without a control unit change.
Event memory
Error memory
The device is equipped with different memories.
The event memory saves all changes made to the device with the ID code of the respective person making
the changes.
Saving
Copying
Parameter sets can be saved and copied.
Real-time clock
As an option, devices can be equipped with a gold cap buffered real-time clock.
Night time reduction or night time deactivation without accessing the control unit
All special functions are available in the device and can be activated via software.
The actuation of special functions is carried out via freely assignable inputs and outputs.

Signal request
Large surface sensor (potential free), large surface push button with two potential free micro switches
One opener or closer. All optionally available top covers are fully interchangeable without any required
modifications.
Visual
feedback
LED, red
Optical feedback can also be generated internally without any required access to the main traffic control
system. Here you can choose from several flashing or continuous light sequences. Activation is enabled by
software command. Advantage: Easy retrofit for an optical feedback functionality in existing installations.
Pedestrians | Special functions
Acoustical

confirmation
The activation of the large surface push button and/or the vibration push button can be equipped with a
short acoustic confirmation tone or a voice announcement can be played.

Signal request
Concealed push-button on the bottom of the device integrated into the crossing symbol
Tactile cross signal
Vibration module in combination with the crossing symbol on the bottom of the device
Acoustic cross signal
• Traffic noisedependent
Traffic noise-dependent - max. clock frequency up to 8 Hz
• Volume: min. approx. 30 dB (A) - max. 90 dB (A)
• Tones can be selected, loaded and activated (standard 880 Hz,
frequency range 800 Hz to 5000 Hz possible, for polyphonic tones, wave. files possible)
• Superelevation setting in 1 dB increments depending on the passage width
• Maximum and minimum level can be set in 1 dB increments from approx. 30 dB to 90 dB (A)
• Customised settings are possible
Remote
loudspeaker
• Cross signal and/
or
• Guide
signal
Accessible acoustic pedestrian alert tones such as “orientation” and „walk“ are emitted via an externally
mounted loudspeaker as per DIN 32981 requirements. The traffic noise dependent control signal is triggered
by the crossguide. Two mutually separate control ports are available for this purpose.
Loudspeakers can be mounted at a height from 2.10 m to 2.50 m.
Guide signal
• Traffic noisedependent
Traffic noise-dependent - ticking noise standard, clock frequency freely selectable
• Volume: min. approx. 30 dB (A) - max. 90 dB (A)
• Tones can be selected, loaded and activated (frequency range 800 Hz to 5000 Hz possible, for polyphonic tones, wave. files possible)
• Maximum and minimum level can be set in increments of 1 dB adjustable from ca. 30 dB to ca. 90 dB
• Superelevation fine setting in 1 dB increments from ca. -20 dB to ca. +20 dB
• Customised settings are possible

Visually impaired | Special functions
Acoustics
Night mode
Guide signal, cross signal, acoustic guide signal and/or vibration can be turned off and/or lowered in the
evening/at night. In this regard, each signal can be individually lowered in increments of
1 dB from 0 to 55 dB.
Activation: - Via optional internal clock
- Via control input
Green flashing
Different functions can be activated:
• Acoustics follows the flashing mode
• Doubling of the clock frequency - e.g. from 4 Hz to 8 Hz
• Selection of a different tone
Synchronisation of
visually impaired
signalling devices
Devices can be linked to each other whereby an activation of the cross signal and the vibrator is possible
without control unit integration. Devices can be networked together whereby the activation of the acoustic
as well vibro-tactile accessible pedestrian alerts can be triggered by the device itself without modifications
to the main traffic controller. Advantage: Easy retrofit of pedestrian signal functions for blind or visually
impaired persons in existing installations
Duration of
cross signal
The duration of the acoustic cross signal as well as the vibrator can be set in seconds.
Visually impaired | Special equipment
Relief symbols
The tactile symbols inform visually impaired pedestrians regarding the condition of the roadway to be
crossed.
• The symbols are always arranged from bottom to top in the direction of travel. The symbols can also
used rotated 180°
• Corresponds to, among others, the Austrian STANDARD V 2100 and V 2101

Pedestrian Signal Requester EK 424 plus
The new universal voltage device on the market for the use with
traffic signals with pedestrian signal requesting system
The Langmatz Signal Requester EK 424 plus for pedestrians is an innovative product
with tried and tested properties. Its multifunctional configuration options give you
planning flexibility and keep your costs lower. The equipment is designed
exclusively using capacitive sensors with a dynamic measuring principle. If any change
occurs in the sensor's request zone, such as gum being stuck to it or a film of ice, it
incorporates the change into the resonant circuit when a pedestrian makes a request.
The self-regulating resonant circuit does not trigger continuous operation.

Acoustics adjustment by remote control
Description
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
The remote control enables you to adjust all important parameters of the EK 98
doubLIC without having to open the device.
Settings can be made while the device is in operation and they take affect immediately.
The actual values of the device are displayed on the remote control.
Using the remote control, you can adjust more settings on the EK 98 than via the DIP
switches in the device.
A standard Bluetooth interface is used to transmit the data. Most common laptops and/
or PDAs can be used as a transmitter and receiver, and they can also be used to display
and save set parameters
The remote control consists of the BTM1 Bluetooth transceiver module as well as control software for laptops, PDAs or smartphones (requires a Bluetooth interface!)
A PDA or smartphone with installed software can be obtained from the manufacturer.
The software for laptops and PCs is provided free of charge
Remote control range: approx. 10 metres

The bottom or front of the EK 98 contains a socket in which the BTM1 can be
inserted.
The connection to the EK 98 is established automatically after starting the program
on the laptop, PDA or smartphone.
The current device parameters are read out and displayed.
