various countries appreciated DLFites on writing winning
blogs on what religion, faith and belief system truly means to
them - in ‘My Friend of a Different Faith’- a worldwide
conducted online competition. Out of more than 300 entries
across the world, there were 30 winning blogs out of which
4 were of DLFites. The blogs were rated to be of highest
standards of writing on a different, moving story of friendship
across boundaries and personal struggles. These blogs will

no small issue at the World’s Children’s
Press Conference 2011!
Nearly 1000 DLFites joined hands with 24 million children
from 53,500 schools across 101 countries of the world,
as they took part for the second year in the unique voting event
for the children, decade Global Vote 2011 for the WCPRC
(World's Children's Prize for the Rights of Children) on April
18-19. DLFites also organized the World’s Children’s Press
Conference on the need to protect child rights.

As part of broadening their outlook of the wide world and its
variety of cultures and languages, DLFites are now learning
French in the real world context at Alliance Française de
Delhi. DLFites are going to participate in the Inter School
Competition of French Songs and Quiz on March 24,

January and March 2012; a new venture of BBC News
Channel. They felt the heat of real life journalism and the
pressure that builds in the newsroom. The challenge was the

DLFites made their place in country’s TOP 10 performances
in the Drama Festival organized by the British Council and
the Central School of Speech Drama, University of
London. DLFites held their audience captive with the charm
of their One Act Play- The Most Precious Gift in the SemiFinals held in Kolkata for 60 qualifying schools from around India
during 31 Aug - 13 September 2011. Their love for stage is
what made them shine distinctly!
Our Principal’s week-long
visit to Scotland
Principal, Mrs. Seema Jerath, along with School Heads from 6
schools in India received a red carpet welcome by all the
partner schools in Glasgow, Scotland during her visit to Mearns
Castle High School, Mearns Primary, Calderwood Lodge,
Eaglesham Primary, Khirkhill Primary and Hazeldene Nursery.
She spent one day in each of the six schools and interacted
with the students and teachers. The Indian way of life was
shared by DLFites with their overseas friends in the form of
souvenirs like Khadi Indian flags and handmade gifts.

exclusive Kathak Recital by the internationally acclaimed
Kathak exponent -- Mahua Shankar on November 19, 2011
under the auspices of SPIC MACAY. The event provided
enriching education; presenting a holistic vision of Indian
culture, and its priceless heritage of classical, folk and community traditions, to students from various schools. Mrs Shankar
portrayed various vignettes of this rich Indian dance form,

Technology came handy at DLF through the exciting Robotics
Club, a new dimension to our enriched curriculum. Being an
activity based learning platform integrated across Science,
Technology, Mathematics & Engineering, DLFites are experiencing
concepts through the models they create. The process of designing,
constructing and running Robots is not only fun but is building across
creative problem solving and programming skills in DLFites preparing them for exciting careers in Science & Technology.

favourite with each class. It helps inculcate value behaviour in

Programme
‘Learners on the Way’ programme is based on the assumptionTogether everybody achieves more. The team comprises a
Mother Teacher, Coordinator, Counsellor and Parents who work in
complete synchronization. Each individual is analysed and treated
as a case study and remedial process is tailor made to suit
individual’s difficulties and learning styles.

Mindspark--- A highly
successful initiative
Two years ago, we introduced the concept of Personalized
Learning and implemented with Mindspark- that ignited a
passion for Mathematics by offering self-paced learning at
each individual’s comfort and interest. We had a wonderful
outcome with almost a 100% pass result in Mathematics
across classes IV-VI. Children now want to study Mathematics
themselves without being forced by parents and teachers. The
growing engagement of children and the increased success

Programme-Detailed Assessment
The school has launched a Detailed Assessment Programme
for classes III-V to address the individualized learning needs of
each learner. It:
1 Assists students with regular tests to identify individual
learning gaps and learning misconceptions.
2 Assists teachers to identify the learning gaps within 24 hrs.
3 Offers a remedial plan for every individual learner.
The efficacy of the unique programme lies around assessment
of learning gaps of each individual learner and personal

Talking of scholarships, incentives and recognition, it is gratifying
for all of us to know that DLFites are being given an
ever-increasing encouragement to excel. In 2011-12, 33 students
of class XI received scholarships worth Rs. 5,19,660 Simultaneously, 17- students of class XII were rewarded with scholarships
totalling Rs.4,00,680.

for itself: Out of 85 children who appeared, at the Starters Level,
45 have been awarded 15/15 Shields and 21 children have been
awarded 14/15 Shields each. (Just one less than top score). 13
children won 13/15 Shields. At the Movers Level- 3 out of 12
children bagged 14/15 Shields each and at the Flyers Level- 2 out
of 8 grabbed an amazing number of 14/15 Shields each. Great
going DLFites! DLFites were recognised and awarded on
10th February, 2012 as part of the 4th EDUConvEvex at India
Habitat Centre, and received Certificates of Recognition.

India /Delhi Secondary School Examinations, 2010-11.

Walking to help the elderly walk
with their heads held high!
DLFites supported the elderly by participating in a ‘Walkathon’
organized by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
and Helpage India to focus on issues of healthy and active
ageing and inter-generational integration. The walk was
conducted on October 01 at Rajpath, New Delhi.

the highly prestigious National Women Excellence Award 2011
sponsored by Yog Foundation of India, Women International

Responsibility
grows
Like the Grand Banyan Tree!
Under the newly launched SSR Programme (Student Social
Responsibility), which involves students working for social
causes, the DLFites of Community Club (Class VIII) along with
200 schools from across India joined hands in one of the
biggest paper recycling projects -- The Grand Banyan Project,
an initiative of the British Council in collaboration with the NGO,
I Love My Mother Earth (ILMME) Foundation. The project had
two significant highlights. One was the ‘Collection of waste
paper to produce notebooks’ for disadvantaged children. The
other was the conduct of a ‘Cleanest Day Drive, for which class
V DLFites adopted their School neighbourhood area and
worked with the help of school guild. Eco champs of school
surveyed the area and interacted with people and roped in the
RWA members and Nagar Nigam officials to tackle this
problem. The idea was to create awareness amongst people,
understanding the reasons behind such indiscriminate dumping by residents and provide people with a hygienic environment to show them the power of the mantra of I CAN DO. The
result is out there for everyone to see- A clean and developed
neighborhood around DLF!

