Dr. Kamlesh is presently working as Director, Guru Nanak Eye
Centre and Director-Professor and Head of Dept. of
Ophthalmology, as well as Chief of Strabismus and Orthoptics
section at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College
New Delhi.
He started his active academic career from Guru Nanak Eye Center and Maulana Azad Medical
College New Delhi as an Assistant Professor in 1984. In 1992, at age of 35 years he became
Professor, since then he is heading Strabismus and Orthoptics section. He has keen interest in
Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology and is actively involved in promoting clinical and
research work in the field of Strabismology.
Able and efficient Strabismologist with par excellence and an astute legal brain with law degree,
Prof. Kamlesh was honored with many awards, fellowships and honorary positions. Some of few
awards: “STATE AWARD” by Govt. of NCT of Delhi - the highest award for the service doctors for
the year 2003-04,Best Distinguished and resource teacher of the society for more than five years
by Delhi, ophthalmic Society, Prem Prakash Award-2004 by All India ophthalmological Society,
29th Dr. S Radhakrishnan Memorial National teacher Award 2013,Dr. B.S. Goel Award and Dr.
A.K. Khurana Award by SSI/SPOSI, Rashtriya Gaurav award (2005),Dr. S N Mitter Oration (2006)
by Delhi Ophthalmic Society, Certificate of merit and Academic Excellence consecutively for five
times by Delhi Ophthalmic Society and WHO fellowship twice in 1987 and 1995.His five research
papers on Strabismus were adjudged as Best free papers and hence awards by Strabismological
Society of India.
He is widely traveled international personality in quest of knowledge. He has been awarded WHO
fellowship twice for advanced training in IOL and Refractive Surgery at Moscow under the
guidance of Prof. S.N.Fyodorov and Prof. Egorova in 1987and again for postdoctoral fellowship in
Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at University of Illinois, Chicago and Wills Eye Hospital,
Philadelphia, U.S.A. under Prof. Calhaun, Prof. R.D.Reincke and Prof. M.Miller. He was
postdoctoral fellow at Chicago and Sydney eye Hospitals.
He has written 24 chapters in different books of Ophthalmology. He has 107 publicationsnational (69) and international (38) index journals in his credit.
He has many firsts (new surgical techniques- well documented with international recognition) to
his credit like Modified Knapp’s for surgical management of DEP with Horizontal Deviation,
Modified Hang-Back muscle recession technique and Kamlesh technique for inferior oblique
recession etc. He has more than 160 scientific presentations including guest lectures and clinical
talks at various National and International conferences including International Congress of
ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology and Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
He has been actively involved in organizing various symposia, conferences and workshops. He
has demonstrated live surgeries on squint at various state and zonal conferences.
Presently he is President elect of SPOSI and Member of the subspecialty Subcommittee ( Pediatric
Ophthalmology) of the Collegiums of the AIOS. He was the President of Strabismological Society of
India (2004-2008) and Member of Managing committee of All India Ophthalmological Society and
DOS representative of AIOS. He has been the member of Academic and Research Committee,
A.I.O.S. twice, Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology
(2001-2005) and Editor of Delhi Ophthalmic Society and Editor in chief of Delhi Journal of
Ophthalmology for the term 2003-2005. He has served Strabismological Society of India as
President, Vice-President and Chairman-Scientific committee as well as Secretary for 4
consecutive years each from 2004-08, 2000-2004 and 1996-2000 respectively. He was also Joint
Secretary (1993-95) and Library Officer of Delhi Ophthalmic Society. He has also served to IMA
chapter of medical specialties as a Member of Editorial Board.
He is a reviewer of Journal of strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology and cornea (International
Index Journal) and Indian journal of ophthalmology (National index Journal) and also edited as
Chief Editor- Indian Jr. of strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology and Delhi Jr. of Ophthalmology
besides on national advisory panel and managing editors of many other journals of various
states.
Besides Examiner and inspector of DNB, MCI, and Post graduation to various centers, He is also
on panel of Advisors and experts in UPSC, ESI, and UGC New Delhi (for awarding travel grants,
fellowships and financial grants as well as recognition of Deemed medical universities) and
UPPSC, Allahabad, Bihar PSC, Patna as well as at expert panel of Aligarh Muslim University and
BHU for the selection of Professors of Ophthalmology.

