AWA #4 7 Arabian Wings was founded by Najlaa Felemban and Mohamed Bahrawi in Saudi Arabia. It is regarded as a nonProfit art organization, officially registered in the Kingdom. It cannot be described as commercial gallery. Since its foundation in 2006, it has been keen on achieving the goals of its strategy in visual arts. The name of the company was tailored to exhibit the mission for which it was created and the efforts it makes to expand in the Middle-East as well as expanding the outreach of Arab artists locally and internationally. In recent years, Arabian Wings has succeeded in scoring its goals and asserting the course it is leading to become, hence, an art benchmark for Middle-East and a supporter of contemporary culture. Through its continuous efforts, Arabian Wings has set to prove its viability in the field through its participation in many festivals and art workshops in addition to curating seminars and conferences. It has sponsored artist residencies and produced art books. In addition to that, Arabian Wings has played a pivotal role in advancing the artistic and cultural knowledge for Arab artists by organizing different competitions in contemporary art, seeking thereby expanding their art horizon, to become an organization that markets and sponsors visual arts and presents young Arab and Saudi talents through sponsoring their participations in constructive projects. Arabian Wings is proud of the roots it has planted in Saudi Arabia and aspires perpetually to a brighter future through reaching new goals and breaking new records. As a strong supporter of visual arts in the whole Arab world since it is keen on being part of international events such as art fairs, biennales, competitions and residencies, thereby attempting to stir a prosperous art market. Arabian Wings seeks to have its own main participations in cultural development in the art market in the Middle-East through diverse projects, which it presents like art residencies in Saudi Arabia and sponsoring artists in international residencies. Through this, it will be able to bridge the gap between Arab and international artists. It also curates different art competitions to develop art skills for artists in the region. Arabian Wings plays a key role in the educational process since it is well aware of the importance of preparing an environment suited to develop art skills, which leads to increasing the number of Saudi and Arab artists and their productivity, creating thereby an art market that is more competitive attracting more purchasers from art collectors locally and internationally through establishing yardsticks with local values roots. Arabian Wings aspires to pursue its professional method inside and outside the company to ensure high-level performance from its artists and employees as well as establishing loyalty with its counterparts. AWA #4 #2 8 AWA #4 #2 www.arabian-wing s.com 9 Arabian Wings started in 2006 but did not have its own art space since its strategy hinged primarily on expansion and growth in the Arab world by bringing Arab artists under its “wings”. Indeed, it succeeded over the years in asserting its presence through its exhibitions and art workshops that covered many Arab countries, not to mention the art awards that it presents in the field of visual arts. At a point in time, Arabian Wings was in dire need to find its own art space through which it can pursue its strategies in supporting visual arts and to become a reference for those who search for it and for hosting exhibitions for the various artworks of its artists. Such a gallery will also be a gateway through which communication will be established with local and international parties. It will be a landmark to which purchasers will come to find visual arts masterpieces they are looking for. TheGallery, property of Arabian Wings, is one of the biggest gallery halls in Saudi Arabia in terms of capacity to house a large number of artworks and visitors. Based in Jeddah city and located at AlFurusya yacht club. It is situated on an area of 1000 square meters with an 8-meter height, We pride ourselves with the latest industry standard security equipment as used in international museums. AWA #4 18 Najlaa Felemban was born in Makkah in Saudi Arabia, where she studied Arabic linguistics, specialized in grammar. Her father, Abdurrahman may Allah bless his soul, was her first visual arts teacher since he was a calligraphist and her idol in this regard. In the beginning of the 90’s, she took the plunge into the world of visual arts; she attended several art training sessions to learn drawing and sculptures by using a plethora of ores. She dug deeper into the arena of contemporary arts through its presence in many seminars and art conference, through visiting museums and international exhibitions and exploring art books. In 2006, she founded Arabian Wings with her husband, Eng. Likewise, she has proved serious commitment in supporting rising artists in the Kingdom and she is a very well received artist and curator as