Havana Biennial Art & Culture Tour May 23rd - May 29th Havana • Cienfuegos • Trinidad www.ourcreativecurrents.org Creative Currents Artist Collaborative and Hammonds House Museum are pleased to announce the 2015 Havana Biennial Art & Culture Tour! Since 2001, Creative Currents Artist Collaborative has brought together individuals interested in the arts and cultures of Africa and the Black Diaspora in order to explore and create. We engage our mission by connecting artists, scholars and arts enthusiasts with exciting and varied artsbased cultural experiences and by supporting and creating sustainable communities within which the arts can be lived and celebrated. For 25 years, Hammonds House Museum has been a mecca for people seeking inspiration, interaction, and intellectual stimulation centered on art of the African Diaspora. The Museum has redefined the experience of art by providing thought-provoking exhibitions and cultural events in an environment that is at once comfortable, mind-expanding, and uniquely attuned to the interests and needs of patrons of every age. During the Havana Art Biennial trip, participants will explore the art and culture of Cuba, it’s people and history. In addition to the Biennial activities taking place in traditional and alternative spaces throughout the grand old city of Havana, participants will enjoy the colonial architecture found at every corner, live music and dance performances, home-cooked Caribbean foods in the cities numerous paladares, and person to person interactions with Cuban artists, scholars and locals. On the Havana Biennial Art & Culture Tour we will immerse ourselves in Cuban life with walking and bus tours of Havana neighborhoods. We will vibe with the youth of the Cuban Rap Association. We’ll take a ferry ride across the bay to Regla to visit the church of the Black Virgin. We’ll meet the noted Afro-Cuban filmmaker, Gloria Rolando, and view her latest work. Participants will also enjoy a break in the hustle and bustle of city life in Havana with trips to explore the Cuban cities of Cienfuegos and Trinidad.
