Serving the Hudson community by providing year-round comprehensive learning,
enrichment and recreational programs for residents since 1976.
A Note from the Director,
I am excited to present the community the 2016 Winter & Spring HCER program catalog. In
response to customer feedback, we have made the book easier to navigate, so you can find the
classes you’re looking for quickly and maybe stumble upon something new! The front and back
covers feature pictures of participants from just a few of our many programs.
It is the mission of HCER to offer a variety of high quality programming that is fun and educational for all ages. As usual, I want to thank you for making HCER your first choice for community
activities.
I look forward to meeting you at an HCER program soon!
Meredith Zaffrann

Hudson Varsity Boys Volleyball
Club
(High School Boys)
Coach: Larry Meehan
Come play Hudson Varsity Club Volleyball -- a fast
paced, exciting sport, in which we will compete with
other high school teams throughout the Region.
Most of our players start with no real experience
with the competitive game (playing at the family
picnic does not really count!), but we are very
happy to teach the sport and the help develop the
characteristics that will allow each player learn
and compete. Determination and enthusiasm are
key ingredients to learning the game, often just as
important as size and speed, so we encourage high
school players of all ages to try out. We will develop
players for both JV and Varsity level competition,
so there is opportunity for all to play, and for some
to potentially earn a Varsity Club Letter. Team
placement and playing time will be based on merit,
but we will evaluate players throughout the season
as to where they might fit best. As your skills grow,
your role on the team will grow, too. Our season
runs from March through mid-May (culminating in
a State Playoff). Please feel free to contact Coach
Larry Meehan ([email protected]) with questions,

A newly revised and updated format will provide
a clear and concise approach to the fine art of fly
fishing. The two hour classroom session will give
each beginning student the know-how necessary to
fly fish on their own, decide what fly to use, tie the
correct knot and determine what places most likely
hold a fish. The two hour casting lesson at Hudson
Springs Park will teach the only two casts needed
to fish virtually anywhere. Internationally renowned
casting champion Tim Byrne will be on hand to
teach his easy to learn “plate” technique. Equipment
provided or bring your own. Fly Fishing can be great

HERE’S HOW WE GET THE CHILDREN FROM HERE TO THERE
Transfer Procedures: Please go over this procedure with your child, as it is very important to ensure the safety of all the children.
HCER counselors escort students attending HCER After-School Programs from their home school to the HCER program location. All students registered for an
HCER after-school program must bring a note from their parent stating they will be attending the HCER after-school class on each day of that class. This note
should be given to their homeroom teacher, and should include the name of the activity and the location. Students will then be released to the gym at dismissal
time to meet the HCER counselor and be escorted to the location of their particular class. This may be in their home school or one of the other elementary
buildings. It is very important to notify HCER if your child will not be attending their scheduled class that day. This can be done by phone at 330-653-1210 or
email: [email protected].
