Your Recommended Itinerary...
Day 1, - Fly from the UK to Bali
Today depart London Heathrow on an overnight flight to Hong Kong.
Accommodation: Overnight flight.
Meals: On-board flight.
Day 2, - Arrival in Bali
You’ll arrive this morning into Hong Kong and connect with an onward flight to
Denpasar, Bali’s thriving capital. At the airport in Denpasar, proceed to the immigration and customs area where you will be welcomed by a laterallife representative
who will take your passports and immigration arrival cards. The staff will then escort
you directly to the luggage belts past all the queues. Whilst you await your bags, our
reps will process your arrival formalities and then return to you in the luggage area,
escort you through customs and transfer you to Villa Asmara for a 4 night stay. Journey time is estimated at 1 hour.
Enjoy panoramic Indian Ocean views from your luxurious villa. You may also like to
visit the sacred site of Uluwatu Temple, head to the beaches for a leisurely stroll,
dine-out in fashionable Seminyak and unwind for a few days before the ‘adventure’
begins.
Notes: Fast-track visa-on-arrival is included.
Accommodation: Villa Asmara Canggu.
Meals: None.
Day 3-5, - At leisure
The next few days are at your leisure to enjoy some relaxed family time and the resort facilities.
If you are feeling more active, excursions can be arranged to go walking and cycling
through the volcanic highland trails around Mount Batur and snorkelling boat trips.
Additionally on the Bali ‘Ordinary Living’ tour you can experience local life in Tunjuk
Village and learn about the Balinese compound, visit the local school, try out your
farming skills by cultivating the land and planting rice.
Accommodation: Villa Asmara Canggu.
Meals: None.
Day 6, - Journey to Ubud
Depart this morning around 9am on a private transfer to Ubud, Bali’s spiritual, cultural and artistic heartland, located around 1.5 hours drive away. En route, stop in Belayu village for a Blessing at the home of a local ’Royal’ family where the temple is so
old no one is aware of its age. The village itself dates back to 1649 and sees very few
tourists. The ceremony is a short ritual in which all Balinese participate on a regular
basis to help bring luck and protection to themselves and their family. There is no
cost for this, just a donation to the Villa Mangku (priest) which will be used by the
whole village. A traditional lunch is also included.
This afternoon, we suggest that you perhaps enjoy a massage at the hotel Spa
and relax by the pool. If you feel like going for a wander, take the shuttle into
laidback Ubud to walk around and enjoy a drink at the Lotus Café which has a setting in a 200 year old temple. Ubud offers some of Bali’s finest local arts and craft
traditions and is worth a wander to see the jewellery, woodcraft, local paintings
and textiles.
Accommodation: Royal Pita Maha, Deluxe Pool Villa.
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
Day 7, - Pure Ubud - Cycling, Paddy Fields & Bird Park
After breakfast at the hotel, set off on an early morning cycle ride through the
small hamlets and rice paddy fields (mostly downhill but a great way to see Bali).
Enjoy the local scenery and stop at Sangeh Monkey Forest to meet its cheeky inhabitants. After lunch (included), continue by car to Bali Bird & Reptile Park where
you’ll find a sanctuary containing almost 1,000 birds and 250 different species the finest collection of birds from Indonesia, Africa and South America.

Day 8, - Elephant Safari

your way through the plantations and along the river, to the small village of Buanga. Visit the village temple before stopping at the home of a local farmer for a
fresh coconut juice. Continue by elephant through rice paddies and jungle and
reach the Elephant Camp in the late afternoon. A wonderful meal is served at the

Check-out early this morning and transfer to Denpasar Airport for your flight to
Labuan Bajo, the main town on Flores Island. On arrival, you are welcomed and
transferred to the harbour to board your own private boat the MV Nusa Tara for a
two night gentle cruise around the calm island waters.
Lunch will be served on boarding and while you dine with the breeze on the open
deck, set sail towards Rinca Island. A park ranger will guide you as you track
through typical dry forest on Rinca island and observe the mix of vegetation in
Komodo National Park. Deer, buffalo, pigs, wild boar and long tail-macaque feed
on various leaves, fruit, flowers, roots and grasses found in the park. Komodo
dragons are the top predator and all animals in the park are potential prey for the
largest monitor lizard in the world. This afternoon sail to Komodo Island. Overnight and dinner on board.
Note: Private cruise on Mv. Nusa Tara. Full board meals & overnight on boat in 3

