Chamber Mixer Message From the Board Chair Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau by Ed Braxton February was a very busy month in Lompoc. During the month we were introduced to our Flower Festival Queen candidates during a Chamber Mixer at the Lompoc Valley Festival Offices. We had another Chamber Mixer at the Lompoc Family YMCA. Thank you to Chamber Board member and YMCA Executive Director Tommy Speidel and his staff for being such gracious hosts. The Lompoc Rotary Club also held its 27th Annual Wine Tasting and Auction on February 28th. It was well attended and the proceeds will benefit local projects here in the Lompoc Valley. Perhaps the biggest event was the inaugural Lompoc Restaurant Week. By all accounts, this was a tremendously successful event spread over an entire week. This was a collaboration between the Chamber, the Santa Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance, Shop Lompoc-Shop Small and the participating restaurants. Special recognition goes to Chamber Board member Barbara Satterfield for her vision and hard work. To see more about Lompoc Restaurant Week, visit the Chamber’s new look and more robust website at www.lompoc.com. Finally, I encourage members to consider hosting a mixer. It’s a great way to network with other businesses in the Lompoc Valley and make new friends. Have a great March. This was made possible by the business sponsorships that you will see in the “windows” around the edges of the unit and scrolling on the computer screen. A huge thank you to those businesses for their support of this effort! 25 Farmers Market, Ocean Ave. & I St., 1:30 - 5 pm Business Connections Breakfast All Chamber members are invited to bring some business cards or rack cards by our office and we will make sure they get on the display unit. If demand requires it, we will rotate the cards so everyone has a chance to be included. Our lobby is visited by tourists and locals alike, so we are excited to have this new tool to offer visitors to our office. All Chamber members are welcome to submit news items for inclusion on the “News/Blog” portion of the www.TouchLompocValley.com website that is tied to the touch-screen. This will be seen by hundreds of visitors to our lobby each month, so take advantage of this opportunity by sending over a Word document with your submission to [email protected]. You may send over a news article about your business or organization, information about an event, a useful “tip” article or other content appropriate for a “News/Blog” outlet. The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce recently held another Business Connections Breakfast at Nikka Fish Enterprise on Thursday, March 3rd. There were twenty-nine people in attendance, with a wide variety of industries represented. It was a time without a formal speaker, and each person got to speak to the group for two minutes about their business or organization, which allowed everyone to learn more about that person. Each attendee walked away with a “Hot Sheet” with the other attendees’ information on it for future reference. The Chamber plans on holding these breakfasts once a quarter to provide another networking opportunity to our community to help strengthen the bonds between our members. The Chamber lobby is still going through a transformation, so keep an eye out for a formal announcement and photos of our new look soon!