well as an author and supporter for Arab artists and fine arts in the region. AWA #4 19 Saud Mahjoob Ahmad AL Ahmadi Saudi Arabia, B. 1957 Saudi Arabia, B. 1971 Our full potential is often stimulated by tragedy and grief. Similarly, without pressure or intense heat on earth, there would be no volcanoes nor would metal ever form. We see this parallel with Saud Mahjoob. Born in Mecca he grew up in Jeddah on the coast. It was his family who influenced his love of photography. His father read endless books on photography and calligraphy. His brother constantly documented family occasions with photographs. A weekly family outing to the cinema inspired his love of film. The untimely death of his father meant he was brought up by brothers and uncles. His education suffered and he lost direction to his life. Overwhelmed with sadness, he became very sensitive. One teacher hit him when he wrote with his left hand, another ripped up his notebook because he doodled in it. These experiences affected him profoundly. He stopped drawing and suffered much internal pain. Completing his studies he specialized in environmental architecture. Work as a photographer in international airport projects was fulfilling and liberated him from his silence. He took photos of everything and was considered one of the best photographers the country had ever known. His skill was to bring beauty to and inspire feelings from inanimate objects. In effect, Mahjoob brought neglected social issues to society’s attention. Many of his works were dark in colour and nature and often offered a personal view. His talent is now renowned around the world and is omnipresent on walls and fountains in Jeddah which have been designed by him. The wonderful environment he grew up in fashioned his vision and artistic reference to express his feelings in his works through graphic tools. Artist Ahmad Al-Ahmadi son of the kindest city Taiba (Al-Medina) in which he graduated from its university. He worked in training but his enthusiasm about art was the force that drove him to participate in one of the oldest art community in Saudi Arabia; Al_Medina group for arts. In his works we can see the style he presents from materials being used and inventive touch; you can almost feel and read the artworks especially with the unusual shifts outside the frames. Once in one of his works he used environmental materials and did recycling in layers to build pyramid showing different stages of geological levels for rocky ground. Ahmad’s work varies from the search of privacy, identity and heritage. Moreover, his current graphic work represents amazing visual beauty mixed with traditions from the surroundings. However, he is still in search of what’s new in the present or maybe strange in the future. He is always keen to continue in each work to open new door in the world of arts. Heba Abed Ali Al-Hassan Saudi Arabia, B. 1983 Saudi Arabia, B. 1984 The art of Heba Abed is concerned with social impairments experienced within our modern day society, in specific the overlooked elements that have been lost along the way. Abed resembles the loss of these elements to the human disease ‘Scotoma’. Scotoma is a biological impairment in one’s vision whereby an alteration occurs to the normal field of sight. A dark spot appears that is surrounded by a field of normal vision or relatively well preserved vision. This disease is usually given the name ‘blind spot’ and Abed uses this severe health impairment to question elements and morals which are overlooked in her society and the region as a whole. Abed is mostly concerned with the loss of the legacy of her native Arabic language and how it has been overshadowed by the more commonly used ‘Franco’ Arabic. The artist expresses her grief of the way society has mimicked Roman languages and lettering which in turn has weakened the language instead of taking pride in its origins and strengthening it. Abed is also keen on highlighting the neglected feminist arguments and plea for rights in her society. She constructs an object of four walls then manipulates it and plays with optical illusion to deliver her message. One is made to believe the object is a whole cube, however upon slight movement it is clear to see that the front wall is cut to form a door silhouette which invites the viewer in and entrapping them in their own social discrepancies. Heba Abed was born in Jeddah in 1983 where she now lives and works. She received her Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the King Abdul Aziz University and now works as a visual arts manager in NSA at the Abdul Lateef Jameel Company. Abed has earned first place honors at the Fine Arts Competition of Saudi Arabian Universities in the third Scientific Research Conference in 2012. Her works were part of Rizhoma- a collective of works by Saudi artists by Edge of Arabia at the Venice Biennale in 2013. She has shown in group exhibitions in Jeddah, Khobar and Kuwait. If sculpture has its own principles and theoretical terms, then artist Ali Al-Hassan has