Top Incoming Freshmen
Class of 2015
Presented By PA Power Wrestling
#1 Gavin Teasdale
Highlighting this season’s freshmen class in the
State of Pennsylvania. Top 50 Freshmen of all
Pennsylvania wrestlers from both PIAA Classes
and Prep Schools
New Kids on the Block
Every season there are a handful of wrestlers who are poised for success in
their rookie seasons of competition. Some freshmen are able to make the
adjustment to high school wrestling easier than others. A freshman
wrestler often faces older and more experienced wrestlers in their quest for
success.
Freshmen wrestlers also face the pressure and hype from wrestling fans.
“He’s the next 4-timer” and comparisons begin well before the first
whistle blows. The 2014 Top Incoming Freshman Spencer Lee of Franklin
Regional thrived from the attention and was untouchable in his rookie
season.
There are also those wrestlers who surprise us. There are freshmen that
practice hard and improve as the season progresses. They may not be the
biggest names in Youth wrestling but grow into their own in high school.
This report is to honor all of those freshmen that will be seeking success
right out of the gate. We wish the best of luck to all wrestlers who begin
their journey for greatness this season.

It is no coincidence that 2014 Top Incoming Freshman Spencer Lee (Franklin Regional) and 2015 #1 Gavin
Teasdale are close friends and training partners. Teasdale has elevated to one of the top incoming freshman
not only in Pennsylvania but the Nation. In 2014 Teasdale captured the ASICS Cadet Freestyle National
championship at 45 kg/92.5 lbs. and qualified for the FILA World Cadet Freestyle tournament. Traveling to
Snina, Slovakia to represent Team USA Teasdale went (2-2) finishing in fifth place. In 2013 Gavin captured the
USAW Fargo National Freestyle championship at 88 lbs. Earlier in 2013 Teasdale won his first career Super 32
Challenge Championship in the Middle School division at 90 lbs. after finishing third in 2012 and the runner-up
in both 2011 and 2010. Competing in Pennsylvania Gavin has dominated. In five trips to the Pennsylvania
Junior Wrestling State Championships Teasdale has earned four State Medals including two State
Championships. The Rices Landing native has also captured the PJW Area 1 Championship four times, the
South West Regional Junior High Championship twice, and the Ohio TOC Championship once. Gavin will be a
favorite to capture a PIAA Class AA State Championship at 106 lbs. as a rookie.

Nazareth Area will bring in one of the top freshmen classes in the State and leading that group is Sam Sasso.
The Blue Eagle’s youth career is highlighted as a 2x PJW State Champion and 4x State Medalist. Sam’s most
impressive performance came in April 2014 when he competed at 106 lbs. in the FloNationals High School
Division. There the eighth grader defeated Nationally ranked high school wrestlers en route to a fifth place finish.
In the medal round Sasso defeated North Hills sophomore and 2x PIAA State Medalist Gage Curry (7-3). Sam
also owns two MAWA Eastern National Championships and was a 2x Nittany Lion Open Champion in the Middle
School Division. In the 2014 PJW Junior High State Championships Sasso dominated the 117 lbs. field earning
a technical-fall, a major decision, and three victories by pin fall including the finals over fellow Top Freshman
P.J. Crane. The 2x District 11 Junior High Champion has also seen success competing in Freestyle. In 2012
Sasso won the PAWF Freestyle State Championship and also the Phil Portuese North East Regional Freestyle
Championship. Sasso will join a talented group of young lightweights for the powerhouse Blue Eagles. Sam
figures to fit in around 113 lbs. – 120 lbs. as a rookie and will battle for the top spot on the podium in Hershey.

There are few Top Incoming Freshmen with the accolades that Gavin Hoffman possesses. The younger brother of
Montoursville Area junior Garrett Hoffman, a 2014 PIAA Class AA State Sixth Place Medalist at 170 lbs., Gavin is
poised to outshine his older brother. As a youth wrestler Gavin is a class leading 4x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling
State Champion and a 6x PJW Area 10 Champion. If that wasn’t enough Hoffman is also a 2014 FloNationals
Middle School Champion and 3x MAWA Eastern National medalist including one Championship title. Competing in
Freestyle Gavin is a 2x PAWF State Freestyle Champion and a 2x Phil Portuese North East Regional Champion.
Gavin is slated to compete at 170 lbs. at the Super 32 Challenge at the end of October. Having older brother
Garrett, as a workout partner and mentor, will help Gavin through his rookie season. Hoffman predicts to compete
at 170 lbs. and will be in contention for a PIAA State Medal this season and may own a PIAA State Championship
by the time his career is over.

