We compose this message, as our program year comes to a
conclusion with a bang. Between child care and summer camp,
the halls of the “Y”, its playgrounds, swimming pools and picnic
areas, are filled with the vibrant, joyous sounds of over 600
children.
Soon our new program year will be upon us and we look forward
to continuing a legacy that has a history of 132 years of service
to the community. For more than five generations, the “Y” has
been a “home away from home” for thousands of people. We
are excited to bring to a new generation the cornucopia of
programs, events, activities and classes represented in this
program guide. The dedicated staff and lay leadership strive
together to provide the community with quality, affordable child
care, summer camp, Jewish cultural programs, health and
fitness activities and programs for senior adults and families.
Providing these services is not an easy task. Only half the costs
of operations are covered by your fees. The rest is paid for
through government contracts, foundation grants and allocations
from the Jewish Federation and United Way. The last 7% must
be raised through fundraising projects such as the Telephone
Directory which is included in this guide. In addition, we have
just kicked off our 2015 Annual Campaign with a goal of
$100,000, a Casino Night is scheduled for November and our
Raffle dinner will be held in January. None of this can happen
without your support, however, so we encourage your
participation.
It should be clear from what we have just shared with you that
the “Y” really is a bargain. We invite you to take advantage of
as many programs and activities as you can and make the “Y”
your home away from home.
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and prosperous New
Year.