much more since he developed skills. Even though he knows the basics of this field, sculpture, he’s always re-introducing himself to the updates. His work compass at all times pointing to what is new and towards new discoveries. Ali began his passion for sculpting in his early stage of life; he had, and still has, amazing memories from his childhood. He learnt skills and expertise working with his grandfather who was a carpenter. Shortly after he lost his father, he graduated and specialized in agricultural sciences and gained more experiences working as technical supervisor and designer in contracting company. His works are from elastic materials to modify or make changes to reach the best objective. AWA #4 20 AWA #4 21 Talal Al Tukhaes Khaled Bin Afif Saudi Arabia, B. 1982 Saudi Arabia, B. 1968 At his tender age Talal Al-tokhais was fascinated by colors and drawings. He was born and raised in Dawadmi , town in Riyadh province, and between three different cities his ambitions and wishes were separated for the young artist. However, he had to leave this talent because he was forced to study computer science to secure respected job; which he eventually worked in Ha’il region in training. He returned back to Dawadmi to start his adventure, this city which gave its mountains and rocks for their people to learn how to sculpt amazing works. Talal found the best environment to guide him; his uncle Ali Al-tokhais, also famous in sculpting, for five years he worked as a trainee at his uncle’s then he left to find his own way and participate in local and international events and galleries. His works are with an exceptional and modern touch put into novel templates to express his emotions mixed with experience. Talal with his modest experience tried something new with metals, apart from rocks and stones, to construct something original that might be the beginning of new chapter in his career…. he has an artistic resume which is like a picture worth watching over and over. He was born and raised in Makkah and his father’s travelling stories that brought with him to the holy city from one of the nearest countries left an adventure impression and the love of discovery in Khalid’s imagination. From his childhood he always wanted to learn engineering in aviation, liked music, played instruments, poetry, he also was fascinated about reading and writing not to mention photography and his first camera used to capture views for drawings. He organized and participated in electrical and mechanical programs alongside television and media programs and from the media world he found himself in photography. The variation in work and the experience for Khalid didn’t distract him; if anything it opened many doors for innovation. His work always has specific points, goals and thoughtful meanings expressed in visual aids that help the audience receive and comprehend the messages. Khalid’s supporters and fans are always waiting for his works because of the mystery and the unknown impression he left on them; that’s the beauty of his artworks. Moreover, he’s always good listener to comments and feedback because he believes that the artist without the guidance of his society and followers will never progress. Sara Al Sudairy Hamad Al Saab Saudi Arabia, B. 1969 Kuwait, B. 1972 In her journey looking how to refine her character and her passion about art she made so many stops with so many questions but she didn’t wait for an answer except one; drawing. The only thing will give her internal peace and satisfaction. “I draw what I feel not only what I see or observe” Those are words of the artist Sara Al Sudairy who is fine set between femininity and poetry. She has a unique taste in her artwork, especially in collages, which she acquired from her experiences in life; thus expressing her works in dark colors and mysterious manner. Initially, her journey started when she travelled to the United States of America (USA) and visited the art museum and she was fascinated by the modern work. She discovered and cultivated many relationships with different, multi-cultural and yet open society; that’s why she felt like free bird and the sky is the limit. She decided to carry her pencil and notebook to write down every little detail, her feelings and even trying to analyze her thoughts and situations she encountered. Sara started her career in the hospital (she has story for that) with more than one small piece of paper, they are all full of drawings with different colors and emotions. She has shown her work extensively with black and grey colors due to the fact that she doesn’t like cheerful colors. However, she still knows how to convey her opinions in her drawings with dark colors. Hamad Al Saab was born in 1972 and raised in Kuwait. Over the course of his education, he acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and International Organization Behaviour from Washington DC in 1999. Hamad is a Pop Artist who enjoys presenting the Arab culture and history through his contemporary vision. His first