Greetings to all new and returning members of NAIFA-Arizona !
The year 2014 brought us some historic developments for our state
association:
Most notably, the governor signed into law our CE bill which took many
years to develop, promote, lobby, and ultimately pass both houses of
the Arizona state legislature in January 2014. Although 2014 saw the
culmination of this hard work, a big thank you must go out to our legislative
committee which spent an inordinate amount of time and effort on this bill
for the 2 years prior.
Second, NAIFA-Arizona achieved platinum status for the Jack E. Bobo
Award of Excellence, given annually to deserving associations, either state
or local. NAIFA-Arizona was one of only 2 state associations (Iowa being
the other) who achieved the platinum level, the highest honor given for this
award. This was also the second year in a row Arizona has achieved this
most distinguished designation. Congratulations must also be given to the
leadership of NAIFA-Scottsdale and NAIFA-Tucson as these associations
also achieved the platinum status for the Bobo Award. Collectively,
NAIFA-Arizona, NAIFA-Scottsdale, and NAIFA-Tucson were members of
the select group of 20 associations to have achieved this honor.
Finally, Arizona was recognized as one of only 7 state associations to achieve
membership growth for the year ending June 2014. Furthermore, NAIFAEast Valley, NAIFA-Phoenix, NAIFA-Scottsdale, and NAIFA-Tucson were
also recognized as local associations achieving membership growth. A BIG
thank you must be given to all members of the respective state and local
membership committees that made this vision a successful reality !
Even though we had a successful 2014, we must not rest on our laurels,
but instead act on the momentum built up to this point: NAIFA national
representatives continue to lobby for the tax-favored benefits we promote;
NAIFA-Arizona representatives stay abreast of issues affecting our
business that come before the Arizona State Legislature; and regular events
like NAIFA-Arizona’s Capitol Hill Day and NAIFA-National’s annual
Washington D.C. “fly-in” encourage participation from NAIFA’s rank and
file members such as yourself.
With talented and deep leadership teams working on your behalf at both the
state and local level, and with a rich and accomplished past to build on, the
years 2015 and beyond appear to be bright for NAIFA in Arizona!

Committee. As a member, your

network of agents and advisors is
essential to the success of NAIFA's
legislative program.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of APIC
• To actively promote the involvement of agents and advisors in the election of
candidates for local, state and national office, consistent with the legislative
interests of the NAIFA federation.
• To identify and foster the creation of significant insurance agent and financial
advisor relationships with elected officials.
The Objectives of APIC
• To identify and develop constituent contacts for all members of Congress.
• To involve local association members in federal legislative issues per the
direction of the NAIFA Government Relations Committee.
• To encourage local association members to participate in national, state and
local campaign organizations.
• To communicate with and educate NAIFA local association members on the
importance of political involvement.
• To establish effective communications between constituent contacts and APIC.
• To recognize achievement of political involvement and measure results.

the College for Financial Planning to create
a new, dynamic and interactive curriculum
for NAIFA’s Life Underwriter Training Council
Fellow (LUTCF) designation.
What is the NAIFA LUTCF?
LUTCF stands for Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow, a longstanding industry designation owned by NAIFA.
NAIFA played a leading role in the creation of The Life Underwriter Training Council in 1947. The establishment of
LUTC is one of many points in NAIFA’s history of commitment to practical training for agents and advisors in the field
and to the peace of mind of consumers.
The LUTCF designation was established in 1984, and since then more than 50,000 LUTCF designations have been
conferred. NAIFA is proud of its long history associated with the LUTCF designation. It has been and will continue to
be the proven designation for agents and advisors across the country. The underlying principle of providing valuable
industry-specific training to NAIFA members has never been more important for the industry than it is today.
How is the NAIFA LUTCF Changing?
For years, the NAIFA LUTCF program was administered on behalf of NAIFA by The American College. That partnership
is ending, effective July 1, 2015.
However, NAIFA has entered in a new partnership with the College for Financial Planning to re-launch the program.
Information regarding the new curriculum, requirements for completion, pricing and other details about the new

About the College for Financial Planning
Founded in 1972, the College for Financial Planning provides accessible and flexible degree, non-degree, and
continuing professional education programs to students nationwide. Shortly after its founding, the College
introduced the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, which has evolved into the world's most recognized
and respected financial planning credential, with more than 60,000 professionals in the U.S. having earned the
designation.
In addition to its CFP® Certification Professional Education Program, the College offers three graduate degree
programs, for more in-depth knowledge of the finance industry. Professional designation programs are also available,
with specializations ranging from asset management to retirement planning. College for Financial Planning is
accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. More than 140,000

How does this change affect my existing LUTCF designation?
Your designation is not affected and you may continue to use it for the rest of your career. Those who earned the
LUTCF designation prior to July 1, 2015 must continue to meet any applicable continuing education requirements
and adhere to a Code of Ethics.
Requirements for continuing education with regard to maintaining your LUTCF can be found on the CFFP/LUTCF
website at www.cffpinfo.com/lutcf-life-underwriter-training-council-fellow/ for those who earn the designation after
July 1, 2015.
What if I’ve already started LUTCF coursework with The American College?
NAIFA has ensured that The American College will honor the LUTCF coursework of those currently working toward
the LUTCF designation through July 1, 2015. This means that anyone who has begun LUTCF coursework with The
American College can finish the requirements and earn the designation through The American College as long as
they do so by July 1, 2015. No new students will be accepted into the LUTCF program by The American College after
December 31, 2013.