Pennsylvania wrestling fans may not catch a ton of Prep School action but Michael Beard is a name to get used
to hearing. Beard is a freshman at Malvern Prep but has competed for the Friars for the past two seasons. As a
seventh grade student Beard compiled a (4-2) season record competing at 126 lbs. – 132 lbs. against high school
wrestlers. As an eighth grader Beard once again faced high school competition going (13-3) on the season
wrestling at three different weights (152 lbs. – 170 lbs.). The Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic
Association (PAISSA) allows seventh and eight grade students to compete for high school varsity teams during
the regular season bot not the Pennsylvania Independent Schools State Wrestling Tournament (PAISWT). The
Berks County native competed for Daniel Boone during his PA Youth career where he was a 4x PJW State
Medalist and a 2x PJW State Champion. Additionally Michael is a 5 PJW Area IX Champion and a 3x MAWA
Eastern National Champion. In 2013 Beard was a Super 32 Challenge runner-up in the Middle School Division.
Having the experience wrestling for Malvern Prep against high school wrestlers as a seventh and eighth grader
will help propel Beard to the top of the National Prep stage.

a PJW State Championship in 2012. Milliken has been on the PA Youth Wrestling scene since 2007. Quentin owns
championships from the Nittany Lion Open and Ohio Tournament of Champions. In Freestyle Milliken has won the
Phil Portuese North East Regional Tournament and was a 2014 PAWF State third place medalist in the Cadet

2012 runner-up. Milliken will join a Cumberland Valley line-up full of talent including 3x PIAA State Medalist Patrick
Duggan. Expect to see Quentin compete at 160 lbs. for the Eagles and make an immediate impact on District 3 and
the State.

Ligonier Valley wrestling fans will be glad to welcome Robert Patrick to the mats this season. Pennsylvania wrestling fans
should recognize the Patrick name at Ligonier Valley, as Robby will be the third Patrick brother to compete for Ligonier
Valley. Robert’s older brother Josh was a 4x PIAA State Qualifier and 3x PIAA State Medalist at Ligonier Valley and
currently wrestles for Rutgers University. Middle brother Justin was a 3x PIAA State Qualifier and 2x PIAA State Medalist
in three seasons at Ligonier Valley before transferring to Kiski Prep. At Kiski Prep Justin was a 2014 National Prep fourth
place Medalist and will be a senior this season after gaining a year of eligibility. Younger brother Robby is no stranger to
success. Patrick is a 2x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Champion and 3x PJW Area 3 Champion. Additionally Robert is
a 2x Mountain Conference Junior High Tournament Champion and 2x Ohio Tournament of Champions runner-up. In the
2014 PJW State Tournament Robby went unchallenged en route to the 140 lbs. Championship picking up wins over fellow
Top Incoming Freshmen Luke McGonigal (Clearfield Area) score (11-5) and in the finals over Trent Hidlay (Mifflin County)
score (9-4). Most recently Patrick competed in the Chambersburg Super 32 Challenge Tournament (High School Division)
and finished in fourth place at 145 lbs. defeating several Pennsylvania high school wrestlers along the way. Robert is slated
to compete at 145 lbs. in the prestigious Super 32 Challenge early in November.

Greater Johnstown wrestling may be moving down to Class AA this season but they are getting an upgrade with
freshman Carnell Andrews. At the 2014 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championships Andrews won
arguably the toughest weight-class of the Tournament. At 124 lbs. Carnell was able to survive the field that
included studs Ryan Vulakh, Caden Mareno, Greg Wert, and A.J. Wilson. Carnell defeated Mareno (3-2) in the
semifinals before taking down Vulakh in the finals (3-1). It was not the first time Andrews captured PJW State
Gold as he won the 2013 Championship at 115 lbs. in the (11 & 12) division. In 2014 Carnell picked up a
FloNationals Championship in the Middle School Division and captured the NHSCA Middle School Nationals
Championship. Andrews will have an immediate impact for Greater Johnstown and should adjust well to High
School competition. Carnell will make several trips to Hershey and possibly earn multiple medals in Hershey in his
career.

