ADVENT: WAIT, WATCH, PREPARE, WORSHIP AND PROCLAIM
At the beginning of Advent, I was wondering what I could do to make this time different from any other time. Can
Christmas decorations, twinkling lights, seasonal food and carol singing make any difference in our daily life?
Surely they can! But it will not last for a long time and as soon as Christmas holidays end, decorations and lights will be
removed from our houses and the Christmas lights in the streets and put away in our store rooms till next year.
E, WORSHIp AND PROCLAIM!
On Christmas Day we celebrate the Incarnation of God’s Son who took our human nature and flesh. This miracle did not
happen only once upon a time…! The miracle of Christmas is happening every day in our Christian life. Every day the
Son of God dwells among us.
We are living Bethlehems, yes we are living Bethlehems — Jesus is born in us every time we receive Him during
communion and we welcome Him into our hearts, and into our homes. This is the real meaning of Christmas. This
Christmas will never end, even as the season’s gifts and celebrations are forgotten. Our joy will continue; so as we
sing: “Joy to the World, the Lord is come! We should share the joy of salvation in Christ every day. We need to
celebrate that Jesus, our Savior, is with us and with all Christians every day.
I wish for you and your loved ones to be filled with the Christmas spirit of the love and joy of Christ and share with
others every day of the New Year 2016.
I send your way LOVE and PRAYERS, Pastor Lia

HELPING HANDS
We need your help in these areas:
1. Saturday, December 5 at 2 pm. Help take down the tables from the craft fair and
set up the Fellowship Hall for the praise service. The room needs to be ready by 5
pm.
2. Help build the town of Bethlehem. The pallets will be arriving at the beginning of
the week to start putting up the walls. Extra hands to hold up the walls are needed
if you are not handy with tools. Bring work gloves so you don’t get splinters.
3. Friday, December 11 during the day, help move tables and chairs to each of the
booths in Bethlehem, set up the wise men’s tents, bring over the benches, etc.
4. Friday, December 11 move the supplies from the office and costume areas and put
them in each of the booths.
5. Sunday, December 13 help is needed to disassemble Bethlehem, pile up the pallets
to be picked up and clean up the property.
FINANCE
As I am completing the chairperson position on the Finance committee, I wish to thank all the
members of the finance committee that have served with me throughout the years. Your
commitment to God and serving him on this committee is testament to your own commitment to
serving God in whatever position he assigns you.
I also wish to thank all members of this congregation for your support to God and his church.
Your faithfulness has allowed many things to be accomplished by showing your church as a
beacon and landmark to everyone coming into Lehigh and all our neighbors within Lehigh.

As we go on together, with God as our leader, we can do great things as long as we follow his
direction and offer his love to one and all.
Also I wish to thank the pastors that have been a shepherd to this congregation and me personally
while I served as chairperson.
Thank you all.

~Dec 27 Hymn Sing
If you do attend all these Special Ev ents in December you will truly feel like you are
“Home For Christmas”. Home with all your family, your church family and together
remembering all those who are not here at home with you for Christmas. Those who live
away from you now and all who have “truly” gone Home for Christmas. Home with our
Savior who is the True Meaning of this Christmas Season.
As you attend all the upcoming events in December, may the spirit of the blessed season
make you glad that you did choose to come out and join us in song and in fellowship
with others. May you all be blessed as we welcome the Newborn King, Jesus, into our
homes and our hearts in the coming weeks.
God Bless You All ~ Mary
Giving ~ Now that you pledged what you are going to give to support the church each week or month, you have options on how
to give that pledge

Pledge envelopes are available for checks or cash that can be placed in the offering plate, dropped off at the church office,
or mailed to the office.
 Electronic transfer of funds (ETF) – you can set it up with your bank or complete an authorization form available from the
church office for the church to set up the transfer through Vanco Payments Service.
 Online giving – we have a link on our website that takes you to Pay Pal. You can also use this to pay for special events.
 Mobile giving app Joyfully2UMC is available as a free download for Android and iOS mobile devices. Type in the name of
the church in the SEARCH box and follow the prompts.
It is your regular support that covers the necessities (utilities, salaries, supplies, and maintenance) and also provides for all of the
programs we do every day. Throughout this newsletter you will read about Bible classes and special events that would not be
possible without your regular giving.
Those who give monthly will note that occasionally your giving statement will note you are behind on your giving. That is due to
some months having a 5th week (Sunday) instead of the usual 4 weeks in a month. In 2016, this will occur in January, May, July and
October. You will be caught up with one extra monthly payment during the year.
Mission and Outreach projects are extra giving above what you pledged.
Thank you for
donating your
newspapers to the
recycle bin behind
the sanctuary.
We receive a check
each time it is
picked up which
averages $50.00.
You not only help
the church but you
also help the
environment.
Call the church office if you have any questions or you can talk to Keith Hepler, our Finance Secretary.
Christ United Methodist Church is pleased to announce a new partnership and fundraising opportunity with WOW Auction, a locally owned business that
specializes in assisting Non-Profit Organizations. WOW Auction is an online only auction company that has sold everything from tools, furniture, appliances,
boats, trailers, vehicles and more. Now, WOW Auction is offering CUMC an opportunity to join and grow support levels through these areas:
1. Tangible Donations – We now have all the benefits of owning a thrift store without the associated time commitments and costs. WOW Auctions will
accept consignment of your gently used tangible items, sell them at auction and forward the net proceeds to our church. Upon WOW Auction taking
possession of your items, you will receive a qualified charitable donation receipt. You, the donor, will assign a value to your item(s) for the purpose of
tax deductions. This is a great opportunity to help the church if you cannot wait for the next rummage sale.
2. Advertising Opportunities – For any of our supporters who own businesses, attractions or vacation properties, WOW Auction offers an economical
and effective targeted advertising opportunity. Your item or service will be listed and sold on WOW Auction’s next online auction and the net
proceeds will be forwarded to our church. WOW Auction’s following and marketing program can give your business, attraction, property, etc. great
exposure to our local community and support CUMC.
3. Voting and Bidding – Go to wowauction.com, click on Non-Profits at the very top of the website, on the right hand side look for our church, select our
organization, the last step is to “Vote”. Each quarter WOW Auction will pay out 5% of its net proceeds to participating NPO’s based on their percent of
the total votes received. Each individual is eligible to vote once per day. Each bid that you cast, will increase the quarterly payout to our church.
As always, thank you for all your support. Without you, we could not continue our mission. If you have any questions in regards to this new program, please
contact WOW Auction directly at 239-939-0555 or visit their website at wowauction.com.
