“50TH (GOLDEN) WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
OF PROBIANS SITA & T V BALAN OF PROBUS CLUB OF HYDERABAD”
The best event of 2011-12, the above Celebrations on 24th Dec 2011 was attended by about 160
Guests including a few from overseas. Warm messages poured in from celebrities’, including
Chairman and Vice Chairman of ACC (TVB’s Almamater), Chairman Emeritus of TCS, Mentor of
Infosys, Chinaman Friend from Singapore, et all.
The entire Program on the 24th Dec 2011, “the Red Letter Day” amongst the Balans, was master
minded by the Six 2nd Generation Balans --- Sons Harish, Sanjay & Jayant and their talented wives
Ruksha, Sujatha & Sunandini, and Five 3rd Generation Balans Amara, Tara & Meera, the grand
daughters and Aditya & Surya, the grandsons. Harish was the “MC”, and did a very laudable job.
The Principal Speaker at the function was the Senator of Marion Iowa, USA Mrs. Swati Dandekar,
and the first Indian Lady Senator in USA. T V Balan had known her from her age one, when he joined
ACC at Sevalia Cement Works as a Government Apprentice in Feb 1952, as eldest daughter of late P
V Dharmadhikari (GM Yanbu Cement). Swati emotionally addressed the gathering going thru’ the memory
lane of 50 years association with the Balans. The other Speakers were Prof DVR Vithal Fellow of the
Computer Society of India (CSI), T V Balan being the youngest Fellow & CSI President. Rotary
District Governor Sambasiva Rao and K C S Rao President of the Probus Club of Hyderabad of
Senior Citizens, affiliated to parent body in Australia also spoke about the unique contributions of ‘the
Balans’ over decades especially sharing “Knowledge & Experience” with the younger generation.
