March/April - Rogers Memorial Library
N E W S LE T T ER & Programs MARCH APRIL 2016 Rogers Memorial Library Dedicated to inspire lifelong learning and serve the educational and cultural needs of the community. Book Tree This past holiday season Rogers Memorial Library celebrated the gift of reading with a “Book Tree.” Staff and patrons alike wrote down their favorite titles on paper book ornaments that they hung on the tree. By season’s end, over fifty books decorated this tree. Harry Potter was well represented by both younger and older patrons… and there was more than one ornament for The Martian. Authors of the moment like Anthony Doerr and Jonathan Franzen shared branches with Dostoevsky and Frances Hodgsen Burnett. Even younger patrons got into the spirit with books like The King, The Mice, and the Cheese and The Napping House. Thanks to each and every one of you for taking the time to share your favorite titles and authors. You can find a full list of books on the library’s Pinterest page and on Facebook. We encourage you to check out any or all of these remarkable titles. Here’s to a new library tradition! The 14th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Breakfast Pastor Leslie Duroseau, from the United Methodist Church, gave the opening prayer. Dr. Natalie Byfield was the featured speaker. 2016 Rogers Memorial Library High School Scholarship Graduating high school students who live in the Southampton or Tuckahoe school districts are invited to apply for the 2016 Rogers Memorial Library Scholarship.
