Distinguished Service Award

UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY
SERVICE
Valley Implement was founded in 1951 by Lowell Christian Titensor, who
knew the importance of work and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Through his hard work he expanded his family farm and added raising,
breeding and trading fine horse stock. His years on the farm provided
valuable learning experiences, and when there was an opportunity to use
his knowledge in a new way he took a chance and assumed ownership of
a farm equipment business. From the company’s beginnings in Lewiston,
Utah, Lowell successfully expanded the business in Northern Utah and
Southern Idaho. Thanks to his vision and dedication, Valley Implement is
still a thriving business with locations in Utah and Idaho.
Valley Implement is an important part of the region’s
agricultural community and a valued supporter of agricultural
education and research at Utah State University.
Valley Implement was founded in 1951 in a deal that today
would require a team of accountants and attorneys, but Lowell
Titensor executed it with no exchange of money and very
little paperwork. He traded his farm and home for the original
Lewiston dealership and used the sale of his livestock to
capitalize the small operation.
The company and the Titensor family have both expanded over
the years. Valley Implement grew as agriculture prospered
in the 70s. Thanks to a combination of good luck and hard
work, it survived a dramatic reduction in the number of farm
equipment manufacturers and dealerships in the 1980s and
has grown steadily ever since, adding dealerships, products

and services. At the start, the business was handled by four
or five employees, most of them family members. Currently,
Valley Implement employs more than 80 people and has a
sales volume of nearly $40 million. Since 1997 the founder’s
grandson, Sid Titensor, has been the corporation’s president
and his son, Fred Titensor, has managed operations for most
of the past 10 years. They continue the tradition of seamless
transitions between family members who began work as
errand boys at age 8 and continued working with no regard for
formal retirement dates.
In recognition of the company’s support of agriculture at Utah
State University and the Titensor family’s dedication to serving
the region’s producers, the College of Agriculture and Applied
Sciences is pleased to honor Valley Implement with the 2014
Distinguished Service Award.

NEW CASE IH TRUE-TANDEM™ 335VT
This rugged vertical tillage tool quickly sizes and evenly distributes
heavy, tough crop residue and conditions and levels soil for the best
seedbed possible. In the fall, Case IH VT blades slice through tough
residue to size it for decomposition over the winter and level out
small wheel tracks, while the rear double-edge formed rolling reel
breaks up larger clods. In spring, indexed blades leave behind a nice
level seedbed floor and further size and even out residue while the
rolling reel distributes fines in the seedbed and smaller clods on top.