exhibition was in Kuwait in 2006, collaborating with other artists, presenting the first collection of the Arab celebrities that lead him to the international art journey and relationship with many international art appreciators. Al Saab is a creative consultant in publishing, creative media industry, events, and interior design consultation reflecting his creative approach and know how to be implemented in his private and commercial projects. AWA #4 22 AWA #4 23 Itab Al AL sheikh Ahmed Hussein Al-Ghamdi Saudi Arabia, B. 1970 Saudi Arabia, B. 1968 It is said that time never stops and the moment that has gone can never return. It is said that memories are but shadows fading behind walls of years, turning into melodies in the ether and are hard to retrieve. This reality diminishes before the lenses of the creative photographer Itab Al AL sheikh, for time to her is just an illusion that can be tricked by a camera shot with her own unique imprint, stopping its course even if for a moment. When the present moment seems to be an imposed reality with an unchangeable course, it is amazing what a picture by Itab can realize. It shakes the foundations of reality and rearranges it through an artistic touch that often surpasses the traditional rules and principles. The plastic arts painter Ahmed Hussein Al-Ghamdi adopts a plastic knowledge of the postures of the plastic diagnosis in the abstract system, with a kind of instinct that raises the picture from the pure abstraction’s depth. That makes his plastic material in a case of contrasting plastic matching, by which he bypasses the limits of common traditional abstraction to abstract plastic material that inquires the topic’s unity. So the addressing in the works of the artist is based on the rescuer vision in meditating the face in terms of merging the silence in building shape and color. His diagnostic abstract plastic image has structural and semantic function which is consistent with obsessions and pain experience. That is indicated by the black-white game in the new formations of the artist Ahmed. The thing that became the base of his new abstract physical experience is described as a trend toward removing the differences among different colors except black and white. The diligence and plastic innovation are clear shown through the union usage of contrast colors he employs in high-technologies, unfamiliar selective style and complete featured structural arrangement, and that is reflected in many meanings, intentions and connotations. The personal and abstract icons vary, and the game of black and white increases the sharpness of paradox, which requests logical explanation of these chromatic plastic and semiotic manifestations that are loaded with suggestions, expressions, meanings and connotations in unlimited space. It is a subjective project linked to artistic technique, and it is considered as a deep and qualitative and creative structure in which his vision of setting the shapes, colors and symbols that are impressed by absolute positivity controls. The process of functioning the works’ content in varieties and paradoxes is influenced by tuning, harmony and the balance among composing, colors and the area in a special style and with sincerity in expressing, which leads to say that his style is an innovative special and unique work , bypassing the limits of abstraction to a modern contemporary style, in which the rare expressive shapes and the variant chromatic elements that are fed by the artistic material with high-tech, motif’s usage, diverse signs , expressive functioning and unusual expressive methods are distributed. In addition, establishing plastic indicative diagnoses in depth of abstraction in unusual form in the modern forming represent artistic bases which give his works unique and special plastic aesthetics that reveal the process of establishing new abstractions’ School This talent is not only driven by intuition, but refined through study, thus adding skill to passion and providing the artist with means to transform his creative vision into a living reality reflected in his photos. Passion however, is the source; this is evidently expressed through every shot by Itab upon which a part of her soul is imprinted. A human impression is stirred through her photos, where time and space are but two elements bending at the will of the person, who alone decides what is worth shedding light upon and choses the moments to be saved and cherished. Since the art of photography is demanding, it draws its breath from the photographer’s multiple experiences, Itab and through her many travels and exposure to different cultures, has contributed in raising her art towards new heights where civilizations meet within a photo. It is through her wonderful observations of the Arab environment that the artist reflects her creative vision. It is the mean by which a new photographic poem is born, singing cultural and artistic images. Photography thus embodies the strong affection in humans towards each other and towards