EfficientDynamics demonstrates just how efficient driving
dynamics can be. It increases fuel efficiency while
simultaneously making the BMW more dynamic. One
example of this is the ECO PRO Mode, which is activated
via the Driving Experience Control switch. It modifies
various vehicle settings to maximise efficiency and
reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent1. But from
the driver’s seat, it’s still all about sheer driving pleasure.

MINIMISE
RESISTANCE.
The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo only goes with the flow when it comes to
aerodynamics. A newly developed Air Breather on the front wheel arches and the
Air Curtain on the front apron guarantee that air resistance literally has the wind
taken out of its sails. The active rear spoiler also improves efficiency and driving
dynamics by using the airflow to minimise uplift.

DRIVING ASSISTANT –
KEEPS THE RIGHT DISTANCE AND SAVES YOU FROM STRESS.
Driving Assistant combines the Lane Departure Warning and Approach
Warning systems. When travelling at speeds between 10 and 60km/h,
the Approach and Pedestrian Warning with City Brake Activation issues
a warning if there is a risk of collision with vehicles or pedestrians and brakes
the vehicle in the event of an emergency. From a speed of approx. 70km/h,
the Lane Departure Warning draws the driver's attention to an unintentional
lane change by means of slight vibrations in the steering wheel.
BLUETOOTH OFFICE –
ALWAYS IN TOUCH.
Bluetooth Office enables BMW office functions such as emails,
appointments, tasks, contacts and text messages to be shown on
the Control Display or read aloud over the audio speakers using the
read-aloud function. All compatible mobile end devices are listed

SURROUND VIEW AND PARK ASSISSTANT –
PUTS YOU IN THE PICTURE.
Surround View comprises the Rear View camera and Side View, providing
a 270-degree panorama view: Top View provides an image of the areas
behind and on either side of the car for more convenient manoeuvring.
Side View enables improved visibility when exiting driveways or side
streets. The image is also displayed on the Control Display.

MAKING A LITTLE GO A LONG WAY.
For BMW, the focus is always on delivering quintessential BMW driving pleasure. The pioneering BMW EfficientDynamics strategy, used across the
entire model range, supports this goal using innovative technologies that minimise the vehicles’ fuel consumption and emissions while at the same
time enhancing dynamic performance and driving enjoyment.
It’s a comprehensive technology package that encompasses the engine, energy management and the vehicle concept – and is standard in every BMW.
The new generation of petrol and diesel engines in the BMW TwinPower Turbo family is responsible for the improved performance and the reduction
in emissions. Optimised aerodynamics and BMW EfficientLightweight contribute to increased efficiency. The BMW intelligent lightweight
construction concept is all about using the right material in the right place, in order to lower weight, increase rigidity and thus achieve maximum agility.
BMW is leading the charge in terms of innovation in this area and is the only major car manufacturer that uses ultralight and highly rigid carbon fibre
(CFRP). BMW also focuses on forward-thinking drive train concepts such as the BMW eDrive technology with a 100% electric powerplant, as well
as plug-in hybrid models.
Overall, the technology package encompasses a multitude of optimisation measures in every BMW. Other features such as the ECO PRO mode,
the Automatic Start/Stop function, the optional eight-speed Steptronic transmission and Brake Energy Regeneration also contribute to reductions
in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as enhanced performance and driving pleasure. Included as standard in every BMW.
THE BMW EFFICIENT DYNAMICS FEATURES IN THE
BMW 3 SERIES GRAN TURISMO AT A GLANCE.
The Automatic Start/Stop function switches off the engine when the
vehicle comes to a temporary standstill (e.g. at traffic lights or in a traffic
jam) to further reduce overall fuel consumption. When the driver presses
down on the clutch (manual transmission) or takes their foot off the brake
(Steptronic transmission), the engine automatically starts up again in a
fraction of a second.
BMW TwinPower Turbo technology combines a TwinScroll
turbocharger with Valvetronic, Double-VANOS and High Precision
Injection in petrol engines. While in diesel engines, CommonRail direct
injection is combined with a turbocharger/two-stage turbocharger
featuring variable turbine geometry. This significantly reduces the fuel
consumption of the BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol and diesel engines –
while noticeably increasing performance across all engine speeds.
With Brake Energy Regeneration, the alternator generates electricity
primarily when the driver brakes or takes their foot off the accelerator.
Previously unused kinetic energy is transformed into electrical energy
and fed into the battery.
In the field of aerodynamics, BMW has achieved excellent air resistance
figures thanks to a range of optimally coordinated innovations. This in turn
has a positive effect on overall efficiency and fuel consumption. These
features include the flat surface of the undercarriage, the Air Curtain in
the front apron and the Air Breather in the front wheel arches.