Accommodation: MV Nusa Tara, (Private Motor-Boat).
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 11, - Komodo Island & Pink Beach
After breakfast on-board, head ashore for a hike around Komodo Island to observe the animals and birdlife. Lunch will be served when you return to the boat
and sail onwards to Pink Beach. Water activities are offered at Pink Beach to enjoy the clear water and white sandy coastline. Snorkelling and diving (diving has
an additional local cost) are recommended for coral and observing huge schools
of fish. Dinner and overnight on-board.
Accommodation: MV Nusa Tara, (Private Motor-Boat).
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 12, - Journey to Bali
Breakfast on board the boat. Return this morning to Labuan Bajo on Flores Island
and board a direct flight to Bali where you spend the night at the delightful Jimbaran Puri Bali, which is conveniently located close to the airport as well as facing
one of Bali’s finest beaches.
Accommodation: Jimbaran Puri Bali, Pool Villa.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 13, - Journey to Moyo Island
This morning you will be transferred back to the airport in Denpasar for a flight to
Moyo Island. Providing the weather is good, you’ll land on the water’s edge and
taxi to the hotel’s pier before checking in to your luxurious tented accommodation
for a 3 night stay.
Amanwana is unique and Moyo Island is hardly touched by tourism with beautiful
golden sand beaches, a gentle reef providing great snorkelling and diving opportunities, inland walks to waterfalls and tiny villages. All this combined with the
excellent and genuine service provided by the staff at Amanwana. The only challenge you face here is not wanting to leave!
Accommodation: Amanwana, Jungle Tents.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 14-15, - Moyo Island
Days at leisure at Amanwana. A variety of fish and coral life can be found in
Amanwana Bay, the marine reserve in front of the camp. Snorkel from the
Amanwana jetty next to the Boardwalk, or from the beach in front of the tents.
‘Turtle Street’ is where the marine amphibians are regularly spotted. Guided night
snorkelling is an exciting option and during the day, Amanwana’s beach boys will
also provide guided tours of the local reefs.
Accommodation: Amanwana, Jungle Tents.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 16, - Journey to Yogyakarta
This morning, you will be transferred by speedboat to Sumbawa Besar to fly to
Denpasar. In Denpasar, we will arrange for a guide to meet you and drive you to
a local restaurant for lunch (food not included) and then drop you back at
Denpasar for an onward flight to Yogyakarta.
On arrival in Yogyakarta, a representative of Amanjiwo will welcome and transfer
you to this magical hotel overlooking the temple complex of Borobudur (around
90 minutes drive). Around Yogyakarta, its plateaus and volcanos offer glimpses
into what life was previously like in centuries past. It is home to one of the great
Kingdoms that spread right across South East Asia. You will have an opportunity
to explore the amazing Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the
world, the incredible Hindu Prambanan Temples and the culture of the people
living here.