any unique experience worth commemorating. When asked of her message through photography, Itab simply answers: “my photos express my message“; words are silent when a picture speaks for itself. Hassan & Ibtesam Kamal Banjer Saudi Arabia, B. 1976, B. 1983 Saudi Arabia, B. 1985 This two-person project entitled Weave of Existence is a social commentary about the interracial relations within the Kingdom. Despite the difference in customs and traditions of the various ethnic groups on Saudi Arabian land, humanity bonds them all at one level and their shared differences on another. United by marriage, the artists Ibtesam Gazder and Hassan Khan use the language of art to analyze their society and evaluate its structure. Their installation constitutes laser perforated acrylic panels cut longitudinally which hang at different heights. Filling the perforations are silicon glue sticks drooping more predominantly on one side forming a consistent visual knit – referencing cultural and social weaves created through human interaction. The transparency of the mediums allows for the play of light and shadow which reminisces the positive and negative features of a given society. Like the visual bonds created by the silicon sticks, the shared differences within a social structure create harmony and consistency – which alternately form the base of good relationships. Ibtesam M. Younis Gazder was born in Saudi Arabia in 1983. She has a bachelor degree in Islamic Arts from the King Abdul Aziz University with first degree honors. Gazder has participated in various local exhibitions most significantly the Decofair Jeddah exhibition, Jeddah; 6th Arabs Selection Exhibition, Jeddah and the 2012 and 2013 Arabian Wings Contemporary Arts Award Exhibitions. Her works have been acquired by major private collectors in the region. Hassan Khan was born in Saudi Arabia in 1976. Besides his fulltime job he collaborates with his wife to create renowned art expressions. He defines himself as a sculpturor who aims to bring new art concepts to the Kingdom through his art practice. His most significant participations have been the Marrakesh Art Residency Program sponsored by Arabian Wings, the Decofair Jeddah exhibition and the 2012 and 2013 Arabian Wings Contemporary Arts Award exhibition. The theme of this artwork revolves around the notion of lifetime experiences and their significance on an individual. Kamal Banjer is interested in recording experiences as benchmarks and achievements, he creates a library which he calls The Library of Life through which he documents positive and negative traces which make up the soul of a being. Banjer believes that each individual has a personal library of life events such as smiles collected from strangers, bad news of family members, sentences which turn into mottos - all of which affect the growth and development of one’s character and are recorded as experiences. These events are reflected as traits in one’s personality that affect the way certain situations and circumstances are dealt with. Banjer takes inspiration from his home town Jeddah and reflects on his own experiences. Due to the diversity of the city he has been prone to various cultures, dialects and environments. This exposure has caused him and others like him to appreciate people of different backgrounds and affluent histories and allow them into their lives – consequently making their libraries more elaborate. The work constitutes wooden shelving which incorporate digital ‘traits’ ironically stacked as books. For Banjer, the library is enriched with time and old age, after all knowledge is not only acquired from reading books. Kamal Hashem Banjer is born in Saudi Arabia in 1985. He currently lives and works in Jeddah. Banjer started his photography career as a hobby in 2009 which took a serious turn in 2011. Besides his fulltime position as Executive Assistant at Arabian Wings and his art making, he teaches photography at local and regional workshops. Banjer has acquired several art prizes and certificates and his works form part of collections of ministries and organizations. He has co-founded the Photography Club in Jeddah and is a jury member for the Jameel Photography Art Prize. AWA #4 24 AWA #4 25 Saad Bin Mohammed Samer Al Halaki Saudi Arabia, B. 1969 Syria, B. 1972 The human body is but a mould expressing a mixture of cultures and civilizations that has merged within its boundaries. The more that human mould is elevated from trivialities, the more it shines with intellectual depth. In such presence, the soul of creativity is manifested and talent prevails, swaying through a painter’s brush or a writer’s pen, weaving letters and colours of a thousand stories. Saad is the most evident example of such a wild brilliant self. He is a writer, a thinker and a painter. Born in 1967 in the city of Jeddah which reflected its blue sea and vast skies in his clarity and vivid imagination, Saad grew in the Holy city of Mecca out of which he drew his spiritual intellect and clarity and cultivated knowledge