Only in combination with Steptronic transmission.
Depending on your individual driving style, the ECO PRO Mode helps
to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent, according to an internal
BMW fuel consumption study. Transmission characteristics, shift points
and accelerator pedal sensitivity are optimised and an intelligent heating/
air-conditioning concept is implemented. In ECO PRO Mode, the driver
also receives tips on how to increase their efficiently. The bonus mileage
is also shown. ECO PRO Route also helps to ensure the efficient use
of fuel. In conjunction with the Navigation System Professional, it suggests
an efficiency-optimised route that takes account of the volume of traffic,
as well as your individual driving style and local conditions. In addition,
the vehicle will go into coasting mode1 as soon as the driver takes his foot
off the accelerator and doesn’t brake; the vehicle will then coast along at
speeds between 50 and 160km/h.
The Optimum Shift Indicator shows the most efficient gear for any
given driving situation. This means that the driver in any BMW model
with manual transmission or Steptronic sport transmission (when in
the manual mode) is supported via the cockpit display in their efforts to
adopt an economical driving style – especially in the city and on longdistance trips.
The eight-speed Steptronic transmission ensures smoother gear
shifts and greater driving comfort, thanks to fast engine speed transitions
and short shift times. It unites outstanding comfort with impressive
dynamics and increased fuel efficiency.
ENGINES THAT EXCEL.
IN ACCELERATION AND FUEL CONSUMPTION.
The diesel engines.The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the diesel engines combines advanced injection technologies and fully variable
output control with innovative turbocharger technology, for enhanced efficiency and a more dynamic performance. All diesel models feature
lightweight aluminium construction and are equipped with a zero-maintenance particle filter.

This BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line petrol engine features a
3.0 litre capacity and combines a TwinScroll turbocharger with Valvetronic,
Double-VANOS and High Precision Injection. This intelligent package
of innovations lowers the average fuel consumption to just 8.1–8.2 litres
(335i xDrive with Steptronic transmission: 8.0 – 8.1 litres) per 100km1 with
CO2 emissions of 188 –191g/km1 (335i xDrive with Steptronic transmission:
187–190g/km)1. Its performance figures are equally impressive: 225kW
(306hp), a maximum torque of 400Nm and powerful acceleration from
0 to 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds (335i xDrive with Steptronic transmission:
5.3 seconds). Its top speed is 250km/h (electronically limited).

This BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with a 2.0 litre
capacity combines a TwinScroll turbocharger with Valvetronic, DoubleVANOS and High Precision Injection. The result is an impressive fusion of
efficiency and power. An output of 135kW (184hp) and a maximum torque of
270Nm enable acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds (320i xDrive:
8.0 seconds), and a top speed of 230km/h (320i xDrive: 227km/h). Average
fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.8 litres (320i xDrive: 7.0 –7.2 litres) per 100km1 with
CO2 emissions of 153 –157g/km1 (320i xDrive: 164 –167g/km1).
BMW 335d xDrive.
Even at low engine speeds of between 1,500rpm and 2,500rpm, this
top diesel model with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology offers a
maximum torque of 630Nm. The smooth-running and extremely
spontaneous six-cylinder in-line engine delivers an output of 230kW
(313hp). It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and
consumes on average 5.6 – 5.7 litres of fuel per 100km1. The all-wheel
drive system further increases traction and directional stability.
BMW 330d/330d xDrive.
Maximum performance and a highly efficient rate of fuel consumption
are the defining hallmarks of this model. At engine speeds as low as
1,500rpm, the BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line diesel engine
with an output of 190kW (258hp) delivers an impressive 560Nm of
torque. So you’ll be able to surge from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
(330d xDrive: 5.4 seconds). Plus, its average fuel consumption per
100km1 is as low as 5.1–5.3l (330d xDrive: 5.4–5.6l) and its average CO2
emissions range between 135–139g/km1 (330d xDrive: 142–146g/km1).
BMW 325d.
The latest-generation BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine
with a 2.0 litre capacity and an output of 160kW (218hp) combines
CommonRail direct injection and a two-stage turbocharger with variable
turbine geometry. Its maximum torque of 450Nm is delivered at only
1,500rpm. The BMW 325d accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.1 seconds
and has a top speed of 240km/h. Average fuel consumption: 5.1–5.2 litres
of diesel per 100km1. CO2 emissions: 134 –138g/km1.