Joining 26 countries in the Anti-Malaria World
Relay - from West Africa... to India... to DLF
DLFites’ highly successful anti-Malaria campaign is now
being followed by “Where’s the net?” a joint global inter-faith
initiative by 26 countries under Tony Blair’s face to Faith
Programme. It is aimed at raising awareness about ‘Malaria’
through the symbolic journey of ‘net’ which began at Sierra
Leone, South Africa and will travel through 26 countries including India; where it will be hosted by our school from April 10-13,
2012. This is a step further to DLFites’ commitment to malaria
prevention and multi-faith action!

Shining on the elderly, and on the
environment!
Always determined to do something good and meaningful,
DLFites took Deepawali as a bright opportunity to make both
Nature and the elderly happy at the same time! For the aged,
they collected and contributed a huge amount of Rs. 2,55,000
to Helpage India to support their work for senior citizens. And
by resolving to minimize use of polluting crackers, they lent a
hand in protecting the environment. Now, that’s what we call a
caring and sharing Diwali!

A ‘vote’ of confidence for all
that our students can do!
The residents of Rajinder Nagar, Sahibabad witnessed a
spectacle of social duty and responsibility by the enthusiastic
DLFites. Our students may not be old enough to vote yet, but
that did not deter them from making an invaluable contribution
to society. They met the citizens of the area, and encouraged
them to exercise their very important fundamental right -- the
Right to Vote. These young change agents said they would be
delighted if they had been able to inspire even a few people to
exercise their franchise!

‘Happy Health’ check-ups, fun-filled activities, ‘Catch Grandparents’ Smile’ competition, all made the grandparents feel
elated, proud, and touched! After all, it was no ordinary
occasion, but DLFites celebrating everything that Grandpas
and Grandmas stand for!

Entrepreneurs sighted on
Children’s Day!
It was a unique opportunity to learn what Project Execution was
all about! On Children’s Day, DLF ites presented The
Entrepreneurial Mela. The key was that it was the students who
completely ‘ran the show’! This included planning & budgeting,
deciding on the stalls to be put up, setting up the fun rides,
managing the operations, and even handling the fiscal aspects
of funds & profit management! In fact, they learnt the art of
utilizing available resources optimally… and acted quite like
grown-ups on Children’s Day!

DLFest, the unique initiative conceptualized two years back
was planned this year as Com-Congregatio, a Commerce
Festival that created a stimulated environment to help students
acquire hands-on skills for handling real-life challenges and
situations in the current cyclone of globalization.
Participants from various schools vied for grand prizes like
DVDs, cash awards and certificates -- both for themselves
and their schools.

Little DLFites gave a refreshingly happy and positive twist to
the famous slogan "Yellow, Yellow, Dirty Fellow", and came out
with novel ideas not just to remember the colour but also to
make Yellow Colour day memorable! The little one’s celebrated
blue colour day, orange colour day, red colour day and green
colour day. At DLF it’s fun learning colours!

The Inter-House Carol Singing Competition became a very
special affair, with two very distinguished guests and
seasoned musicians on the Judgement Panel. Ms. Nadya
Valeyrevna, with a Master’s in Piano & Choir Conduction from
Moscow State University of Art & Culture, was joined by Mr.
Tony John, a lead guitarist and vocalist of the Gospel
Symphonic Black Metal band called ‘Redemption Fire’. Their
presence lent an air of professionalism to the competition.

Our Principal, Mrs. Seema Jerath, was elected as the
Vice-Chairperson of the Sahodya School Complex, Ghaziabad Chapter. The body is a newly formed cluster of diverse
schools, created in December 2011 that comprises 9 founder
members from various educational institutions of the area. The
group is committed to working towards the common goal of
sharing educational experiences and setting benchmarks of
quality to benefit all the stakeholders -- the students, parents,
teachers, and the managements. Thus, it is hoped to contribute to developing the community at large. With great minds
involved, the Chapter looks ahead with confidence!
“Scientific Concepts Exhibition” culminated the Science Month
with spanking new concepts designed by the Little Einsteins
judged by eminent educationalists like Dr. R. K. Agarwal, HOD,
Chemistry, Lajpat Rai Post-Graduate College, Dr. Jaya Singh,
Dr. Tej Narayan Shivpuru and Mrs. Seema Behl. Application of
Concepts in Mathematics found their way through ‘Maths
Month’. On the same lines- Hindi Divas during Hindi Month was
graced by Acharya Muni Dr. Lokesh Ji, founder of Ahinsa Vishwa
Bharti Foundation and English Month too well synchronized
learning with its application in real life situations. Now, could there

Brunch with DLFites
DLFites of Gourmet Club served a platter of exotic dishes like
“Virgin Mojito, Hungry Caterpillar, Mocktails, Salads”… which
many of their parents had tasted for the first time as they invited their
parents to a foodie session- Brunch with DLFites. It was a treat to
the five senses of the parents who indulged their taste-buds in this
culinary fete. Parents were swept off the carpet and remarked
“Thanks to the royal hospitality showered.” Beware of the budding