through each experience he encountered. He holds the Saudi nationality but considers himself to be above all a human being, this is the message he carries and pursues in depth. Saad enrolled at the University of King Abdullah Bin Abd El Aziz, majoring in medicine and seeking human nature in the flesh. Medical science however guided him towards awareness and freed him of the physical to find him narrating the mind and the essence of humanity on paper. He began authoring in 1981, his meticulous cautious nature made him build a fence around himself protecting him from mediocre minds. He therefore kept all of his writings and paintings to himself, giving them the time they needed to present themselves in this spiritual existence. His first book “Ana (I)” came to light in 2003 carrying a rich variety of thoughts and articles that he had been cultivating and writing for long years. The success of his first book encouraged him to shine once again through writing his “Ana … Marra Okhra (I … Again)” as a second part of his first book. The independence of the “I” that proved its excellence in seeking true human nature and its philosophical depth in the universe’s expressions, made him employ every tool that helped him to express. If the letters stood against expression, they would be vanquished by the brush. Saad started his journey with colours in 1990 drawing his motifs out of the surrealistic life. His brush and pen meet on the same road leading to existential expressions and invocations from the self towards human mysteries. Saad Bin Mohammad is the prodigy son of the celestial universe. He strives within himself seeking the invisible mystery that creates harmony and accordance among the meticulous structures of Adam and Eve, thus the universe sank into him making him the reflection of such harmony and delved into its depth to call it his story … his painting. I am aware that a sensual distance exists between myself and anything which lies in front of my eyes. To express what I feel, I must go through some type of emotions. This is followed by a phase of researching and experimenting to express the impressions and sensations generated by myself in these moments. Reflecting on the effects of this being or object on myself may have led me to follow these expressions happening at a specific stage. This has pushed me not to reincarnate or ignore any of these expressions in order to create some visual game. All these are merely ways to express my relationship to the subject so that it becomes utterly subjective. Here lies my belief in what I am trying to shape in my long term experiment through a body of visualizations that could be closer to expressive experiments which finally produce an artistic work closer to me than to reality. BUYING AT AUCTION & GENERAL AUCTION INFORMATION Before the Auction The Catalogue A catalogue prepared by The Arabian Wings Auction is published for every schedule live auction and is available prior to the sale date. The catalogue will help familiarize you with property being offered at the designated auction. For more information, please visit www.arabian-wings.com . Prospective bidders should also consult www.arabian-wings.com for the most up to date cataloguing of the property in this catalogue. Reserve All lots in this catalogue are offered subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum hammer price at which a lot will be sold. All reserves are equal or lower than the low estimate. Estimates Each lot in the catalogue is given a low and high estimate, indicating to a prospective buyer a range in which the lot might sell at auction. When possible, the estimate is based on previous auction records of comparable pieces. The estimates are determined several months before a sale and are therefore subject to change upon further research of the property, or to reflect market conditions or currency fluctuations. Estimates should not be relied upon as a representation or prediction of actual selling prices. Provenance In certain circumstances, Arabian Wings Auction may print in the catalogue the history of ownership of a work of art if such information contributes to scholarship or is otherwise well known and assists in distinguishing the work of art. However, the identity of the seller or previous owners may not be disclosed for a variety of reasons. For example, such information may be excluded to accommodate a seller’s request for confidentiality or because the identity of prior owners is unknown given the age of the work of art. Specialist Advice Prospective bidders may be interested in specific information not included in the catalogue description of a lot. For additional information, please contact one of The Arabian Wings Auction’s Specialists (all of whom are listed in the front of the catalogue). You may also request a condition report from the specialist in charge. The Exhibition An exhibition of the auction property will be held the week prior to the auction on the days listed in the front of the catalogue. There you will