The new BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine produces
an exceptional 140kW (190hp) performance from its 2.0 litre capacity.
Its combination of CommonRail direct injection and a turbocharger with
variable turbine geometry yields a top speed of 230km/h and propels
the BMW from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds with a torque of 400Nm at
1,750 to 2,500rpm. It is also incredibly fuel efficient, with 4.6 –4.8 litres
(320d xDrive: 4.8–5.1 litres) per 100km1 with CO2 emissions of 120–127g/km1

BMW 318d.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine with a
2.0 litre capacity accelerates powerfully and flexibly with an output
of 110kW (150hp) and a maximum torque of 320Nm. It owes its success
to the CommonRail direct injection and a turbocharger with variable
turbine geometry. From a standstill it reaches 100km/h in 9.3 seconds
and has a top speed of 210km/h. What’s more, on average this highly
efficient engine consumes just 4.5 – 4.7 litres of fuel per 100km1 with a
CO2 emissions output of 117 –123g/km1.

The variable sport steering works
independently of your current speed, varying
the steering ratio in line with the steering angle.
It includes the Servotronic function and reduces
the steering wheel movement required to
achieve a particularly tight steering angle. This
greatly improves agility, particularly when driving
dynamically around tight bends and curves, and
makes parking and manoeuvring much easier.
When the steering wheel angle is small, the
steering delivers steady directional stability and
precision on straights.
The rear-wheel drive is the crucial cornerstone

The active rear spoiler optimises the air flow
at the rear of the car as your speed increases, to
ensure excellent road holding and classic BMW
driving dynamics. The rear spoiler automatically
extends at speeds of over 110km/h – and
retracts once you’re back under 70km/h. You
can also manually control the active rear spoiler
via a button on the driver side door (below the
electric window controls).
The optional eight-speed Steptronic sport
transmission adapts to suit your individual
driving style. It’s perfect for everything from
comfortable cruising through to a very dynamic
drive. The sport automatic transmission also
allows you to change gears manually at any
time using the shortened gear lever or the
paddles on the Sport leather steering wheel.
In SPORT mode, the gear shifts are configured
for maximum dynamics. The particularly fine
graduation of the eight gears optimises the
acceleration process and the engine speed is
continually optimised to guarantee the best
possible efficiency and performance.

 Adaptive Headlights with variable light distribution, incl.
cornering lights and BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle High-Beam
Assistant), illuminate bends at greater distances by optimally adjusting
the swivelling headlights as soon as the driver turns the steering wheel.
The variable light distribution automatically adapts the headlight range,
to suit city or motorway conditions, for example. To improve short-range
visibility, the cornering lights integrated into the fog lights are automatically
activated as soon as the indicator is switched on or the steering wheel
is turned – even when the vehicle is at a standstill.
 BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant),
included with the Adaptive Headlights. Automatically switches between
high and low beam depending on traffic conditions and ambient light for
optimal illumination of the road at night. The system monitors the
presence of vehicles in front or oncoming traffic and continuously
adjusts the high-beam lights to avoid dazzling other road users.
 Active Protection means that all safety components in the BMW are
designed to complement each other perfectly. In potentially dangerous
situations, the Active Protection function automatically increases the
tension in the front seat belts and closes any open windows and the
optional Panorama glass roof. If an accident occurs, an automatic braking
function brings the vehicle to a complete stop, which significantly helps
to prevent follow-on collisions. In addition, the Attentiveness Assistant
monitors the steering response of the driver for signs of tiredness and
signals any irregular driving behaviour on the Control Display.
 The Intelligent emergency call* automatically establishes a connection
with the nearest rescue coordination centre through the BMW call centre
whenever needed – without the use of a mobile phone. It transmits information
regarding the vehicle’s current location and the severity of the accident.
The Intelligent emergency call can also be triggered manually in case other
road users require help, for example.
 Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with extended functionality
includes Cornering Brake Control (CBC), the hill-start and braking
assistant, brake drying and braking readiness. DSC recognises any slight
skidding and stabilises your car within fractions of a second. Traction
Mode (DTC) is a subsidiary function of DSC. In certain driving conditions
it allows increased wheel slip, which optimises acceleration and enables
you to drive more dynamically.
 Airbags are an integral part of the perfectly coordinated safety system
in your BMW. Six dedicated airbags provide increased safety: the driver
and front passenger airbags, a curtain system of head airbags for front
and rear passengers, as well as side airbags integrated into the back of
the front seats.
 Runflat tyres feature reinforced side walls that prevent the tyres from
completely collapsing or loosening from the rim if the air pressure drops.
So in the event of a flat tyre, you’ll be able to make it safely to the next
repair shop (standard with all 18" light alloy wheels and larger).
 The tyre pressure monitor warns the driver of any loss of pressure,
using sensors to assess the air pressure and temperature.
 Passenger cell. The system of members and node connections in
the functionally constructed body structure combined with the strategic
deployment of high-strength materials delivers maximum passive safety
in front, side or rear crashes.

