OUR LOCATIONS ABOUT PVA Founded in 1975, in San Antonio, Texas, Peripheral Vascular Associates has become one of the largest single specialty vascular groups in the nation. Vascular surgeons are the only specialists extensively trained to provide the full range of treatment options including medical management, minimally invasive endovascular therapy, and traditional surgery. We offer a complete range of peripheral vascular surgery services including carotid endarterectomy, aortic aneurysm repair, lower extremity bypass, dialysis grafts, state of the art balloon angioplasty, stenting, and endografts. The staff of over 160 individuals within PVA includes: nurses, prosthetists, radiology technologists, noninvasive vascular technologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing assistants, clerical staff, operators, administrators and 20 physicians with over 200 years of cumulative experience as “Doctors of Arteries and Veins”. The vascular system consists of vessels that transport essential substances to and from the different parts of the body. Vascular disease is a condition that affects the arteries and/or veins. Most often, vascular disease affects blood flow either by blocking or weakening blood vessels or by damaging the valves that are found in veins. When traditional surgeries become necessary, patients will continue to see the same physician throughout the entire course of their care. The physician’s at PVA are credentialed with many San Antonio area hospital systems ensuring a continuum of care for all levels of the vascular disease spectrum. THE VASCULAR EXPERTS DIAGNOSING AND TREATING VASCULAR DISEASE Vascular ultrasound testing is non-invasive and provides critical information necessary for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. Exams are performed in accredited laboratories solely dedicated to vascular ultrasound testing. Ultrasound tests are often performed on the same day as the doctor visit for patient convenience and immediate physician review. Our highly trained vascular specialists use the latest in minimally invasive techniques to treat blockages that exist in the vascular system. Many of these techniques, from angiography to endovascular interventions, can be performed within the comfort of our offices, in the outpatient interventional suites. Until recently, these procedures could only be performed in hospitals. Our suites provide a comfortable and familiar environment for the patients. Each patient receives a personal evaluation and treatment plan tailored to their specific symptoms, disease location, and other health factors.