have the opportunity to view, inspect and evaluate the artwork yourself, or with the help of one of Arabian Wings Auction’s Specialists (all of whom are listed in the front of the catalogue). Salesroom Notices Salesroom notices amend the catalogue description of a lot after the catalogue has gone to press. They are posted in the viewing galleries and salesroom or are announced by the auctioneer. During the Auction The Auction Auctions are open to the public without any admission fee or obligation to bid. The auctioneer introduces the objects for sale- known as “lots” – in numerical order as listed in the catalogue. Unless otherwise noted in the catalogue or by an announcement at the auction, Arabian Wings Auction acts like agent on behalf of the seller and does not permit the seller to bid on his or her own property. It is important for all bidders to know that the auctioneer may open the bidding on any lot by placing a bid on behalf of the seller. The auctioneer may further bid on behalf of the seller, up to the amount of the reserve, by placing responsive or consecutive bids for a lot. The auctioneer will not place consecutive bids on behalf of the seller above the reserve. Bidding in Person If you would like to bid, you must register for a paddle upon entering the salesroom. The paddle is numbered so as to identify you to the auctioneer. To register, you will need a form of identification such as a driver’s license, a passport or some other type of government issued identification. If you are a first time bidder, you will also be asked for your address, phone number and signature in order to create your account. If you are bidding for someone else, you will need to provide a letter from that person authorizing you to bid on that person’s behalf. Issuance of a bidding paddle is in at our discretion. AWA #4 198 Bidding Increments The bids generally start below the minimum appraised value. Paddles shall be raised in accordance with the following chart. The auctioneer shall be entitled to change the bidding intervals. $ From $ To $ Bidding incremental 100 2000 100 2,000 5,000 200 5,000 10,000 500 10,000 20,000 1,000 20,000 50,000 2,000 50,000 100,000 5,000 Above 100,000 --- 10,000 Absentee Bidding If it is not possible for you to attend the auction in person, you may place your bid ahead of time. In the back of every catalogue there is an absentee bid form, which you can use to indicate the item you wish to bid on and the maximum bid you are willing to make. Return the completed absentee bid form to Arabian Wings Auction either by mail or fax. When the lot that you are interested in comes up for sale, an auction specialist will execute the bid on your behalf, making every effort to purchase the item for as little as possible and never exceeding your limit. This service is free and confidential. For detailed instructions and information, please see the Absentee Bid Form and Guide for Absentee Bidders instructions at the back of this catalogue. Results Successful absentee bidders will be notified after the sale. Printed lists of auction prices are available at our galleries approximately one week following each auction and are sent on request to catalogue subscribers. Results may also be obtained online at www.arabian-wings.com . Telephone Bidding In some circumstances, we offer the ability to place bids by telephone live to one of our representatives on the auction floor. Please contact the Bid Department prior to the sale to make arrangements or to answer any questions you may have. Telephone bids are accepted only at Arabian Wings Auction’s discretion and at the caller’s risk. Calls may also be recorded at Arabian Wings Auction’s discretion. By bidding on the telephone, prospective buyers consent thereto. Hammer Price and the Buyer’s Premium For lots which are sold, the last price for a lot as announced by the auctioneer is the hammer price. A buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price and is payable by the purchaser as part of the total purchase price. The buyer’s premium will be the amount stated in the Conditions of Sale. After the Auction Payment If your bid is successful, you can go directly to Client Accounting to make payment arrangements. Otherwise, your invoice will be mailed to you. The final price is determined by adding the buyer’s premium to the hammer price on a per-lot basis. Sales tax, where applicable, will be charged on the entire amount. Payment is due in full immediately after the sale. However, under certain circumstances, Arabian Wings Auction may, in its sole discretion, offer bidders an extended payment plan. Such a payment plan may provide an economic benefit to the bidder. Credit terms should be requested at least one business day before the sale. However, there is no assurance that an extended payment plan will be offered. Please contact Client Accounting or the specialist in charge of the sale for information on credit arrangements for a particular lot. You may pay by cash, wire transfer, check, or credit card.