The cockpit with its centre console angled towards the driver is a classic
example of driver-orientated BMW design. As standard, it includes Radio
Professional, a 6.5" colour flatscreen and a leather steering wheel with

 The BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow Line includes numerous features in high-gloss Black: the front and rear side window frame trim and window recess
finishers as well as the exterior mirror frames and bases.

 Xenon Headlights with high and low beam functions also include the headlight
washing system, LED accent lights, automatic headlight range control, as well as
four LED light rings that act as parking lights and daytime running lights.
 Adaptive Headlights including variable light distribution, integrated
cornering lights and BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant);
illuminate bends as soon as the driver turns the steering wheel. BMW Selective
Beam (anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant) continuously adjusts the
intensity of the high-beam lights depending on the surrounding traffic for optimal
illumination of the road ahead and to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic.
 Headlight washing system ensures optimal brightness of the headlights
in all weather conditions. When the lights are switched on, the headlights are
cleaned automatically whenever the driver activates the windscreen washer jets.
 Panorama glass roof, electric, with slide and lift functions (front), a wind
deflector and a comfort opening function via the car’s remote control.
 Frameless windows emphasise the car’s elegant, coupé-style appearance.
 Dynamic brake lights with
indicator function help following traffic
to instantly differentiate between
light deceleration and more urgent
situations – for increased safety on
the road.
 Interior mirror with automatic anti-glare function automatically
reduces the glare caused by the headlights of following cars when the amount
of incident light exceeds a defined limit.
 Interior and driver-side exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle
function, including fold-in function for the exterior mirrors and automatic parking
function for the front passenger exterior mirror.
 Alarm system with remote control and anti-theft system.
 Active rear spoiler automatically extends or retracts, depending on the
current speed, to best regulate the flow of air at the rear. It can also be manually
activated via a button on the driver side door.

come with a single visible tailpipe

 Navigation System Business with iDrive Controller comes with a built-in
6.5" LCD colour display. Route guidance is provided via an arrow or map display,
along with spoken instructions. The navigation system is operated intuitively via
the iDrive Controller with direct menu control buttons and functional bookmarks
or via voice control.
 Parking assistant makes parking parallel and perpendicular to the
road easier. The system works by measuring even tight potential parallel
parking spaces while driving past at a low speed. When a suitable space has
been found, the Parking assistant takes over the steering, while the driver is
responsible for selecting the correct gear, as well as pressing the accelerator
and brakes (available in conjunction with Park Distance Control).
 Rear view camera shows the area behind the vehicle on the Control
Display. Interactive track lines and obstacle markings also help the driver
when reversing (available in conjunction with Park Distance Control).
 New Generation Navigation System Professional1, incl. high-resolution
8.8" display, DVD changer, iDrive Touch Controller with direct access buttons,
favourites, integrated hard disk (12GB) for audio data and navigation instructions,
3D map display. Featured with instrument panel with extended functionality and
5.2" Info Display.
 Radio BMW Professional includes a 6.5" colour monitor, iDrive Controller
with direct menu control buttons, a CD drive and MP3 decoder.
 DAB tuner (Digital Audio Broadcasting) delivers brilliant sound quality and
excellent reception of a larger selection of digital radio stations, including many
special-interest broadcasters. It is also DAB+ compatible.
 Surround View includes the Rear
View camera with Top View and Side
View and enables a 270 degree field of
visibility. This system facilitates parking
and manoeuvring in confined spaces
as well as areas with reduced visibility
(available in conjunction with the Rear
View camera).
 Park Distance Control (PDC)
front and rear, or rear only, makes
it easier to reverse and park the
car in tight spaces. The proximity
of obstacles behind the vehicle is
indicated acoustically with a warning
signal, as well as visually in the
Control Display.
 Bluetooth Office. In conjunction
with a navigation system and an
integrated business mobile phone2,
you can use Office functions via
Bluetooth such as emails,
appointments or SMS on the Control
Display, or have them read out using
the read-aloud function.
 Real Time Traffic Information
(RTTI)* collects current traffic information
about motorways, main and country roads
and the most important urban routes.
It relays information about delays nearly
instantly. The fastest and most efficient
alternative routes are suggested
accordingly.
 Concierge Service* connects
the driver to a BMW Call Centre agent
at the push of a button. The agent
can locate a particular restaurant,
the nearest cash dispenser or an
emergency pharmacy and send the
address details directly to the car's
navigation system.
 Harman Kardon Surround Sound
System includes a powerful 600 W
digital amplifier, vehicle-specific equalizer,
central speaker and 16 loudspeakers for
truly outstanding sound quality.
 HiFi loudspeaker system
features a 205 Watt amplifier and nine
loudspeakers for brilliant sound.
 Enhanced telephony with extended smartphone connectivity allows
mobile phones to be connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth2 and used with a
hands-free facility.
 Hands-free kit with USB interface for wirelessly connecting compatible
Bluetooth mobile phones2, and connecting suitable audio devices (e.g. MP3
player) via a USB interface.
 BMW Online* provides access to
online services (email, the Google
Maps database, customised portals
for news, weather, etc.). Only available
in conjunction with the mobile phone
preparation.
 BMW Live* provides access to
selected online content using your
mobile phone’s active Bluetooth data
link 2.
 Internet option provides online
access via the Control Display and
includes a data flat rate (no roaming)*
with UMTS speed. The user can surf the
web using the iDrive Controller and highresolution Control Display.
 TV function enables the reception
of digital broadcasts (DVB-T) when the