Josh Stillings is a polished wrestler who has proven himself among the top PA Youth wrestlers. An aggressive

Additionally Stillings has won Championships at the MAWA Eastern Nationals, Ohio Tournament of Champions,
Northeast Nationals, and Reno Worlds. Competing in Freestyle and Greco-Roman Josh has earned multiple
PAWF State medals including a Pennsylvania State Championship in each style. Expect to see Josh around 138

After three trips to the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championships that ended in third place medals Cody
Mulligan moved to the top of the podium in 2014 winning the 132 lbs. PJW Junior High State Championship. It was
no easy task for Cody who earned a hard-fought (1-0) decision in the State Finals over fellow Top Incoming
Freshman Jake Hendricks. Mulligan was also a 2x Champion at the Ohio Tournament of Champions and has earned
multiple PAWF State medals in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Joining a talented Saegertown program Mulligan
will have no shortage of workout partners in the practice room. He will be pushed by 3x PIAA State Medalist Tyler
Vath who enters his senior season with a (122-19) career record for the Panthers. Junior Nick Monico is already a 2x
PIAA State Medalist in two seasons with Saegertown and Mulligan will benefit greatly from having he and Vath as
partners. During his rookie season Mulligan will attempt to do what both Vath and Monico did in their freshman
seasons by earning a PIAA State Medal. Don’t be surprised if he succeeds in doing just that.

#17 Trent Snader is one of the more recognizable names of the 2015 Top Incoming Freshmen and will be sure to
grab headlines his rookie season for the Shamrocks of Trinity. Snader joins freshman Gregg Wert in the lightweights
for head coach Chris Bentley and expects to make an immediate impact on District 3 and the State. Trent, an
Elizabethtown native, missed all of the 2014 season with an injury but still holds an impressive Youth resume. Four
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State medals that included two State finals appearances highlight Snader’s Youth
career. Additionally he owns Championships from the prestigious Super 32 Challenge in the Middle School Division
and is a MAWA Eastern National Champion. At the Ohio Tournament of Champions Snader has dominated capturing
five (5) medals including the Championship title 3x. Snader is also a Brute Empire Nationals 2x Champion, a Nittany
Lion Open 2x Champion, a NHSCA U.S. Open 2x Champion, and a Northeast Nationals 2x Runner-up. If that's not
enough Trent has Championships at the Dixie Nationals and War at the Shore Tournament. At the 2013 PJW State
Championships Snader dropped a (9-2) decision to #1 Gavin Teasdale but finished in third place defeating
Pennridge’s Matt Parker (1-0) along the way. Trent will likely compete at 106 lbs. for Trinity, having fellow freshmen
Caleb Bentley and Gegg Wert Jr. as training partners, with Snader likely punching a ticket to Hershey and leaving
with PIAA hardware.

2013 PIAA State Dual Team Champion Canon-McMillan has graduated all of their starting line-up from that season.
Luckily for the Big Macs they will be welcoming a talented freshmen class that includes 2014 Pennsylvania Junior
Wrestling State Champion Ellis Popiolkowski. The freshman enters his rookie season as a 2014 PJW Junior High
State Champion and a 2013 PAWF Freestyle State Champion. At the 2014 PJW State Championships Popiolkowski
stormed into the State Finals picking up a fall in 0:19 seconds in the first round and three straight shut-out victories for
a total point margin of (31-0). In the finals he met WPIAL rival Luke Kemerer and picked up a (5-2) win. Ellis is also a
2x Cliff Keen Kick-Off Classic and 2x Ohio Tournament of Champions medalist. Popiolkowski projects to compete at
either 113 lbs. or 120 lbs. for the Big Macs and will benefit from working out with sophomore Matt O’Block who went
(32-11) as a freshman in 2014. At the FloNationals Tournament Ellis took fourth at 119 lbs. in the Middle School
Division.

At #14 sits the younger brother of 2x PIAA State Champion and former Penn State/Lock Haven grappler Jake
Kemerer. Younger brother Luke has big shoes to fill but the Hempfield Area freshman has a resume to match the
expectations. Kemerer is a 6x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Area 6 Champion and a 4x Pennsylvania Junior
Wrestling State Medalist. Additionally Luke is a 2x South West Regional Junior High Champion dominating the 2014
Tournament picking up three falls, one tech-fall, and a (10-1) major decision in the finals over #28 Brock Godzin.
Luke projects to compete at either 113 lbs. or 120 lbs. Kemerer will have the benefit of working out with 2013 PIAA
State Champion Sam Krivus and senior Ricky Cavallo. Luke may match his older brother by qualifying for the PIAA

