Each lantern motif print-out should be 25.5 cm wide and 20.5 cm high. Cut off any unprinted white paper around the edge. Important: The sheet of paper with the lantern motif should be flat. Place the page with the lantern motif on a sheet of baking paper. Next, cover the entire print-out with an even layer of FIMO liquid directly from the nozzle. Use a pin to prick any air bubbles open. Repeat the procedure for the second lantern motif. Tip: Alternatively, you can print the motif out in black-and-white and colour it in using coloured pencils. All other steps are the same as for the coloured print-out version. 2 Place the lantern motifs coated in FIMO liquid in the oven and harden for approx. 20 min at 130°C. Take them out and leave to cool. Place the FIMO liquid motif with the smooth (coated) surface face-downwards in a shallow bowl or sink. Add enough cold water to cover the motif and leave to soak for approx. 1 min. Then use your fingertip (not your fingernail!) to carefully rub the paper off. Put the FIMO liquid motif face-downwards on the work surface and use your fingers to pull the edges straight. 3 Place both FIMO liquid motifs face-downwards on the work surface. Attach double-sided sticky tape to each of the motifs at the top and bottom edges and at the sides. Position the lantern motifs next to each other, slightly overlapping in the middle so that the motifs are stuck together. Position the lantern film exactly over the motifs and stick on. Now attach double-sided sticky tape to the lantern film at the top and bottom and at the sides. Dab dry with kitchen roll and allow the motif to dry thoroughly. 2 easy level of difficulty medium hard more creative tips at www.staedtler.com/creative_tips_for_FIMO Instructions for the pirate lantern 4 5 Paint or spray paint the lantern base and lid in blue and the rod in red. Leave to dry. Use double-sided sticky tape to stick the lid to the inside of the lantern. Then stick the lantern motifs around the outside of the base. Stand the lantern up and stick the sides of the motifs together. With a kitchen knife, cut two slits in the middle of the base and add the candle holder. 6 Use double-sided sticky tape to stick red and blue satin ribbon around the lantern base and along the sides of the motifs. Apply all-purpose glue to the top of the lantern and wrap red-and-white cord around it. Tie two approx. 50 cm long pieces of string together, position around the lantern and tie again. Make two holes on opposite sides of the lid with the scissors, insert the handle and bend the ends of the wire using the round nose pliers. That‘s it – the new pirate lantern is finished! 3 more creative tips at www.staedtler.com/creative_tips_for_FIMO more creative tips at www.staedtler.com/creative_tips_for_FIMO more creative tips at www.staedtler.com/creative_tips_for_FIMO more creative tips at www.staedtler.com/creative_tips_for_FIMO
