Ben Lomond Bunkhouse SILVER Things to do in the area Ben Lomond Bunkhouse is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and sits on the east side of Loch Lomond by Rowardennan, right beside the West Highland Way. It is a great base for walking clubs or large groups of friends, and is ideally located for bagging Ben Lomond, for exploring the Trossachs and Arrochar Alps, as an overnight stop-off when tackling the longdistance trail or simply for enjoying some time in peaceful surroundings. Ben Lomond (974m) is the most southerly Munro and one of the most popular due to its accessible location. The summit offers fantastic views across much of central Scotland. Price includes bed linen and tea/coffee West Highland Way Guided walks Cycling This long-distance route runs from Milngavie to Fort William (96 miles) and takes in some spectacular Highland scenery along the way. The section by Ben Lomond involves a few forest tracks but mostly follows the lochside path. The rangers offer a variety of guided walks on the estate. They can be pre-booked for groups and will talk about the wildlife, history and archaeology, as well as explain the vital conservation work carried out by the Trust. Although the terrain on the east side of Loch Lomond is tough for biking, cycles may be taken on the waterbus to the west shore, where there are several excellent off-road cycle routes. Pine martens, red squirrels, ptarmigan and black grouse are all regularly seen in the area, as well as a wealth of other wildlife species.