Yet another younger brother who has big shoes to fill is #15 Cole Matthews of Reynolds. Cole is the younger
brother of Adam and Austin Matthews. Older brother Adam was a 2011 PIAA State Runner-up at Reynolds and
wrestled for N.C. State. Middle brother Austin was a 2013 PIAA State Champion and the 2014 EWL Freshman of
the Year, who will be wrestling for Edinboro after a freshman season at Clarion. In addition to a family tradition for
success Cole enters a Reynolds program that is accustomed to winning, a lot. Matthews has done quite a bit of
winning himself as a Youth Wrestler. Cole’s resume is highlighted by seven straight appearances at the
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Tournament, which culminated into a total of six PJW State Medals, including
a PJW State Championship in 2013. At the 2014 PJW Junior High State Championship Cole dropped a 112 lbs.
semifinal match to eventual runner-up #14 Luke Kemerer and finished the State Tournament in third place. A
month later at the 2014 FloNationals Matthews was able to earn a semifinal victory over #13 Ellis Popiolkowski (30) in the Middle School Division. Cole is on track to have a successful career at Reynolds and expect to see him on
the podium in Hershey, PA several times in the next four years.

the Middle School Division. Walters is an accomplished youth wrestler who competes often in both Freestyle and
Greco-Roman. Anthony is a multiple time place winner at the PAWF State Tournament and Phil Portuese North
East Regional Tournament in both styles. Additionally Walters is a 2014 NHSCA Middle School National Champion
and a 2013 Super 32 Challenge runner-up in the Middle School Division. At the 2014 PJW Junior High State

The second Wyoming Seminary freshman wrestler from Pennsylvania is Hanover Township native Jack Davis. At
the 2014 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Junior High State Championships Davis captured the 107 lbs. title
defeating #21 Zach Hartman in the finals (9-2) and earned a (3-2) decision over #23 Justin McCoy in the
quarterfinals. It was the third time Jack earned a PJW State medal having finished third and eighth previously. In
2014 Davis competed at the USAW Cadet Nationals in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman and was a double Cadet
medalist at both the PAWF State Tournament and the Phil Portuese Northeast Regional Tournament. At the
Wyoming Valley Conference Junior High Championship Davis remained undefeated on the season, going (25-0),
and capturing the 105 lbs. Championship. Like teammate and freshman Jake Hendricks, Davis will certainly benefit
from wrestling for a National Prep power such as Wyoming Seminary. As a freshman Jack will most likely compete
for the 113 lbs. spot and, if successful, will experience success for the 2014 National Prep Champions.

Francis may be the younger brother of Cumberland Valley star Patrick Duggan but he is definitely not the ‘little’
brother. Francis is a strong and well-built freshman who could see action anywhere from 182 lbs. to 220 lbs. for the
Eagles. Duggan will hope to make an immediate impact just as older brother Patrick did during his freshman
campaign. One of his top accomplishments of his Youth career was his seventh place medal earned at the USAW
Cadet Freestyle National Championship. In the 2014 PAWF State Tournament Duggan won the 195 lbs. State
Championship defeating current sophomore Cole Nye (Wyoming Seminary) by technical-fall (12-2). In addition to his
PAWF State Championship, Duggan captured the 2014 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Junior High State
Championship at 182 lbs. downing #36 Isaac Reid (Kiski Area) in the finals (4-2). Francis has improved throughout
his career and will flourish greatly from head coach Dave Heckard’s leadership at Cumberland Valley. Duggan
should have no issues adjusting to high school wrestling and competing against older opponents in the upperweights.

success. Zach is the younger brother of Josh Ortman, a 2014 graduate of Parkland, who was a 2x PIAA State
Tournament Medalist and 3x State Qualifier. Zach is no stranger to success either having won the 97 lbs. PJW Junior
High State Championship in 2014. En route to the Junior High State Championship Ortman had little trouble picking
up two falls, a major decision and two regular decisions along the way. It was the second PJW State Medal Ortman
earned having placed seventh in 2008. Zach is also a 2x District 11 Junior High Tournament Champion and 3x Ohio
Tournament of Champions medalist. In his freshman season Zach should compete at 106 lbs. for the Trojans of

