EnviroAg Australia Integrated Live Export Facility (ILEF) “Livingstone Valley”, Livingstone NT 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 1 EnviroAg Australia The Location • The proposed ILEF is located on 2658 Stuart Hwy, Livingstone NT. • Approx. 35km SSE of Darwin. • 6km East of Berry Springs. • Next to existing “Santavan” Live Export Facility 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 2 EnviroAg Australia The ILEF Site The ILEF will include the following infrastructure: • Care takers house; • Commodity and Fodder storage shed; • Feed mill; • Freshwater storage (turkeys nest and tanks); for capture and storage of roof runoff and storage of ground water for stock water supply; • Pre-Export Quarantine (PEQ) 3,000 SCU holding yard (Average 3;000SCU; 12,000 SCU Stage 1 “peak” short term holding capacity); • Livestock truck washing facility; • Irrigation area for treated waste water reuse and hay / fodder production; and • 2,000 SCU (Short term) feedlot; for holding stock for longer than 30 days. SCU – Standard Cattle Unit is a 600kg animal 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 3 EnviroAg Australia Site Layout 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 4 EnviroAg Australia Water Management • The proposed ILEF will have access to water from a deep groundwater bore; • Local bores are at 20-45m in near surface aquifer • 2nd aquifer at 60-85m • Bore screen is in 2nd aquifer and 3rd deep aquifer at 100-114m • Clean water storage on site will consist of rainwater tanks and turkeys nest Storages. • The site will not discharge water into the local waterways. • Clean water diversions will be installed to reduce amounts of dirty water generated onsite. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 5 EnviroAg Australia Waste Management • All wastewater is captured and treated on site. • • • Drains Sediment basin Ponds • Treated water from the facility will be used to irrigate pasture and fodder crops. • All manure composted on site (dry season) and used onsite or sold for off site usage. • Composted manure is great for building better soils. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 6 EnviroAg Australia Odour Management • Odour Assessment will determine buffer distances in accordance with National guidelines • Site will be operated under best management practices with mitigation measures implemented to reduce risk of odour. • • • • 16th July 2015 Dust suppression Regular cleaning Clean out prior to wet season Installation of roof structures over the PEQ pens to reduce moisture and odour Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 7 EnviroAg Australia Vegetation Management • • • • • Vegetation assessment undertaken by EcOz Environmental Consultants, NT. The site has a history of disturbance. Already cleared for cultivation and fodder production – production will be improved. Current weed problem will be brought under control. Tree plantings to create buffers. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 8 EnviroAg Australia Dust and Noise Management • • • • • 16th July 2015 Dust suppression sprays will be installed in the pens to “lay” dust Roads will be designed and maintained to ensure minimum dust generation. Cattle are social animals, if they are fed, watered and with their own kind they make almost no noise. Noise from trucks and machinery on the site will be similar to those of other rural operations in the area. Buffers will mitigate noise from facilities and truck movements. Inward bound trucks/road trains • Heavy Vehicle access off Stuart Hwy using existing AA Co heavy vehicle access to improve public safety. • Road trains deliver stock to the facility up to 8 days prior to shipment. • Road trains move stock from PEQ to docks at Darwin harbour for shipping. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited Tightly scheduled Outward bound road trains for ship stock delivery 10 EnviroAg Australia Heritage • Application with the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority (AAPA) lodged. • AAPA are currently undertaking their assessment. • Currently liaising with AAPA. • No Items of National Heritage are located on the site; some WWII infrastructure on neighbouring lands. 16th July 2015 Source: http://www.travelnt.com/ Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 11 EnviroAg Australia Economic Benefits • Capital cost of the development is approximately $12 million. • Life of the development greater than 40 years. • Each year Wellard’s buy $50 million worth of livestock from within the NT for export. • Wellard’s spend $ 17 million on other services in the region (transport, fodder, vet services). • Local employment at facilities and rural contractors. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 12 EnviroAg Australia Amenity • The PEQ yard & feedlot have been positioned so that they will not be readily visible Stuart Hwy • Fodder paddocks will be agricultural • Water storage ring tanks, water tanks, irrigation systems, feed mill and feed storage sheds will be visible from the road. These infrastructure are normal within an agricultural production area. • Infrastructure is over 350m from edge of road reserve. • Lateral move irrigator and fodder paddocks between Highway and facilities • Tree lines / buffers placed around facilities 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 13 EnviroAg Australia Employment • ILEF Staff requirements: o Export Facility will require 3 – 4 permanent staff and up to 10 casuals o Feedlot Facility 2 – 3 workers o Feedmill 3 – 6 workers o Contract farmers 2 workers o Total workforce is expected to be >20 at full development. • Ancillary services workforce would increase for services such as transport , veterinary, rural merchandise and construction. • Operations more sustainable than Fly In Fly Out mining operations. 16th July 2015 Wellard Rural Exports Pty Limited / EnviroAg Australia Pty Limited 14