Lane Departure Warning and Approach
Warning systems. At speeds between
10 and 60km/h the Approach and
Pedestrian Warning with City Brake
Activation issues a warning if there
is a risk of collision with vehicles or
pedestrians and brakes the vehicle in
the event of an emergency.
 BMW Head-Up Display1, full-colour, projects information relevant to the
journey directly into the driver's field of vision, thereby allowing them to fully
concentrate on driving. The display includes information such as the current
speed, navigation directions, Speed Limit Info incl. no-overtaking indicator,
along with telephone and entertainment lists.
 Active Cruise Control with
Stop&Go function2, incl. radar
based Approach Warning and braking
function. Automatically maintains the
desired speed up to 210km/h while
taking into account the vehicle ahead.
In typical Stop&Go situations, it brings
the car to a standstill and automatically
resumes driving as appropriate.
 Cruise Control with braking
function2 stores and maintains any
selected speed above approx. 30km/h,
even when going downhill. Operated
via the standard multifunction buttons
on the steering wheel.
 Lane Change Warning detects
cars in the driver’s blind spot and cars

lane when the driver has activated
the indicator in order to change lanes.
The system alerts the driver with a
steering wheel vibration and a visual

to save and retrieve their desired

 Rear seat backrest adjustment enables the rear backrest to be folded
down in a 60:40 split. The backrest can be reclined in 15 positions between
8 and 27 degrees.
 Rear backrest release function (included in the storage package)
enables the rear backrest to be unlocked and folded down conveniently from
the luggage compartment – to create an almost flat loading space.
Luxury rear storage bag provides
additional storage space and can be
secured to the rear seat using the
centre seat belt.
Bicycle/E-bike holder for the tow bar.
 Automatic operation of the tailgate enables the tailgate to be opened
remotely via the remote control, and closed via the tailgate button or the remote

BMW recommends the use of RON 95 super unleaded petrol. Unleaded fuels RON 91 and higher with a maximum ethanol percentage of 10% may also be used. Output and fuel consumption figures
apply to RON 98 fuel.

All BMW engines comply with the EU6 emissions standard. Fuel consumption figures are determined according to the ECE driving cycle, which consists of approximately one-third urban traffic and
two-thirds extra-urban driving (based on the distance covered). CO2 emissions are measured in addition to fuel consumption.

In 2015, the BMW Group was once more listed in the
World and European Dow Jones Sustainability Index
as one of the most sustainable automotive companies
worldwide. The development of efficient vehicle
concepts and environmentally friendly production
processes, including recycling, is an integral part of
our philosophy. BMW EfficientDynamics and electric
vehicles have enabled us to cut the CO2 emissions
from our European new-vehicle fleet by more than
35% since 1995. We have also reduced the amount of
resources used in production, such as water and energy,
by 34% between 2006 and 2014, with a reduction to
45% of previous levels aimed at for 2020. In terms of
other resources (such as volatile organic compounds,
process wastewater and waste) our 45% target was
met in 2014, and we will continue to work on further
improvement. Production at our engine plant in Steyr
has been waste-water free since 2007. And of course,
at the end of its service life, every one of our vehicles
can be easily and economically recycled. To return your