Brock Godzin is a consistent wrestler from Belle Vernon Area who is a 2x South West Regional Junior High
Tournament medalist and a 4x Pennsylvania Junior High State Tournament qualifier. Godzin will join a talented
Belle Vernon Area wrestling program along side freshman #21 Zach Hartman in the lightweights. In 2014 Godzin
was a PJW State Junior High third place medalist at 117 lbs. After dropping a quarterfinals match to #20 P.J. Crane
(8-3) Brock stormed back with four straight victories to finish in third place. Godzin predicts to compete anywhere
from 113 lbs. – 126 lbs. for the Leopards depending on how the line-up pans out. Don’t be surprised to see Brock
compete well against the top WPIAL wrestlers and should have a few trips to Hershey, PA under his belt over the
next four years.

After winning a Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship in 2013 at 105 lbs. Luke McGonigal jumped up
to 140 lbs. in 2014. Luke is a 5x PJW Area 5 Champion and 4x PJW State Tournament Medalist. In 2014 at the
PJW State Tournament McGonigal fell in the quarterfinals to #6 Robert Patrick (11-5) but bounced back with four
straight victories to finish in third place. Luke is also a 2x Nittany Lion Open Champion and a Northeast Nationals
medalist. McGonigal joins a Clearfield Area program that has a long history of success in Pennsylvania but still is
working to get back to that dominance. Luke McGonigal is the most anticipated freshman for the Bison since Nolan
Barger and Christian Stone were rookies in 2009. Overall Luke will continue to adjust at a heavier weight but will no
doubt find success early in District 9. Based on his string of success at the PJW State Tournament expect
McGonigal to make more than one trip to Hershey, PA.

Canon-McMillan’s 2014 PIAA State Champion Dalton Macri is now at Cornell competing for the Big Red but

Logan is a 3x PJW Area 4 Champion and a 2x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Medalist. In 2014 Logan
captured the 92 lbs. PJW State Championship. Logan is also a 2x Super 32 Challenge Middle School medalist

Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Tournament qualifier and a 2x Medalist. In 2014 Kuntz placed third at the
PJW Junior High State Championship in a talented 132 lbs. bracket that features five (5) Top Incoming Freshmen
of 2015. The middleweight dropped a quarterfinal match to #12 Jake Hendricks by fall in (0:22) but was able to
regain focus and knock off four straight victories to finish in third place. Kuntz will see action at either 132 lbs. or

Malvern Prep freshman Chris Hisey returns to the mats after a solid season as an eighth grade wrestler competing
on the high school varsity level. In 2014 Chris went (33-7) for the Friars competing at both 132 lbs. and 138 lbs.
against high school varsity competition. At the PAWF State Freestyle Tournament Chris placed third at 138 lbs.,
falling to 2014 PIAA State Qualifier Brock Port (Bellefonte Area) in the semifinals (7-6), but he bounced back to
defeat 2x PIAA State Qualifier Zack LeBarron (9-5) to finish in third. Hisey is also a Super 32 Challenge Junior
High third place medalist and a NHSCA Middle School Nationals runner-up. Overall Hisey has already proved he
is capable of being successful on the high school level and now being eligible to compete in the post-season for
Malvern Prep expect him to make a trip to the National Prep Tournament.

The second Nazareth Area wrestler is #40 Dominic Paar. The Blue Eagle rookie has been on the PA Youth
wrestling scene for several years and his career is highlighted as a 5x MAWA Eastern National Medalist. At the
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship Dominic has earned a total of three (3) State Medals including
a fifth place finish in 2014 at 112 lbs. Paar is also a 2x District 11 Junior High medalist finishing as the runner-up in
2014. As a rookie Paar will be in contention for a starting spot on what projects to be a talented Blue Eagle line-up.
Paar will have to compete against and train with a group of lightweights that include fellow freshman #2 Sam Sasso
and 2014 PIAA State Qualifiers Tyson Klump and Travis Smith. Overall the rookie provides head coach Dave
Crowell with even more depth and should have a successful career at Nazareth Area.

