Believe Renewal Retreat It has never been more important to know what you believe. Many Christians are uncertain about what they believe and why. Meanwhile, most of the basic beliefs of the Christian faith are actively challenged or outright denied at this very moment in history, right here where we live. Believe is a groundbreaking Bible-reading experience that will anchor every member of your family in the core teachings of Scripture: the 10 key beliefs, 10 key practices, and 10 key virtues of a Christian. Learn with your whole family—and your whole church—how to think, act, and be more like Jesus. Grounded in carefully selected Scripture, Believe, NIV is a unique spiritual growth experience that takes you on a journey to think, act, and be more like Jesus. General editor and pastor Randy Frazee walks you through the ten key Beliefs of the Christian faith, the ten key Practices of a Jesusfollower, and the ten key virtues that characterize someone who is becoming more like Jesus. Every believer needs to ask these three questions: WHAT DO I BELIEVE? WHAT SHOULD I DO? WHO AM I BECOMING? Each chapter uses short topical passages from the New International Version to help you live the story of the Bible. As you journey through this book, whether in a group or on your own, one simple truth will become undeniably clear: what you believe drives everything. Using this edition of Believe, church families around the globe can now embrace a full ministry year through worship services, small group studies, and family activities. Every member of Trinity Church is invited to participate in three ways: 1. Sunday Worship Message Series: September 13 – November 15. 2. Small Group: Sundays Sept. 13–Nov. 15, 11am -12pm, Pastor’s Study; -or- Wednesdays Sept. 16–Nov. 18 6:30pm-7:30pm Pastor’s Study. 3. At Home: Read the Believe Bible for personal devotions, with your spouse, and/or children. We have a rare opportunity. I would like you to be part of it. TRC could very well be one of the exceptional churches that experiences renewed life. While most congregations in America are experiencing plateau and decline, Trinity has been growing in maturity, ministry, and numbers. Right now we have right before us tremendous opportunities. Now is the time to “lean into” them. Because of this, the Elder Board and Consistory has decided to employ the services of Church health and growth coach Daryl Cripe. Daryl has successfully coached churches nation-wide, including many in West Michigan, including some Reformed congregations. Daryl is recommended by the Great Lakes Regional Synod of the RCA. Daryl does not come with a stock formula, or a one-size-fits-all approach. His process begins with an intensive, three-day retreat designed to help us all understand the unique character of our congregation. Fifteen hard-working volunteer representatives will gather for a total of 25 hours on October 10, 11, and 12. We are still looking for four more volunteer representatives for this retreat. Let Pastor Randy know if you’d like to be one of them. The results of that retreat will direct us toward one or two ministry focuses which will launch right after the retreat. Participation in the retreat does not obligate you to participate in the resulting ministry initiatives, but the initiatives are more important than the retreat. Daryl charges a fee for his services, but the Muskegon Classis has offered us a grant which will cover 80% of the cost. This is yet another in a series of great opportunities God has given us to be a renewed congregation. Please consider joining the retreat. If you can’t participate, please pray for those who do.
