For: Anyone interested in a career in men’s Barbering
Love to become a barber but can’t afford to take years to train or just want a new career? Train with the Saks
Academies and study an NVQ Level 2 in Barbering and you could be qualified in as little as 10 weeks! However if
you’re not quite ready to give up the day job enroll on our evening course and you can qualify in 30 weeks. Men’s
hairdressing is a specialist skill in demand with the growth of the men’s hairdressing and barbering industry. The
fast track Barbering NVQ Level 2 for beginners is the step you need to take you to Barbering success. Successful
students are also able to receive the industry renowned ‘Saks Men’s The Knowledge’ subject to criteria.

For: Anyone interested in a career in beauty therapy. No experience necessary
The Saks Academies Fast Track Beauty NVQ Level 2 Course for Beginners has been specifically designed for
those who want to qualify as a beauty therapist. Train full-time with the Fast Track Beauty NVQ Level 2 Course
for Beginners and you can qualify as a beauty therapist in just 11 weeks. If you’re not quite ready to give up the
day job, you can enroll on our weekly evening class and qualify in just 30 weeks.
Designed for complete beginners, the course covers all aspects of beauty therapy and is the fast track route to
obtaining the nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 in beauty therapy. Successful students also receive the industry
renowned Saks Diploma.
THE NVQ COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES:
•The study of Anatomy & Physiology
•Facial treatments, covering all aspects of skin analysis and face, neck and shoulder massage

For: NVQ Level 2 beauty therapists who wish to further their skills and work at an advanced level, or for
students who wish to pursue a career in holistic therapies
The Beauty NVQ Level 3 course will give you competency in specialist massage techniques and holistic therapies.
Train full-time and you could qualify as an NVQ Level 3 beauty therapist in just 10 weeks or simply enroll on our
weekly evening class and qualify in just 26 weeks.
THE NVQ COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES:
• The study of Anatomy & Physiology
•Head, scalp and body massage, including infrared heat treatment, audio sonic and gyratory vibration
equipment to target specific problems
•Indian Head Massage, including Chakra Healing and Marma Point Therapy
•Full body lymph drainage massage and the use of pre-blended oils
•Tanning treatments – Manual and spray application
•Improve the financial effectiveness of the business, including stock systems, target setting and achievable ideas
•Thermal stone therapy The course modules are taught by dedicated NVQ educators and include theory work, written tests, project

ensure you are achieving the learning goals required. You will be provided with all the necessary equipment for

Students must reach the minimum standards required to qualify. On successful completion of the course, you will
obtain NVQ Level 3 in beauty therapy.

UV GEL POLISH COURSE
Gel polishes are the buzz of the industry and are an advanced, yet simple technique that complements manicures
and pedicures. Gel techniques allow salons and spas to offer more women the opportunity to have beautiful nails
every day. We invite you to experience the next Gel Techniques in nail care. Gel techniques set a standard above
excellence and are created with the health of the natural nail in mind. This course offers trusted treatments and
techniques which provide all the luxury that customers have come to expect.

ADVANCED WAXING TECHNIQUES COURSE
This course is an essential skill for any therapist or trained professional looking to develop their waxing skills. You
will learn the techniques of Brazilian and Hollywood waxing. Once you successfully complete the course you
will receive our reputable Saks Diploma which will enable you to obtain public liability insurance to work on the
paying public and also you will enjoy high levels of repeat business.

MAKE UP MASTER COURSE
The Makeup course is suitable for beginners and is specifically designed to give a comprehensive training in
basic make-up. The course is aimed at those who are interested in learning the foundations of make up artistry

receive intensive training in small groups by a current artist already working across the fashion, music and

THERMAL AURICULAR THERAPY
Thermal Auricular Therapy is a specialist vocationally related qualification. The qualification is most suited to
learners who wish to perform ear candling treatments on clients or who wish to progress towards a career as a
complementary therapist or beauty therapist. The course is also suited for professionals within the medical/NHS
sector to assist with non invasive treatments.

SKIN TANNING
The Skin Tanning Course will develop the basic knowledge, skills and competencies that learners need to enable
them to provide skin tanning treatments using the application of Sienna X products for clients. This course will
sustain the interest of learners who aspire to work in the beauty industry and who may progress to a larger
course of learning leading to a certificate qualification. Students will have the opportunity to work with the
reputable Sienna product.

MANICURES AND PEDICURES
Students will be taught the basics in natural nail care and can then build upon what you have learnt to provide
the ultimate in luxury nail services. You will learn 2 of the most popular requested treatments for both mobile
and salon therapists in one course and could even earn up to £35.00 per treatment. The course is ideal for those
thinking of a change of career or looking to add to their skills in the hair, fashion or make up industry.

A1 – ASSESSORS VTCT AWARD
Assessor training is generic and we will help you to apply it to any sector that you are experienced in.
This qualification will enable you to assess in the work place as well as in a classroom environment.
If you want to work in a college we recommend you take this option. You will also need a PTTLS qualification as
a requirement for most colleges before you can start teaching.

they have been hosting workshops and seminars in Italy working alongside Charlie Le Mindu at
London Fashion week, L’O real Colour Trophy, Clothes show live, music videos, fantastic shoots
and many many more.
The course and seminars on offer will not only excite the hairdressers of today but will inspire them within the
creative world of hairdressing. The Saks Art Team have also recently launched ‘Simply Saks The Knowledge’
which has received outstanding feedback from all guests - A classic course which should not be over looked.
The Saks Academies are fantastic venues for training but we do understand that sometimes it’s difficult to get
away from the salon. Salon / college visits can solve this problem –We can visit your team at your salon / college
to conduct training or seminars.
The unique service is designed for groups of over six e.g. college students, a salon visit or international parties.
Tell us your needs we’ll organise an agenda and you don’t have to travel. In salon college visits may run for one
day or more and can be orgainsed as part of an ongoing training programme.

Q. How do I contact the academies?
A. You can contact us by phone or email (see page 2 for details) or via our website, www.saks.co.uk.
Q. Does it matter what age I am?
A. No, we welcome students of all ages (16+) and all levels of experience.
Q. When are the academies open?
A. 6 days a week. Monday - Saturday (we close for 1 week over Christmas).
Q. Can I study part time?
A. Yes, we offer flexible day, evening and weekend classes.
Q. Do I need to bring my own kit?
A. If you are attending a hair course with the Art team please ensure you bring with you your hair/barbering kit with
you. NVQ students will be issued a kit within their first 2 weeks.
Q. Can I bring a camera on my course?
A. Yes, we advise that you bring a camera to record your inspirations throughout your course.
Q. Am I qualified to work in a salon after completing a Beginners course?
A. Upon successful completion you will possess the skills required to enter a salon as a junior stylist or barber.
Over 90% of our graduates have gone on to successful employment in salons.
Q. Will the Beginners course give me a recognised qualification?
A. Yes, you will obtain NVQ and also the industry respected Saks Diploma, on successful completion of the course
and criteria met.
Q. How soon after completing a Beginners course would I be in a position to open my own salon?
A. This very much depends on the individual. Saks Management courses provide comprehensive business

Q. Do I need to bring my own model?
A. At Saks we care passionately that your training is delivered in the most practical, commercially respected environment. It is vital that your training is not impaired by the restriction of models therefore many of our courses
include Saks training heads. In such cases, these training heads are yours to take home with you.
Q. How do I pay for the course?
A. A 20% registration fee is applicable on all NVQ bookings. Any remaining fees are to be paid 6 weeks prior to the
course start date. Saks do offer installment plans in some cases. For Art Team courses. This must be paid in full