#41 Mike Cusick is a difficult freshman to rank with only several appearances in popular Youth Wrestling
tournaments but his results indicate a potential for success at South Fayette as a rookie. Mike significantly
improved from 2013 into 2014. At the 2013 South West Regional Junior High Tournament Mike was the fourth seed
at 122 lbs. but went a disappointing (1-2) in the Tournament. A season later Mike entered the South West Regional
Junior High Tournament as the #2 seed with a season record of (23-0) at 130 lbs. and finished in third place.
Cusick dropped a semifinals decision to eventual Tournament Champion #48 Kyle Homet of Waynesburg Central
(3-2) but picked up a pair of narrow decisions to finish in third place. Mike also improved on his 2013 Pennsylvania
Junior Wrestling performance. In 2013 Cusick was a PJW Area 7 runner-up at 124 lbs. going (2-2) at his first
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship. In 2014 Cusick captured his first PJW Area 7 Championship
and advanced into his second straight PJW State Tournament. Competing at 132 lbs. Mike advanced into the
semifinals, avenging his defeat to #48 Kyle Homet with a (3-2) victory in the quarterfinals, before running into #12
Jake Hendricks and being pinned in (0:35). In the consolation round Mike earned an overtime win before falling to
#32 Neiko Kuntz (3-2) to finish in fourth place. Overall Cusick joins a South Fayette team that was the WPIAL
Team runner-up in 2014 and returns PIAA State fifth place medalist at 132 bs. Mike Carr. Having Carr in the
wrestling room will add to Cusick’s potential for success as a rookie.

It seems as though Council Rock South always has top-level lightweights and 2015 should be no different with
freshman Ben Radnor. Ben was a 2014 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State third place medalist at 102 lbs. in his
second trip to the PJW State Tournament. Radnor was absolutely dominating in his five (5) victories at the 2014
PJW State Tournament picking up three first period falls, a technical-fall, and a major decision. Ben’s only defeat
was in the semifinals to #24 Caleb Morris (7-0). Radnor will be alongside sophomore Riley Palmer who was PIAA
State seventh place medalist as a freshman for Council Rock South. Radnor projects to compete at 106 lbs. for
the Golden Hawks but could see action at 112 lbs. depending on where Riley Palmer ends up. Overall Ben should

Pennsylvania Junior State Champion Josiah Jones is another talented upper weight for the Westmont Hilltop
wrestling program. The Hilltoppers have seen success in recent memory in the upper weights with names such
as PIAA State Champion Zac Bennett (189 lbs.) and PIAA State runner-up Josh Duplin (285 lbs.). Josiah, a 4x
PJW State Medalist, will provide a much-needed boost at either 220 lbs. or 285 lbs. The rookie has a resume that
includes Championships in numerous Tournaments including a MAWA Eastern National title, NHSCA Middle
School National Championship, and a FloNationals Middle School Championship. Additionally Josiah is a 2x
PAWF State Greco-Roman Champion has competed for Team Pennsylvania at the USAW National Duals
multiple times. In 2010 Jones won a PJW State Championship and in 2014 he was a fourth place medalist.
Competing at 212 lbs. in the 2014 PJW State Junior High Tournament Josiah fell twice to Belle Vernon Area’s
Mike Fine to finish in fourth place. Both defeats came in overtime falling (2-1 OT) and (4-2 OT) to Fine who will be
a sophomore this season for the Leopards. Overall Josiah Jones will be facing mostly an older group of
opponents but should still hold his own. Expect to see Jones at 220 lbs. and have a successful career at
Westmont Hilltop where he could make multiple trips to Hershey.

#44 Denton Porter is a 2x District 4 Junior High Champion who hopes to replicate that success in high school at
Wyalusing Area. Porter is a 3x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Qualifier who earned his first career State
medal in 2014. Competing at 132 lbs. Porter advanced into the championship semifinals where he fell to eventual
State Champion #11 Cody Mulligan (3-0). Despite falling again in the consolation semifinals to #32 Neiko Kuntz by
fall in (3:48) Denton stormed back in his next match to finish is fifth. Porter will be joining a Wyalusing Valley
program that includes middleweights Collin Edsell, a 2013 PIAA State Qualifier, and Justin Haley who was a 30match winner in 2014. Both will be juniors this season and help Porter transition to high school competition. Overall
Porter may not have a stacked resume but don’t count him out as a rookie. Denton should fair well in a tough
District 4 and expect him to battle for a spot at States in future seasons.

