You will be met at Rome - Fiumicino airport and transferred by limousine to the splendid Hotel De Russie, at Piazza del Popolo in the heart of Rome. Here you can take a rest before setting out on an initial tour of the wonders of the ‘Eternal City’. Evening Dinner in Rome. Visit the Ferrari store as well and capture the right mood for tomorrow’s encounter with the Prancing Horse! Moreover, a 3-hour tour of Rome by private car will be available for you all day. Discovery of the picturesque and the breathtaking panorama offered by the valley landscape, enriched by pure driving pleasure of roads around the amazing succession of rolling hills and never-ending curves! At the wheel of his Alfa Romeo, Red Travel’s Tour Director guides you through a colourful landscape passing typical towns and villages, whose charming appeal expresses the very soul of the Val d’Orcia. First stop is Bagno Vignoni, whose characteristic, besides the thermal waters flowing in the main square at 52 °C (126 °F), is its unchanged mediaeval structure. Second stop is Pienza, Pope Pius’ II birthplace, located high on a hillside. Meant to be the ideal Renaissance town, Pienza comprises such beauties as a white stone cathedral, Palazzo Piccolomini with its fine courtyard, Palazzo Borgia, a graceful Piazza… The tour heads towards Montepulciano, archetypical Tuscan mediaeval town built at the summit of a hill as well and surrounded by walls and fortifications. Driving along this historical route, you will reach Siena, an unspoiled mediaeval city, world-renowned for its Palio, a horse race around the city’s seashelllike Piazza del Campo. Siena’s other intact gems from the Middle Age include the Town Hall (Palazzo Pubblico) and the Torre dei Mangia (1340), which is about as high as the Cathedral.