Village cycle tour
Temple of Kedu Valley
Morning market tour of Borobudur and Muntilan
Temple of Prambanan valley
Accommodation: Amanjiwo, Dalem Jiwo Suite.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 17, - Sunrise over Borobudur
Rise early for a guided sunrise visit to the ‘cosmic mandala’ of Borobudur, both an
intellectual path to Enlightenment and a sacred mountain of an ineffable spiritual
energy. It needs truly to be understood before it is felt. Your local guide will help
you to discover its secrets, and will bring its bas-reliefs to life. This great Buddhist
shrine has 10 levels (at the moment you can go up to level 6) to pronounce the
sacred number of Buddhist rituals and moral stories beautifully sculptured on its
walls and balustrades. Return to the hotel for a late breakfast and the remainder
of the day at leisure.
Note: tours are included at Amanjiwo. The excursions listed are merely recommendations but we also recommend a morning market tour of Borobudur and
Muntilan. Like in any country, to really understand the pulse of a place you must
first go to the heart with a visit to the local markets, in this case Pasar Muntilan &
Pasar Borobudur, only a stone’s throw away from Amanjiwo. You will not find
anything touristy there, just the aromas, colours and sound of real country life.
Accommodation: Amanjiwo, Dalem Jiwo Suite.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 18, - Prambanan Valley or Village Cycling
Nowhere in Indonesia is there such a concentration of temples as in the Prambanan Valley near the city of Yogyakarta. Surrounded by a backdrop of mountains, the most imposing of which is the smoking Merapi volcano, these temples
all stem from the Central Classical Javanese period between the 8th and 10th
centuries. They are within easy reach of each other and are surrounded by rice
fields and traditional villages.
Alternatively, spend the morning exploring the local village by bicycle to experience the real life of Central Java. Close by, you can explore Nampan village
where they make homemade tofu. This process involves several steps from soaking and crushing the Soya bean, to pressing the final product ready for market.
Continue on and watch the craftsmen of Nglipoh village throwing traditional pottery in all shapes and sizes which is used in households all over Java. During this
tour, experience first-hand how the Javanese people live and interact with their
local environment and witness age old skills, famous in this part of Indonesia.
Accommodation: Amanjiwo, Dalem Jiwo Suite.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 19, - Journey to Mount Bromo
Leave Amanjiwo at 05:30am and drive to the train station in Jogyakarta (transfer
provided by Amanjiwo with driver only). Take the Sancaka morning train
(Executive Class) to Surabaya. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful view of the
landscape and rice fields. Upon arrival in Surabaya (at around 12:30pm), meet
your guide and transfer to Mount Bromo (around 3 hours) passing terraced rice
and sugar cane fields and stop at Pasuruan to view the colourful fishing village
and salt refinery. Check in at Java Banana Hotel for two nights.
Accommodation: Java Banana, Deluxe Room.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 20, - Sunrise over Mount Bromo
At 4 am you are woken to begin a sunrise visit to Mount Bromo. The tour is conducted through a transfer to Cemara Lawang village, then ride ponies and descend the steep slope of Mount Tengger, crossing the sea-of-sand and climbing up
245 steps to reach the awesome rim of the crater where you await the sunrise
over the volcanoes and surrounding valley. The breath-taking views of Mt. Bromo
and its surroundings can be seen from the vantage point (subject to weather).
Return to your hotel for breakfast and time to freshen up. Spend the afternoon
exploring more of the local villages by bicycle.
Accommodation: Java Banana, Deluxe Room.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 21, - Return to Surabaya
After breakfast today, you are transferred 3 hours overland back to Surabaya for
an overnight stay at the JW Marriott prior to beginning your jungle expedition to
Borneo.
Accommodation: JW Marriott, Deluxe Premium Rooms.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 22, - Journey to Borneo
After an early breakfast, you are transferred to the airport in Surabaya where
you’ll board a flight to Pangkalan Bun in Borneo (Indonesian side).
Here you’ll be welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to the harbour where
you’ll board a traditional riverboat (private), known locally as a Klotok for a gentle
2 hour cruise along the Kumai River to Rimba Lodge, your home for the next 3
nights. As you leave Pangkalan Bun, the river narrows and you’ll experience a truly remote river and jungle environment where you’ll hear the bird life, see proboscis monkeys swinging from nearby trees and of course looking out for the incredi-
ble orang-utans which are found in this region.
Rimba is a simple lodge with rustic air-conditioned cabins on the banks of the
Sekonyer river with boardwalk trails to explore the dawn and dusk birdlife and you
may also see gibbons and crocodiles. This is the ideal base to explore the orangutan rehabilitation and conservation centres in Tanjung Puting National Park. Note
lunch and dinner are generally served on the Klotok riverboat.
Accommodation: Rimba Lodge, Emerald Cabins.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.
Day 23, - Orang-utans at Camp Leaky
Breakfast at the lodge then cruise 1 hour to Pondok Tanggui to observe feeding
time of the orang-utans. This is quite the spectacle as the call of the rangers will
invite the arrival of both small baby and huge male orang-utans from the rainforest
canopy trails - all hungry for a fresh supply of bananas.
Continue to Camp Leaky a further 2 hours away and watch the wild and semi-wild
orang-utans where in addition you are likely to see gibbon, wild boar and bird life.
This afternoon return to the lodge. In the evening, enjoy ‘dinner under the fire flies’
which although sounding less-than-pleasant, is a unique experience during which
the harmless (and non-irritating) fire-flies hover in the air above the boat, creating a
small illumination by which to enjoy your dinner in the jungle.
Accommodation: Rimba Lodge, Emerald Cabins.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 24, - Rehabilitation & Conservation
After breakfast at the lodge, set off by Klotok to the Pesalat area and learn about
the efforts being made in the rehabilitation of the wildlife, reforestation and conservation efforts to reintroduce the orang-utans to the rainforest, which is particularly
important to the orang-utan babies.
Later cruise onwards to Natai Lengkuas and observe the fascinating proboscis monkeys then return to the lodge for a rest. A simple village massage can be arranged
on your request on-board the Klotok, which is provided by an elderly village woman
who will arrive by dug-out canoe.
Note: Natai Lengkuas does sometimes close to the public and if this occurs, a second visit to Camp Leaky or alternatively a hike to Pesalat will be offered.
Accommodation: Rimba Lodge, Emerald Cabins.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 25, - Journey to Jakarta
Enjoy a leisurely start to the day then return by Klotok to the airport in Pankalan
Bun for an afternoon flight to Jakarta. On arrival you will be transferred to the Man-
darin Oriental Hotel for an overnight stay.
Accommodation: Mandarin Oriental, Superior Rooms.
Meals: Breakfast.
Day 26, - Journey to the UK
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up at around 11.30am and taken
to a local restaurant for lunch. This afternoon, your guide will show you around
Indonesia’s capital. Highlights include the National Museum, passing the Presidential Palace, Glodok China Town, Sunda Kelapa Old Harbour and Fatahillah
Square.
Later this afternoon, you will be dropped at the airport in Jakarta for your overnight flight to London.
Accommodation: Overnight flight.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & meals on-board flight.