The third Nazareth Blue Eagle on the list is freshman Mike Madara. Mike will join his older brother and senior Matt
Madara this season and add even more talent to an already loaded lightweight group. In 2014 Madara won his first
career PJW State Championship capturing 82 lbs. in the Junior High Division. Mike also owns Championships at
the MAWA Eastern Nationals, Brute Empire Nationals, and the Dixie Nationals. In 2013 Madara won the District 11
Junior High Tournament and place fourth at the PJW State Championships. As a rookie Madara may be
undersized for 106 lbs. but still will have a shot at the high school varsity team. Mike will compete with 2014 PIAA
State Qualifier Tyson Klump, fellow freshman Dominic Paar, and returning 106 lbs. starter Garrett Snyder in the
Blue Eagle lower weights. Once Madara puts on some mass and stops giving up weight he should be a key asset
to Nazareth’s success in the future. Although fans may not become familiar with the name this season, anything is
possible, and by the tie his career is over Mike may have earned several District 11 Tournament medals.

It’s almost as if the Lane’s never stop for Southern Columbia Area! For the second season in a row there is a
“Lane” family member in the Top Incoming Freshmen with rookie Jaret Lane. Jaret is the younger brother of senior
and Lehigh recruit Kent Lane and cousin to sophomore and 2014 PIAA State runner-up Todd Lane. Like his older
brother and cousin Jaret is a successful wrestler who will help Southern Columbia in their quest for PIAA State
Dual Team Gold in 2015. Jaret enters high school with a long Youth career that includes four (4) trips to the
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship and two (2) State medals. In 2014 Lane was a PJW State
runner-up falling to #45 Mike Madara in the State Finals (2-1). His most impressive accomplishment came in 2014
when Jaret finished in eighth place at the Cadet Nationals competing in Freestyle. The 2x District 4 Junior High
Champion will be a slightly undersized rookie at 106 lbs. this season but regardless Jaret will fair well even against
the top competition. Expect Jaret like older brother Kent to have a successful career at Southern Columbia.

Freshman Joe Klock is a talented lightweight who has experience in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman. Klock
is a 3x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State medalist and a MAWA Eastern National Champion. At the PAWF State
Tournament Joe has captured three (3) Greco-Roman State medals and two (2) Freestyle State medals. At Benton
Area Joe joins a Tiger wrestling program with a history for success. Klock will benefit from junior Alan Diltz who
was a 30-match winner and PIAA State Qualifier in 2014 at 106 lbs. With Diltz likely moving up in weight this
season it opens the door for Klock. Competing at 106 lbs. as a rookie Joe has the potential to make an impact in
District 4 where he was a 2x District 4 Junior High Champion. Overall, there is no doubt Joe Klock has an
impressive Youth resume and only time will tell how that success translates into high school.

– 145 lbs. and brings a long Youth history with him. Homet is a 4x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Tournament
Qualifier and a 1x medalist. His most impressive result came at the 2014 South West Regional Junior High
Tournament where he captured the 130 lbs. Championship. There he was the third seed with a season record of
(20-1) but downed #41 Mike Cusick (3-2) in the semifinals and #32 Neik Kuntz in the finals (5-3). In his fourth trip to
the PJW State Tournament Homet was defeated by Cusick and fell one match shy of earning a State medal. Kyle is
a 3x Cliff Keen Kick Off Classic Medalist, a 3x Ohio Tournament of Champions Medalist, and a 2x MAWA Eastern
National Medalist. Homet will enjoy the company of one of the Nation’s top wrestlers with senior A.C. Headlee as a
workout partner. Overall Homet shows a lot of promise for Waynesburg Central and has shown improvement
throughout his Youth career. Working out with Headlee and facing stiff competition in the WPIAL will only help the
rookie transition into high school competition.

The fourth Big Mac wrestler in the Top 50 is rookie Tim Hritsko. The 2x South West Regional Junior High Medalist
is yet another freshman that will help a Canon-McMillan program that has been hit hard by graduation the last two
seasons. Tim’s older brother Josiah competed for the Big Macs the last four seasons. Hristko has earned
Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Medals in his last two trips to the State Tournament picking up a fifth place finish in
2014. At the 2014 South West Regional Junior High Tournament Tim was seeded third at 115 lbs. with a season
record of (18-3). Tim went (5-1) finishing in third place and picking up four falls along the way. His only defeat came
to #28 Brock Godzin in the semifinals (2-1). Tim has also earned medals at the Cliff Keen National Kick-Off
Tournament and the FloNationals Middle School Tournament. Talent will surround Tim as fellow freshman #14 Ellis
Popiolkowski and sophomore Matt O’block, a 30-match winner as a freshman, both will provide valuable training.
Tim, like older brother Josiah, should have a successful career for the Big Macs.