He has been a speaker in every conference of DOS for several years. His
field of interest is Cataract, ICL and Laser Vision Correction
As a part of DOS executive:
He has served the DOS as an executive committee member for 9 years in
various capacities like Treasurer, Joint Secretary, DOS Representative to
AIOS, member executive and has gained useful experience for efficient
running of DOS. As a Treasurer, he completed his tenure with a huge profit

As a DOS social worker:
He organised DOS screening camps at blind schools in Delhi on World Sight day, and got those children
operated free of cost where there was scope of recovering some vision. The effort benefitted many children
As a surgeon:
He has been doing live surgeries at DOS conferences for many years. He did the first live Femto-laser
cataract surgery in India at the DOS Annual conference, 2011. In another live surgery session, he
demonstrated the latest Phaco technique in handling a Grade 5 cataract before an audience of 2000
ophthalmologists. He has performed live ICL surgeries at several DOS conferences
As an innovator:
He has designed a new 22 Gauge irrigation cannula called the Pygmy Thin Walled cannula, a part of the
Bimanual 22 G Irrigation Aspiration cannula system, which gives the highest flow rate recorded so far, and
thereby ensures chamber stability with almost any kind of Phaco machine. He presented the same at the just
concluded AIOS Kolkata meet 2016 at an innovators meeting, and was awarded for the same.

Dr Amit Khosla has done his graduation from Maulana Azad Medical
College New Delhi and Post graduation and Senior Residency( VitreoRetina Trauma and Uvea) from Dr RP Centre AIIMS .
He has been in practice from 1994, and has been attached to Sir Ganga
Ram Hospital New Delhi, where he
is a Senior Consultant and Director of Siri Fort Laser Eye Centre.. He has
been a guide to many DNB students and
now runs a FNB Retina programme. He believes in team
work and Institutional building and working at the
cutting edge of technology. On the professional front he has set up among
the first
Vitreo- Retinal unit in a Pvt hospital in North India, which now runs
FNB Retina programme under the National Board of Examinations. He
has been a pioneer in starting many services (in Delhi/North India) combined Phaco-Vit (1997),/ ROP
treatment (1993) /Immunosuppressive in Uveitis (1994 Multi disciplinary Uvea services) / PDT
(2003)/OCT (2005) .
Dr Khosla has been participating in AIOS since his residency days in 1992 when he presented 3 free papers
and won the AIOS Quiz. He has both National and International publications , he has been presenting
papers in both National and International conferences besides authoring many chapters .He has been on the
editorial board of Dos times and Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology, reviewer for British medical journal
online , Indian Paediatrics and has written review article for Neonatal Journal of India. He has been
performing live surgeries since 1997 (Phacoemulsification and Vitreous Surgery).He has been presented
President Gold Medal by Indian Implant and Refractive Soceity of India(2011)
Organizational capacity He has been office bearer for many conferences held in Delhi .He held the post of
Secretary Delhi Ophthalmological society from 2009 to 2011 where he successfully organized Mid term /
Annual conferences / Post-graduate training programmes/Skill Transfer workshops/Wet labs. He believes
in providing continuous medical education at the click of a mouse, he web cast all conferences, created
online portal for lectures and surgical videos and using social media like facebook (dosonline ) as a
discussion forum. For the first time in India started Phaco training programme for its members.
In the endeavour to educate the public and medical fraternity organized Diabetic retinopathy and Glaucoma
screening camps with Delhi Medical Association and Indian Optometrist Association.
As Member ARC and Scientific Committee Proposed the PG Lectures at AIOS Annual Conference. Other
suggestions like bi-annual scientific committee meetings/wet labs/RFID for attendance/New marking
pattern for ICs/Merging of Education committee with ARC were accepted. As DOS representative to AIOS
he will act as a link between both the organizations where he has worked in various capacities.

Educational Background & Training
Dr Ashu Agarwal is a Cornea, Cataract & Refractive surgeon
practicing in Delhi. He graduated from the Maulana Azad Medical
College following which he did his post-graduation from Medical
College Rohtak. After a 1.5 year stint as a Senior Resident at
medical college Rohtak, Dr Agarwal went on to pursue a Fellowship
in Cornea & Anterior Segment from the prestigious L.V. Prasad
Eye Institute. He has also done observerships at Columbia
University Medical Centre, New York, USA and Boston
Foundation for Sight, Boston, USA.
Professional Experience
Dr Agarwal has been practicing Ophthalmology for the past 22 years and during this period has been
associated with prestigious Eye Institutes like L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Venu Eye Institute, ICARE Eye
Hospital, Centre for Sight & Mohan Eye Institute to name a few.
Present Affiliations
His present affiliations include his own practice at Perfect Sight Centre in New Delhi & Indraprastha
Apollo Hospital (New Delhi).

Apart from clinical work, Dr Agarwal is keenly interested in clinical research and academics. He has been a

in their practice. Member of numerous government committees where I advocate for the common
